San Francisco Player Report

Change in rating from after the 2004 draft (before training camp) until
first staff hiring stage 2005.
Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Atkinson, Matt QB 1 0 Curtis, Harry QB 5 0 Garcia, Jeff QB 8 0 Rattay, Tim QB 3 0
Jeff Garcia continues his improvement. This season he stayed healthy and played in all 18 games. The rest of the QBs had to spend the entire season on the sideline. All four is undercontract next season.
Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Barlow, Kevan RB 3 3 Hearst, Garrison RB 0 0 Scobey, Josh RB 0 0
Barlow got his +1000yds season. He has now taken over as the #1 running back in San Francisco. His mentor Garrison Hearst still managed close to 600yds and 4 TD. Roomers still say that the fan favourite Hearst can be traded away this off-season. Somepeople inside the 49ers front office points to Josh Scobey as the most valuable new 49ers player this season. He was cut bythe Bengal but fitted in perfectly as the kick-returner for San Francisco. His 28.1yds avg KR helped 49ers a lot this year.Harry Bishop was cut and was later picked up by Tamper Bay.He saw very limited playing time (6 Att for 10yds) because ofthe unexpected susses of eNFL 2004 MVP Curtis Martin.
Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Beasley, Fred FB 0 0 Nichols, Derek FB 2 1
Fred Beasley is now in his last year of his current contract. He had a fine year and the 49ers will go a long way trying to cut one of the eNFLs best FB a new deal.
Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Campbell, Artie TE 3 -1 Walker, Aaron TE 3 0 Weaver, Jed TE 0 0
Jed Weaver had a few very important catches for TD this year. But cant feel safe with Aaron Walker breathing down his neck. The player the 49ers can get best deal with will properly be the TE in San Francisco in years to come as they are both inthe last year of their contracts.
Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Battle, Arnaz FL 2 -1 Owens, Terrell FL 0 0 Bromley, Jim SE 4 -1 Lloyd, Brandon SE 8 -8
San Francisco needs to get Terrell Owens some help. Owens isstill rated in the top-5 among WR in the eNFL but this year wasvery average. He only had 56 Ctch for 902yds. A lot of people in San Francisco hoped that Brandon Lloyd would step up as SE and replace Tai Streets. He did improved 8 points in current rankingover the season but also lost 8 points in future ranking. Tai had anaverage season in St Louis where he started 15 games with 40 Ctch for 535yds. The rest of the 49ers WR is nothing more thenbackup material and people close to the team indicates that helpcan be on the way.

San Francisco Player Report

Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Gutierrez, Brock C 2 -1 Newberry, Jeremy C 4 4
Newberry had a very god year and also showed some improvement.Gutierrez on the other hand only got to dress up for 3 games. He will definitely not be back next season. He is angry for not getting anyplaying time and will not come back. Look for the 49ers to daft a Cin this years draft.
Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Boone, Riddick LG 3 -2 Heitmann, Eric LG 9 2 Stone, Ron RG 0 0 Vergara, Jumbo RG 5 -2
Ron Stone and Eric Heitamnn was the starting guards this year and will most likely also start next season. Heitmann showed great improvement (+9) and is under contract for 4 more years. Stone didnot improve any over the season but the two only gave up 12 sacks all season.
Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Deese, Derrick LT 0 0 Steussie, Todd LT 0 0 Harris, Kwame RT 11 0 Jennings, Stanley RT 5 -1
Harris showed the most improvement in current rating among allthe 49ers players this year. He has still not reached his full potentialbut when he is fully developed he and Derrick Deese will be a fantastic team. Harris is still allowing to many sacks (8 this season)but the fans love him anyway. With both Jennings and Steussie heading for FA San Francisco need to pick up some new backupsthis off-season.
Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Pochman, Owen K 11 4 Gardocki, Chris P 0 0
Pochman continues to improve and will be with San Franciscofor a lot of years. Gardocki decided to take another Year. Hewill now be in his 15th season. Some people say is shows inhis kicking-power, but unless a stud punter falls to the 49ers latein the draft he will be the starter this year again.

