LAKERS!!!! My brother and I went berzerk when we saw Kobe hit those 2 shots. The guy can flat out play and he is clutch.

Don't they have to get past round 1 before they worry about losing to the Spurs?

You're talking to Lakers fans. They're already dreaming up their championship lineup in 2006.

Bug, my point is if Kobe mailed it in - and he pretty clearly did - during the regular season, what's to stop him from doing it in the playoffs if he REALLY has an axe to grind here?

A player who would betray his team's trust that way is a player who pretty clearly can't be trusted, regardless of his level of talent. Lakers got the #2 seed. Whoopee. On paper, they should be the NBA champs this year. Frankly, I don't see it happening.

Actually, Bug told me this team wouldn't lose more than 9 games this year.

#2 doesn't sound so good anymore.

They also said the Titanic was unsinkable.

I kinda tend to stay away from overwrought predictions like that.

That said...if UConn did in fact win the NCAA championship despite being on the preseason cover of SI...does that mean that jinx is over? And the Cubs or Red Sox will actually win the Series this year?

I actually liked the Lakers chances better as the four seed. They match up well with Dallas and Minnesota has never been there before. Instead, the Rockets will give them trouble and they struggle with the Spurs. They still may win it all, but I think this is the tougher road.

Didn't Sacramento have home field advantage for a game 7? Oh yea they did and what happened? Enough said. Let the games begin.

Silly wabbit, there is no SI cover jinx. Just an unrelated and irregular series of high-profile failures that happen to people or teams who happen to be good enough to get slapped on the cover of that steaming pile of a magazine.

I can't imagine the Lakers are happy about having to potentially go through Houston, San Antonio, Sacromento, and then Indiana or Detroit to win the championship. That's going to be 16 very tough wins...

Oh I am not bitter. We had our years at the top. I am still a season ticket holder for the Bulls, and I freely admit they are horrendous.

I am just curious what exactly kind of fumes that Pacific Ocean gives the sports fans over in the west coast. Whatever it is, I want some.

Right. Most of them are unaware that they actually lost the championship in 2003. They think it is awarded based on media coverage, therefore, the Lakers were clear champs.

Nah, Fritz, myself, and Neuqua (even though he think's he call ball) were better role players then the Lakers had last year.

I also believe Kobe is gone after this year.

But, at the end of the day, it gives the Laker haters something to talk about and I seriously doubt the Lakers win less then 70 games this year. Anything less, I'm disappointed

This is too easy.

I guess it's a good day when you can win the Pacific and still call it a disappointment.

Oh god I hope not!

Please don't say that... we really don't want the Lakers to become the Yankees

I dunno, eternal distaste, a regional team that will never win no matter how good of a team they have, the "boss" runs them....

Oh Yea, I forgot that the playoffs are about to start. See I'm a Warriors fan, the playoffs are really foreign to us since we haven't been there in a fricken DECADE!
