I think I've heard this refrain before...

EDIT: I love Dallas' schedule. Two Monday Night games against division rivals, a Sunday Night season-ending game against the other, and a third Monday Night game thrown in because the NFL could, no crazy away stretches, a bye week thrown in after one Monday Night game...good stuff. Potential cold weather games in Philly and NY at the end of the year could be tough though.

Saints' schedule is strange.

We play our first four games in a row against the NFC West. Then we have another stretch in the middle of the season where we play the AFC West four games in a row.

5 of our 6 division games occur during the last 6 weeks of the season. We don't play Atlanta or Carolina until after Thanksgiving.

I really hope that we are healthy to end the season.

Wow, just caught this: For the first time in Cowboys history, they will not play consecutive away games.

I think they need to break the Detroit-Dallas-Thanksgiving tradition already...

Wife works at US Airways HQ, so for her I came into the heart of enemy territory. I laughed myself silly on the way home from work this past football season listening to the Sports Reporters rip into Spurrier, but I may have to find a new station this year.

Steelers open up at home against the Raiders. Tough to see that old-time rivalry playing that early, rather than in the cold, snowy weather in December.

I'm actually entertaining the idea of going up to Cinci for that game... Have you guys sold out yet?

Screw that. No they don't. The tradition is a solid one. The Lions Thanksgiving Day game goes way, way, way back. The Lions get about one nationaly televised game a year. That's about it and they usually play pretty well. The Lions don't have much going for them and outside of Barry Sanders haven't in the last 40 years. Let 'em have their game.

The Lions-Green Bay game was great last year. One of the best games of the season (from a Lions fan's perspective). There's no harm in the tradition. It's a good one. Very solid with deep roots. You didn't see anyone complaining when the Cowboys were all that and the Lions had Barry Sanders. In today's NFL trying to pick so-called "marquee" matchups 5 months before the season begins is near impossible. Look at how many of the Monday night games end up as complete turds because one team goes into the crapper. They have been trying to work a way around this problem for years.

Considering I only get to watch nationally televised games (living in Belgium) the Lions-Colts game will be the highlight of the season. Gotta give us Lions fans something to look forward to.

I doubt it. We usually don't sell out the big games (Cleveland, Pittsburgh) until the few weeks leading up to the season, and some other Sunday games don't sell out until Friday. But that Monday nighter might be different, so the earlier you get tix the better. But I would doubt it would sell out this early.

The Reds used to get opening day every year, and would always play the first game of the season. Now they're letting the Yankees and Red Sox and whoever the hell else they want play in Japan and on Sunday night. Tradition just doesn't mean as much any more.

A lot of it has to do with the Reds not being as good as they used to be. I think if they opened up the Thanksgiving Day game to anyone, we might see better matchups on paper, but the NFL would lose some of the tradition they have left (and with the Super Bowl in Feb., that ain't much).

The only change that I would make to the Thanksgiving tradition would be to have the teams coming to Dallas and Detriot coming off a bye week. That way, they would not have to play a road game on a short week.

I'm not sure when it will sell out, but it will. There is buzz here like never before. Talk radio was going nuts yesterday when the schedule leaked. I know of a few people yesterday who are now planning to buy season tickets who had never done so.

But come up anyway, tickets are never hard to find on the street around here. Just don't buy any outside of the stadium.

Dec 19...most likely frigid...

Jags visit storied Lambeau Field
for first time in franchise history.

Jags do have a stretch of 5 games where 4 are at home. Great!
Only once do the Jags have back to back road games. Nice!

All in all, a decent schedule, thought they might put
at SanDiego and at Oakland back to back for the west coast trip.
Instead they put: SanDiego early, and Oakland last game.
