Defensive Playcalling

I'm not quite sure how many of you all play out your games, but this is something that I do all the time - except for pre-season.

However, when it comes to defensive playcalling, I'm always having my coach call the plays. I'm re-considering using that method, and think I'll be trying to call all of my defensive plays in the future. The thing is, what defensive plays seem to be 'safe bets'? I've managed to get some quality defensive players, and would at least like to maximize their use - pending on the play I call.

What situations would most folks use aggressive calls, and how many men on a blitz? I tinkered around with it before in the beginning of my 2K4 career, but get myself seriously burned for big yardage. Any advice appreciated!
