I just watched the movie for the first time. I thought it was pretty good. I had seen The Hidden Fortress not too long ago and didn't think much of it, but this one was great. What other good Akira Kurosawa movies are there?

Great movie. My favorite is "The Idiot" and "Rhapsody In August" is pretty good. He also did the Japanese sequences in "Tora! Tora! Tora!"

Rashoman is great. Throne of Blood(MacBeth) and Ran(King Lear) are very good.

I'm looking to see the Idiot next. I've seen Samurai, Ran and Throne of Blood and can say I've enjoyed them all immensely and the order I listed them in is from favorite to least.

Yojimbo and Sanjuro are two other b/w samurai movies with Toshiro Mifune, not as epic as "Seven...", but very much recommended.

I dunno... with that half-hearted review, why are you bothering to look for more Kurosawa?

I personally think that you can't miss with Ran, Yojimbo, and Rashomon... but I'm not sure any will get past "pretty good" on your scale if Seven didn't.

"but this one was great"

Anyway, I don't write reviews very well, so I decided instead of writing 3 paragraphs praising the film while pointing out the minor problems I had with it along the way, I would just get to the point. It's a character trait of mine.
