I really wish they would stop perpetuating the Doubleday myth. He couldn't have written the rules in 1839 in Cooperstown because he was at the USMA that year and couldn't go on leave.

DD, believe it or not, I have direct ancestors that lived around Pittsfield in 1791 and then migrated to Central NY in the early 1800s. So yes, I remembered vaguely.