San Francisco Player Report

Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Engelberger, John LDE 6 0 Ahanotu, Chidi RDE 1 1 Carter, Andre RDE 5 0 Jordan, Orlando RDE 3 5 Williams, Andrew RDE 3 0
This is a very strong group of players and they will all be backin 2005. If Chidi Ahanotu decides that this is his last season new fan favourite Orlando Jordan will be ready to step in. It looks likehe will be the best player form the 49ers 2004 draft. All the DEhas improved this year. The average 49ers player has improved 3.2 points in current rating this year.
Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Adams, Anthony LDT 9 0 Douglas, Eddie LDT 1 -4 Young, Bryant RDT 0 0 Davidson, Shane NT 1 3
Among the nine 49ers games with fewest points allowed eight of them are from the 2004 season and the DT did their sharer to help. Bryant Young is the only 49ers player selected in the 2004 All-League-Award (second team DT) and he was also the only 49ersplayer last season. Eddie Douglas is the only in the group without acontract for next season. 41 players are currently under contract. Nonof the players leaving for FA this year started more then 2 games last year for the 49ers. The Vikings only got 33 players ready for the 2005 season but only 4 of the 19 players without a contractstarted more then 10 games last season.
Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Pease, Jason SLB 3 0 Peterson, Julian SLB 4 4 Rasheed, Saleem SLB 3 0 Morrissey, Walt WILB 8 -1 Smith, Derek MLB 0 0 Ulbrich, Jeff WLB 1 0 Winborn, Jamie WLB 5 0
Derek Smith has become a mentor to the inside linebackers andit will be interesting to see what that will do to the rest of thelinebacker-team. Smith, Julian Peterson and Jamie Winborn startedmost of the games last year and they will all be back to finish thelast year of current contracts in 2005. With Saleem Rasheed andWalt Morrissey out of contract, expect to se an upgrade in the weeks to come.
Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Dyson, Andre LCB -18 -23 Williams, Jimmy LCB 8 0 Jaime, Casey RCB 4 -1 Plummer, Ahmed RCB 0 0 Weber, Donnell RCB 7 -6
First round draft pick Donnell Weber will need more time. Its way to early to say if his is a bust or boom but most people had expectedmore from him. Specially the 6 points drop in future rating has disappointed. With Plummer and Williams under contract foranother season he will get all the time he needs. Another player withmore serious problems are Andre Dyson. He huge drop in current and future rating due to his injury has put his future in San Franciscoin jeopardy. The 49ers front office must be really annoyed that theydidn’t wait signing him to a new contract.
Code:
Name Pos Current Change Future Change Beam, Roderick SS 0 0 Parrish, Tony SS 0 0 Bankston, Walt FS 5 0 Bronson, Zack FS 0 0
Parrish and Bronson had another solid year. Both had PDPct over20 for the second season in a row. The are one of the best safetiesteams in the eNFL (together with New York, Miami andIndianapolis) and they will be back in red and gold in 2005. Behind them it looks pretty thin. Walt Bankston improved 5 pointsbut will never reach the same class as Parrish / Bronson.

Staff Hiring Round 1

In the first week of staff hiring 1 coach, 2 coordinators and 2 scouts accepted new contracts. The biggest contract was for Coach Wendel Wolf. He signed a $3.69mil contract with Buffalo as their new coach for the next 5 years.

Only three teams are now without a scout for the 2005 season. Carolina, Cincinnati and Minnesota are all in the market for a new scout. Most attention is going to rookie scout Wayne Totten. He has received five different offers with Atlanta willing to make him the best paid scout in the eNFL with a $1.74mil offer.

Only the Saints and the Vikings is in the marked for Def. Coord. Both teams properly tried to sign Marshall O’Donnell but he went with Jacksonville.

Two teams are looking for a new Off. Coord. San Francisco and Washington. Dwight Scogin (Off. Coord San Francisco 2003-2004) looks like the hot target. He already has 3 offers, with the highest worth $4.0 mil.

Miami and Minnesota is looking for new Hd. Coaches. Miami try’s to resign their old Hd. Coach Adrian Gordon but they got competition from two other teams.

Staff Hiring Round 2

4 scouts, 1 Def. Coord, 2 Off. Coord and 3 Hd. Coaches signed contracts this week. Washington managed to steel Dwight Scogin away from San Francisco. He will be in the US capital for the next 5 years.

That leaves the 49ers in a difficult possession. They are still without an offensive Coord and the market is not looking good. They will have to work hard to find a replacement for Scogin.

