Honestly, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who dislikes Malone more than I, but it didn't look like that vicious an elbow. If it wasn't late in a blowout he probably wouldn't have been thrown out.

Probably the fact it was Darrick Martin kept it from being any worse then it was....

What? He admitted in the interview today that it was done on purpose.

The fact that this isn't the 1st time he's done something like this and he's never been suspended for it shows that it's preferential. He's pulled shit like this 4 or 5 times in the past few seasons and all he ever gets is a fine.

I think you might be suprised at how much hatred for Malone others have. I was totally indifferent towards the lakers(prefer the Spurs b/c I like Duncan so much, but never had any problem with the Lakers) until they signed Malone. Now I can jump on the hate LA bandwagon with glee, just so that dirty fucker doesn't get a ring. |

I love the Malone hate wagon. Everyone claims he is a dirty player. Stockton got the same tag. Yes, I am a Jazz fan, and no, I am not upset that Malone went to the Lakers, I can't blame the man for going to get his ring from somewhere else. The only thing that I hate is he is doing it riding the Kobe coattails after calling him out in the All-Star game a few years back.
He was being feisty that night, was basically getting the pick and roll screen that Stockton and Hornaceck did to people all the time, and he was sick of it. He did admit he dropped the shoulder as he came through it. preferential treatment? No, I have seen worse, and the player getting a standard call. Keep on hatin!

I'm glad you being a fan of him makes him not a dirty player, it's all clear now. If that had been Darrick 'Nobody Knew Me Till Yesterday' Martin who drilled Malone instead, he'd probably be suspended for the rest of the playoffs. The NBA has always been about preferential treatment... Not just for Malone. |

ESPN has a nice article up comparing Malone's treatment to Peeler's in the Kings/TWolves series.

Naw, I honestly would love to see someone rock his world actually, he does need it at times. It would wake him up. He doesn't drive to the hoop enough anymore.
Honestly, the only play I could call that he has done, dirty. Would be the elbow to David Robinsons head, it was completely uneccessary. But if playing hard equates to dirty.........

Sorry about that. But he wasn't suspended for the Brian Grant and David Robinson incidents (I also think there was an elbowing incident with Isiah a few seasons ago). Although they weren't from this season, it shows a pattern. Judging by the way the league has handled repeat offenders in the past, if he was suspended once this season for a similar incident, then he should have received a harsher punishment this time. Thats the way the leage has always treated these situations, why change now?. Instead, Malone is given a slap on the wrist. Call it Laker hating or whatever, but its also Preferential treatment. I also love how any time something is said about a Lakers player Lakers fans jump up and brush it off as "Laker Hating". Read the posts, its about Malone and dirty play. Nothing about the Lakers as a team.

I think this is more of a problem with the league than Malone or the Lakers. I mean.. if it was KG elbowing a bench scrub like Kareem Rush like Malone did to Martin, I'd expect the same fine for KG. Now.. if Malone did that to a guy like Spreewell, is there any doubt he'd be missing the next few games? I dont think so. Bottom line is that the NBA protects its superstars and says 'fuck you' to the lesser players.

I think you're right j25352857 (and how are they other 25352856 j's doing). If you go back to the last series and the Peeler, KG incident, there was some preferential treatment. Peeler hits KG's in the nuts, KG goes down. KG comes back up the court and fires an elbow into Peelers chest. Peeler fires an elbow into KG's jaw. Peeler get 2 games and KG gets a fine. Was KG's elbow enough to be suspended?

I'll definately agree that its more of a league problem than a Malone problem. The NBA has always bent over backwards to keep its star players in playoff games. The league has always been more concerned with who is on the floor than than running things fairly. Peeler deserved what he got. KG should have at least been ejected (if not suspended), and Malone really should have been suspended not only because of this incident, but also because of the Nash incident earlier in the season. These 2 games clearly show the preferential treatment given to the league's top players.

This will be a huge defeat if the Lakers lose. Too much talk about coming to play tonight and being physical. If you lose now, you have no excuse. For the T'wolves, they need to take either this game or the next or it is over. I don't expect Martin to have 0 turnovers again, but I think Wally can still shoot good, the mayor can hopefully provide some offense and then either spree or KG have to play lights out. Hassell could put in 10-15 to help too, but I doubt it.

When you first started comparing NCAA 2002 with TCY saying that NCAA's dynasty mode was better than TCY's, boy did I ever think you were stupid. But much to my surprise, you're intelligence remains the same (or worse) and your credibility has hit a low point. |
