Puresim 2004.....Shaun not with .400 anymore

I checked my email and saw an email with the title Puresim 2004. Not Total Pro Baseball.

Inside, it states that Shaun has left .400 because he didn't feel that with his full time job, he could give .400 the attention and time they deserved. So Shaun's going solo again. And he said that Puresim 2004 should be released within the next 2-4 weeks.

While we're disappointed that Shaun has chosen to leave the company, we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors, and Puresim 2004 really does look pretty good.

Thanks

First I'd like to thank .400 for being so patient with a guy who has too many real world demands.. .400, and especially Joe Stallings, were great to work with.

Here is the email I sent tonight: http://www.puresim.com/news.html

Regards,
Shaun

Who is willing to bet that when it's all said and done, Pure Sim ends up being the better single player mode game over OOTP6?

You call this a software divorce?! I want name calling, I want backstabbing, ANYTHING! Maybe someone needs to create a software company sim, where random disagreements can turn into bloody deathmatches between companies and their employees.

I've never played it. What are the major differences vs. OOTP?

PSPN is one big difference that Pure Sim has which is nice and the PBP has a nice graphic that shows you where the ball is hit I think. But in my opinion that is about it.

Puresim, doesn't have multiple minor leagues, he is taking out scouts from his game and the AI is pretty weak for computer clubs. Doesn't have the depth that OOTP has, but does have a nice feel to it.

Its like a watered down version of OOTP, but a bit more flair in terms of presentation of your stats.

Oh and puresim is probably the slowest game I've ever played when simming seasons.

I always had more fun playing Puresim than I did with OOTP, but I know I'm in the minority there. I don't need to sim 10 seasons in an hour, so I guess that's why.

I have found that the stats for Puresim "mean more" and are more realistic than in OOTP. Maybe OOTP6's new engine will fix that.

I would definatly not consider Puresim just a watered down version of OOTP.

we are all entitled to our opinion. Puresim is a good game also, to me it didn't have the depth or realism I need in a baseball sim. The no multiple minor leagues is a prime example.

never played PS before, but this looks interesting.

(btw, is it too early to start the Jim-Gindin-to-400-Studios-to-make-a-baseball-sim rumors?)

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
And to run where
the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
And to love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star
This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far
To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march,
march into hell
For that heavenly cause
And I know
If I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart
Will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest
And the world will be
better for this
That one man, scorned
and covered with scars,
Still strove with his last
ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable,
the unreachable,
The unreachable star
And I'll always dream
The impossible dream
Yes, and I'll reach
The unreachable star

Improved Usability Added handy right-click menu on player links that allows single click access to many screens and functions that previously required a visit to the player card. No more click fests for demoting/promoting, setting player usage hints etc...

  • make inactive
  • make active (either this or "make inactive" would be greyed out of course)
  • place on IR (for football, disabled list for baseball, whatever it is called for basketball if there is such a thing)
  • set as starter (this might have to be limited to making him a starter at his primary position..but it would help a lot in any game. He becomes the starter, and whoever was listed as starter becomes the #1 backup, and everyone else drops down a slot on the depth chart if necessary)
Each of the drop-downs would either perform the function discussed, or (in the case of renegotiation, for example) take you to the screen that you need to perform that function.

Voila. There you have it. The gamer could then make the vast majority of the decisions that he needs to make from one place.
Looks like SOMEBODY is listening!

Sure can and I can see Top's or Fleer or whatever baseball card company he jacked all those baseball cards from. Can anyone say licensing infringement? Scarrrrrryyyyyyy.......... Nothing like posting screen shots of teams logo's and stuff for a product you are going to be selling huh? Nice Red Sox logo's.. I mean how good do you have to be at art and interface design, when you just steal stuff from the web?

But it does look nice, I will give you that.

Shaun can speak for himself, but I believe those are placeholders, which is common in software production. I doubt Shaun would actually release a game with real team logos without an MLB license.

Druez, given that your wife is an employee of .400 Software Studios, I find it odd that you would make a post like this. Is there some hidden agenda?

typical druez post - he loves to spew out garbage like this, rather his info is based on fact or some information he learned in his imaginary world.

I know he's the first person I would sign up to beta test my product...

I also find it distressing that in all his attacks on this board and his defenses (and reviews) of .400, he never mentioned that his wife worked there (unless I missed it).

Jason's wife was not an employee of .400 until recently, to my knowledge Jason hasn't done any .400 related reviews since she was hired (TEW is the only game released since she was hired).

Secondly Jason does not speak for .400 Studios in any way, shape, or form.

It seems odd that someone would send licensed images in screenshots to a very large mailing list and host them on a public site. Especially given the legal ramifications if they were just placeholders. That is all I'm bringing up? I can't host or link to any of this from our website, because then we would be violation at sportsology.net. We do alot of stuff with Tops and I'm sure they would like this any more then we do.

Regardless if its placeholder art or not its illegal that is all and I find it very strange that someone would post this.

As far as my wife working for .400 she didn't start untill feb 15th I believe. That is well after my dispute over FOF vs TPF. Which btw I already apologized in another thread for. I haven't mentioned it because its not relevant, I haven't done a review on one of their products since then and Joe you asked me not to talk about it?

Fair enough. I would still find it questionable if he continues to review direct competitor's products without disclosure.

Im gunna have to say I agree with druez for once. I dont belive you should use logos and all that without permission for your own benefit and not the companys logo you are using. The site Druez has promotes all the games he is using logos from but in no way does the game that shaun is selling promite the red sox. It just uses the logo they have created and used without permission or consent(as far as I know for the permission part). Thats what the little R in a circle means

I'm confused.

Or, maybe I just missed the class where we discussed the benefits of one's spouse insulting your boss/co-worker (whatever the employment situation is) in public.

I've seen MANY of the games in this genre use graphics and names of REAL pro sports when they are showing pre-release versions of their game. So it's not like this is anything new.

I haven't, if they do its in violation. I mean come on. Lets say Jim takes his football game and uses all Art of stadiums and Logos and Players. Sends that out on his mailing list. Everyone who looks at the mailing list is going to think that game will come with those things!

Yes, Joe you got me. When you used our friendship and asked me to give HR FBCB a bad review and I refused. Then when you tried and get me to violate my NDA about OOTP 6.0. Those things Joe are what made me point out what a theif and a liar you are. That is when our friendship ended and as you call it my hidden agenda begins. I made that mistake letting you cloud my judgement on FOF, but I won't do it again.

I'm a grown man and admitted I was wrong with FOF and Jim for getting into arguments about that.

Hey puresim will probably be great, but when you promote the game with all stolen art its kind of hard to judge what the product will actually be like isn't it?
