Guesstimates #3 Results
Some fairly interesting responses:
1. In 2000-2001, how many pounds of oranges per capita were consumed in the USA? For this question, I think some people misunderstood the term per capita which means per person. The correct answer: 86.4 - according to the USDA 12.3 pounds of oranges per person were consumed as whole oranges and 74.3 pounds of oranges per capita were consumed as orange juice. Score: 5 points: Sublime, 80 (6.4 differential) 4 points: Eaglefan, 75 (11.4 differential) 2.5 points: kingfc22 and General Mike, 45 (41.4 differential) 1 point: Ravenhawk, 35 (51.4 differential) Nonscorers: JeeberD, 150 (63.6) Quiksand, 15 (71.4) Draft Dodger, 12 (74.4) SirFozzie, 12 (74.4) butter_of_69, 10 (76.4) Kam, 7.3 (79.1) Henry296, 6 (80.4) tucker342, 200 (113.6) RPI-Fan, 12.3 million (12.299 million) mauboy1, 25 million (24.999 million) KevinNU7, 77 million (76.999 million) 2. Quote:
797 is only an average of 72 per year over 11 seasons, figure they had 2 world series titles which would raise the number a bit so that's about right. You're guess of 555 has them having an AVERAGE record of 50-112 for the past 11 years. Hope that helps bring the numbers back into focus. |