Another team in trouble is Minnesota. They are still without scout, Hd Coach and Def. Coord. They will need to take action soon if they don’t want to be left behind.
The biggest surprise this week came when Seattle reviled their list of players released. They shocked a lot of people last season when they said goodbye to QB Matt Hasselbeck without any form of compensation. This year they shocked again releasing WLB Tommy Polley and RDE Chike Okeafor.

It was no surprise that the 49ers decided to release Andre Dyson this week. It will cost the 49ers $20.000 this year and next year but they didn’t have a choice. His bad recovery after returning from his injury and his very low rating can’t justify him taking up a spot on the roster. It will save the 49ers $790.000 on the cap this season.

Economic report for the San Francisco 49ers 2003:

The total value of the franchise is now set to $607.5 mil. That up from $562 mil last season. Its back inside the top-10 but the 49ers is still loosing ground to Denver who increased their value to $763 mil.

The value of the stadium ranked is 9th in the league (11th in 2004). The San Francisco roster is valued the 8th in the eNFL (4th in 2004) and they are ranked 15 in support (16th last year). The economy is still a problem (like many other teams in the eNFL) and the 49ers are currently ranked 26 (25 in 2004).

San Francisco still made money last season. The profit went down 28% from $24mil to $17mil. They did have a bigger revenue (+13%) manly because of the two home-playoff games but the cost side increased even more. The biggest cost was player bonuses and the total cost went up 26% to $98mil

Last year only three teams lost money. This year the number has increased to twelve. Arizona lost another $59mil this year and has now lost close to $75mil in just two years. Green Bay also had a “bad” year loosing a cool $50mil. The big winner this year was once again the Redskins. This year the “only” made $92mil compeer to last years $110mil.

It was a disappointment that only 63.800 watched the home games last season. That’s back from 68.200 (-6%) in 2004 and ranked 16 in the eNFL.

San Francisco 49ers have once again asked the city with help to build a new stadium. The public support for a new stadium is still above 75%. The current stadium is from 1961 and needs an upgrade.

This year’s salary cap is set to $90.400.000. That’s up another $7.7mil from last years $82.7mil. San Francisco currently got 40 players under contract and $6.87mil left under the cap. The projected price to sign this years draft picks is $3.78mil and that leaves only $3.09mil to spend in FA. The 49ers will have to spend some time reworking some of the more expensive contracts. Seven teams is currently over the cap with two more having draft picks costing more then cap left.

The staff Cap is still 10% of the players cap $9.04 mil. San Francisco’s current staff counts for $3.03 mil against the cap. That leaves more then $6 mill to spend on the new Off. Coord.

Code:
Player with highest cap cost in 2005 Pos – Name- Team Salary – Bonus – Total – (Last years top player) QB Brett Favre – GBY $9.50 - $2.03 = $11.53 mil ($10.77 mil) RB Marshall Faulk – STL - $6.0 - $1.53 = $7.53 mil ($7.53 mil) FB Tony Richardson – KCY - $5.00 - $0.14 = $5.14 mil ($3.42 mil) TE Tony Gonzarlez – KCY - $3.40 - $1.53$ = $ 4.93 mil ($4.04 mil) WR Randy Moss – MIN - $7.56 - $2.81 = $10.37 mil ($8.88 mil) C Jeff Hartings – PIT - $4.25 - $1.23 = $5.48 mil ($5.2 mil) G Alan Faneca – PIT - $3.90 - $2.14 = $6.04 mil($6.02 mil) T Jonathan Ogden– BAL - $14.20 – $3.18 = $17.38mil ($8.89 mil) DE Simeon Rice – TBY - $6.00 - $4.70 = $10.70 mil ($11.78 mil) DT Bryant Young – SFO - $4.25 - $2.93 = $7.18 mil ($7.18mil) ILB Jamie Sharper – DEN - $4.75 - $2.01 = $6.76 mil ($6.21 mil) OLB Derrick Brooks – TBY - $2.73 – $4.67 = $7.40 mil (8.66 mil) CB Ty Law – NED – $4.33 – $5.64 = $9.97 mil ($9.46 mil) S John Lynch – TBY - $6.00 - $0.93 = $6.93 mil ($5.44 mil) ***************************************** Total cost $ 117.34 mil ($103.48 mil)

