FOF2004 Help in cutting down passing yards against
Well got another question. For some reason, I'm letting up tons of passing yards and I'm not sure why. My defensive corps seem alright enough. I've also dialed down the expect run percentage from the scout's recommendation. Perhaps it's still to high. Any help?

Make sure you are running coverages that your CBs and Ss are good at running, no good running bump and run when your CBs are terrible at that type of coverage.
Also, I always try to have two great CBs (60 or above), if I have some lesser CBs I make sure that their skills in pass coverage are good, maybe low Run Defense or Interceptions. Also, blitzing helps as well, so you may want to check your blitzing percentages. |

Good teams tend to give up lots of yards passing because they tend to get ahead early and force their opponents to pass more. For that reason, I focus more on yards/pass and the sack and interception numbers than gross yards allowed per pass.

My passing yards allowed starting going down when I started to make sure each of my secondary was above 50 in man-to-man. I wanted my starters to be balanced and my nicklel and dime personnel to be at good at man-to-man.

What do you guys think about setting your defensive coverage scheme to fit your starting CB's abilities? Like, is it wise to elimite man-to-man coverage from your d plan if both your starting CB's have 0's ratings at it? And then the opposite of that, if both are 100's at bump and run, should you strictly just play bump the whole time?

My yards per attempt are pretty high as well. The Scout Recommendation settings generally have Man to Man and Bump and Run pretty balanced (25 and 24 in normal situations). My CBs do tend to be good at bump and run. Should I significantly bump up the settings?
My blitz frequency tend to be at 40+. I'm wondering if it's because I'm expecting run still a bit too much. I tried dialing up the aggressive pass defense setting and I'm not sure if that helped. What about double teaming by CBs? Orient CBs by WR covered? Last edited by Goose : 05-21-2004 at 05:41 PM. |
