Question Making One of Your Players the Coach

Okay, first off, how is this done? Does anyone have the specifics?

..and secondly, would this be a good idea?

Here is my current Coach/Manager:

Code:
Matt Yancey (12422053) 39 years, wretched form, healthy A inadequate trainer who is fond of attacking A sympathetic guy who is fiery and dishonest. Has poor experience and inadequate leadership abilities. Nationality: USA Assessed value: 0 US$ Wage: 500 US$/week Owner: First Coast Conquistadors Warnings: 0 Stamina: excellent Goaltending: disastrous Playmaking: disastrous Passing: disastrous Winger: disastrous Defending: disastrous Scoring: disastrous Set Pieces: disastrous Career Goals: 0 Career Hattricks: 0 League goals this season: 0 Cup goals this season: 0 [/size]

...and here is the guy I would possibly like to see running the show...

Code:
Eloy Bohannon (3011455) 32 years, passable form, healthy A nasty fellow who is temperamental and honest. Has excellent experience and solid leadership abilities. Nationality: USA Assessed value: 22 000 US$ Wage: 930 US$/week Owner: First Coast Conquistadors Warnings: 1 Stamina: excellent Goaltending: wretched Playmaking: wretched Passing: weak Winger: wretched Defending: weak Scoring: passable Set Pieces: disastrous Career Goals: 98 Career Hattricks: 10 League goals this season: 7 Cup goals this season: 4 [/size]

Thoughts? Help!!!

Thanks!!

Just go to training, then change coach, use existing player, then choose the level you want him and his play style. To make him a solid coach would probably cost in the $650-$680 range.

I would make him my new coach as soon as I could afford it.

Damn, I've got to pay to make him my Coach?? I figured since he was already on my roster that I could just make him the Coach.

$650-$680K ? Yikes!

Oh, Thanks for the info Herd!

Since he's already on your roster you save a significant amount of money when turning him into your coach. A solid coach with solid leadership would cost $2.5 million if you recruited one externally.

Myles, using that guy to become coach would be a great idea. Do it ASAP.

But ONLY do it if you can make him a SOLID trainer. Under no circumstances should you make that guy anything less than solid.

He already has "excellent" experience, so he could even make him an excellent coach, so yes, he can make him a solid coach !!!

I envy your future coach. I'm sitting on a passable/passable.

And yes, I'd convert him the second you have the money.

Uhh, I'm aware.

I was just making sure he didn't waste such a great coaching candidate on making him a passable trainer.

Well guys, I've finally went ahead and changed my coach..

It cost me $613,600 to do so (Solid Coach).. Would've cost me $4.3 Million to make him an Excellent Coach (Yikes!).

Anyway, how long is the wait now for this to take place....

"Order accepted! It will now take a while for the player you have chosen to complete his courses and get his trainer license. As soon as he is ready to take over, you will get a notification under "Latest events" on the "Club" page for your team."

Thanks again for all the assistance with this!! I appreciate it!!

$4.3 million? Thats actually less than I expected. I have a solid/solid guy that I plan on making a coach next season or so. Since I should have over 10 million to spend around that time I will consider it. Has anyone done a study to see how much difference an excellent coach can make? It would be fun to use that money on a coach and 2 trainees who I could train for the U-20 team.

From what I've heard, an excellent knocks off half a week per level. So for every 2 levels, you save 1 week. Not exactly earth-shattering for the extra 3 million. But.....they also improve player form, and I have no idea how well they do that.

If you're getting U20 candidates, that's probably the only way to make it pay off. Especially if you train them up enough to be on the regular national team.

Half a week? I was hoping for a full week. Seems like I would get more use out of him if I trained winger or keeper instead of scoring.

It will come down to if I can grab a top notch trainee or 2. If I do I might just make him an excellent coach and see what happens.
