I thought I'd give this game a try after being very disappointed with OOTP6. I downloaded/installed the game and got this message:
"Welcome to PureSim Baseball 2004, the 3rd installment of the critically acclaimed baseball simulation. This fully functional trial contains everything you need to evaluate the game and purchase immediately with no additional download required!" There is an "about PureSim" button and options to purchase, email to friend, license, and exit, but I don't see any trial. Does anybody know: 1. Is there a a trial of some kind here and, if so, how do I activate it? 2. If not, why does it tell me it's a "fully functional trial [that] contains everything [i] need to evaluate the game"? I understand it's a paid beta and don't mind doing that, but after wasting money on OOTP6 I don't want to buy another baseball sim without trying it first. |

I would, if it's still available, download Puresim 2003 and play the demo/trial of that. I know a lot has changed with Puresim2004, but it'll give you a rough idea of how the game is played.
Or you can wait until the game is officially released and play the trial then. ![]() |

Yep, I don't think you can play a trial version of 2004 quite yet. He's still in Beta, but it's a paid beta... or something like that.
When you do give it a shot, let us know what you think of it. Todd |

No trial yet
The game is currently in beta. When the beta is over there will be a full trial available.
The beta is going great and so far 100% surveyed have felt the game is improved over last year with 75 - 80% rating it "Very Good" or "Huge Leap Over Last Year" The most positive comments have been on the speed improvements and new user interface. Folks also seem to be very pleased with the game's stability, especially for a beta. I'm still on schedule for release some time in mid to late May, though the beta testers themselves will play a key role in helping me decide when it's "ready". |

You should clarify on the download page or in a readme.txt that trial won't be available the official release or else change the language in the installation. I'll probably give it try when it's ready. Thanks. |

Its is clarified on the download page. What page did you download it from?

The download page is silent on the issue, but I assumed there might be a trial since somebody told me to try the PureSim demo and I know it is standard practice with text sims (like past versions of PureSim) to have some kind of a trial. So I downloaded it to find out. That's when I read this: "Welcome to PureSim Baseball 2004, the 3rd installment of the critically acclaimed baseball simulation. This fully functional trial contains everything you need to evaluate the game and purchase immediately with no additional download required!" Maybe you're right, but to me it would be clearer just to say on the download page that a fully functional trial will be available upon release.

Shaun, it could be the fact that I'm running it in Virtual PC (Windows 2000) on my Mac, but I can't get past the 'Create Association' screen. When I click the 'Use geography-based levels' or 'Use Equal Finances' (by the way, decide on capitals or not! :P), those are the only options I get. There's no continue button or anything else I can click on. Any suggestions? I have installed IE 6 SP1, but it might be Virtual PC's fault.
If so, d'oh. Edit: I got it working, but I had to use quickstart instead. Seems that the buttons didn't come up down the bottom - DirectX issue? not sure.

Bump...un-stick.
(FYI, with there being several Puresim beta releases, I'm probably not going to archive any more until the finale. Just remember that the latest version can always be found at www.puresim.com)
