This line in this article from the Newark Star Ledger pretty much sums up our pathetic season so far.

The umpires had told Padres manager Bruce Bochy before the game that if Otsuka does it with men on base, they would have had to call a balk. Problem is, the Mets can't get men on base.

Ouch.

Why do all the teams I like have to suck so much?

What amazes me is the high hopes the hosts on WFAN (as well as the callers) have for the team each season. The team was absolutely horrid last year, and somehow adding a centerfielder who strikes out too much and a position player you don't need (their Japanese shortstop) is going to change all this?

Their pitching stinks, and their lineup is filled with 37 year olds who strike out. That's a winning combo?

Listening to Mike & The Mad Dog try and figure out whats going on with Jose Reyes is funny as hell. At the rate he's going he should be ready for opening day next year.

I have no problem with the signing of Cameron or Matsui because Cameron brings gold glove defense to the table, and Matsui hasn't been great but he hasn't been awful, and I'd rather have him at SS then have a guy like Luis Castillo or I don't even know what 2B they would bring in from free agency. Is their lineup bad? Yeah it's pretty bad. Even if everyone was healthy they still don't have a 5 hitter and they have no power from the IF corners, but their starting pitching has been pretty good so far this year, and their bullpen has been pathetic and blown a bunch of games.
