FBCB: Good news, bad news.
I guess I should be excited as I had a player win Freshman of the Year for the entire nation last year as he led my team in scoring last year with a 23.6 PPG average. His most dominant ratings are his inside scoring which is a 92! His jumpshot is an 89 and his quickness is a 99. I'm amazed that I managed to even lure him to Southeastern Louisiana. It probably helped that he was from a nearby town in Alabama. Now, he has no defensive game, but who cares when he can score like that. He is a point guard on my team and he has decent passing and handling as well, although I played him at the 2 because of his scoring ability. The bad news is he decided to be the first player to ever go to the NBA in my current dynasty - after his sophomore year. I now find myself wishing I hadn't redshirted him his first year at the school.

Update on this guy: He scored 40 or more points 10 times in this season and had a season average of 26.9 PPG and 4.5 APG. He also scored 40 or more points in each post season game, including our first round FBCA loss against Syracuse where he put up 52 points (but we lost 88-79.)
He set my team's record for scoring in a season by over a 200 point margin. The odd thing: The draft report has him going undrafted. I assumed since he declared early, he would likely end up somewhere in the draft. Since the draft report states he is projected to go undrafted and I don't import my classes into FBB, does this mean that he definitely goes undrafted and he doesn't make it into the NBA? If so, is there is any chance he will surprise me and come back next season (maybe he never got an agent?) |

I suspect that he probably would have come back next season but you probably don't have a scholarship available for him anymore. Early departures that are projected to go undrafted pretty much always come back

Question about FBCB...possible threadjack.
I have played the game and sort of liked it. I have seen an increase of posts about it in the last weeks and I was wondering why. The game is setup pretty well. What is the best things about this game? I didn't really submerse myself in the recruiting aspect of TCY. So, will I not like FBCB because of that aspect? Also, I hear a lot about the college edition of this series but not the pro. Does anybody have both? If so, how are the draft imports? I guess I am on the fence about either getting this (fbcb) or OOTP6 for a new game. Im not a real basketball fan, but the college game intrigues me and I would try it since so many of you seem to like it. Thoughts?

Really? Good to know for the future... well actually the present. He didn't come back, likely because I had filled his scholarship. However, a guy that I had redshirted that year (I thought they were going to be an incredible backcourt that could actually allow me to win a FBCA game as opposed to my annual one and out) who was an incredible PG from Australia had an amazing year for me. He averaged 14.5 PPG, 8.2 APG, and only 2.3 Turnovers per game and he also won the national freshman of the year. However, he also is an incomplete player who has very poor defense. So, if he ends up declaring early on me, I'm going to likely risk it and keep a scholarship open so that he will have the opportunity to come back to the team if he wants if he doesn't get drafted. |

The recruiting portion of FBCB isn't nearly as intense as it is in TCY. In TCY you need to fill 15 schollies in any given year. In a crazy year on FBCB, it's five. Big difference. I really like the recruiting in FBCB. It's quite solid. Even if it's not your thing, some years it's done by mid-season (or occassionally preseason, which is great to do). That means all you focus on during the season would be the games. I'd say 80% of the recruiting actions get done in the offseason.
I haven't played the pro version, but maybe one of these days I'll give it a try (NBA ain't my thing though). OOTP 6 vs FBCB...I dunno which I'd choose. If you have OOTP 5, then I'd get FBCB now and OOTP 6 later. If you don't have OOTP 5, it's a toss up as to which sport you like better. Baseball and college hoops are two of my favorite sports, so I have to get both games Seriously, $30 for FBCB and $26 for OOTP if you pre-order, so that's $56. Only a few bucks more than a normal console game. (Shrug) g'luck with your decision. |

HR: Is it coded for early departures to come back if they're projected for the late 2nd round? Quite a few players go that route these days.
Hurst: One other thing to consider: You can play FBCB now. No one knows for certain when OOTP6 will be release. You might be able to get a week or two of play with FBCB in before OOTP6 is released. (Now that I say that, OOTP6 will be released today ) |

Holy crap i did not realize that someone that had declared can/would come back if they were going to go undrafted. I had one guy with the guts/stupidity to declare for the draft out of Campbell as a Junior, he was one of my best players but was nowhere near good enough to play in the pros, and I totally wrote him off and filled all my Scholarships. Great to know that in the future, there is a chance they come back.

When I read this, at first I thought you were declaring that OOTP6's release date had been officially announced today. ![]() |

Yeah, I wish. I'd like to start up my "Whit If the Negro Leagues and the Major Leagues Combined?" league with OOTP6. Ran it with OOTP4, and got some interesting results, but I'd like to run it again, toning down some of the NL stats. |

Any projection in the 2nd round has a chance to come back. Late second has higher odds of a return than early 2nd. |

Sweet. I'm glad to know that. I've had a few players that declared and didn't project, but I'd already used up my scholarships.

I don't like the recruiting in TCY, but I really like it in FBCB. Like kingnebwsu said, most of the time you have 1-5 schollys to fill each year, so you can search in depth more than in a college football sim... not to mention I think it's done well and easy to understand. (not to say TCY isn't, but I just can't get into it as much) I can't stand pro ball, but I love college bball. This game, combined with ESPN college hoops (yes I re-purchased the game, the recruiting model is the best in any game, imo) gives me my hoops fix. HOWEVER, since baseball season is kicking off, I personally would go with ootp6 right now - and would have gone with FBCB back when college hoops was kicking off. There I go again with my seasonal gamer talk. ![]() Actually, if you plan on getting ootp6, it's $9 cheaper than it's going to be anyday now. So, get 'em both!! As you have read on here, FBCB is very addicting and easy to navigate once you get used to it. Craig has also stated ootp6 has some really nice new features and most of us text simmers will like the improvements. Todd Last edited by MizzouRah : 04-09-2004 at 03:57 PM. |