49ers closes deal with Clevland Browns

The roomers about this deal has been floating around for a long time but now its finally official. San Francisco 49ers have traded away RB Garrison Hearst + a 3rd round pick in the upcoming draft. Hearts was a mentor to the RB in San Francisco and had 3 years left on his contract. The 49ers front office believes that Kevan Barlow is now ready to carry the 49ers running game himself and that the 11-year veteran Hearts is past his prime. Garrison Hearst has only started 3 games for the 49ers in the last two seasons but has got playing time in all 32 games. His record over the last two seasons includes 8 TD on 283 Att for 1167yds. Hearts was drafted 3rd overall in the 1993 draft by Arizona Cardinals. San Francisco has traded him to Cleveland Browns where he will have the chance to be a starter this season.

In return San Francisco will get the offensive help they have been looking for. The last two seasons Jeff Garcia has only got one real target on WR to throw at. That has made it easy for the opponents to cover Terrell Owens and close down the 49ers passing game. When Brandon Lloyd didn’t show the improvement people hoped for in the last year this deal suddenly started to makes a lot of sense. In return for Garrison Hearst and the 3rd round pick San Francisco will get SE Dennis Northcutt.

Dennis Northcutt was drafted back in 2000 by Cleveland with the #1 pick in the second round of the draft and is in his last year of his contract with Cleveland. He has a base salary of $860.000 this season plus $40.000 in bonuses from the Browns.
Dennis adjusts to the ball very well and never drops or fumbles the ball. He can also be used as punt-returner if necessary. He is rated among the top-10 SE in the eNFL and will be an instant upgrade for the 49ers attack.

His stats from the last two season with the Browns looks like this:
Code:
GS Targ Ctch Yds Avg TD Drop YAC 2003 11 79 48 523 10.8 3 2 93 2004 11 115 64 839 13.1 3 1 132 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Career 22 194 112 1362 12.1 6 3 225

Pre-season Staff Hiring Round 2005
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Staff Hiring Round 3

The last pies of the staff-hiring puzzle have now fallen in to place. San Francisco went to rookie coordinator Roy Curtis. He is only 37 years old and one of the youngest coordinators in the eNFL. He is also one of the only three rookies among the eNFL staff. His stats look like this compared to last years off. Coord Dwight Scogin who went with the Redskins this season.

Code:
Curtis Scogin QB Good Good RB Good Average WR Good Very good O-Line Average Excellent K/P Fair Excellent Young talent Good Good
Roy Curtis will make $2.95 mil for the next 3 years in San Francisco.

The attendances report for the last playoff game against St Louis looked like this.
Code:
Upper Deck: 21,200 (24,400) – 86.88% End Zone: 16,900 (17,500) – 96.6% Mezzanine: 9,400 (10,100) – 93.1% Sidelines: 14,800 (15,500) –95.48% Luxury Boxes: 1,700 (2,300) – 73.9%
It looks like the prices for luxury boxes ($73.000 in 2004) and upper deck ($30 in 2004) has been a little too high. The 49ers front office has therefore decided to cut prices on those two groups by 5% and 10%. The other 3 groups will all see a small price increase by 2.5%.

The new prices for the 2005 season will look like this:
Code:
Upper Deck: $27 ($30 in 2004) End Zone: $57 ($55 in 2004) Mezzanine: $65 ($63 in 2004) Sidelines: $96 ($93 in 2004) Luxury Boxes: $69.350($73.000 in 2004)

San Francisco has decided not to use their franchise tag this season. All last years’ starters are already locked up in contracts and nobody with a contract ending this year was worth the tag. Last year 49ers tagged RDE Chidi Ahanotu. Has later worked out a new deal with San Francisco. Other teams will definitely need to use their tag. One of the teams who will need to tag a player will be New Orleans who never managed to agree on a contract with Peyton Manning.

Tamper Bay Buccaneers has started the hard work to get back under the cap. The first cap-casualty was LG Kerry Jenkins who have started 31 games for Tamper over the last two seasons. They also saved $6.00 mil alone on releasing FS John Lynch. Lynch was going to be the best-paid S in the eNFL this season. Now he has to wait and see what he can get in FA. Arizona and Cincinnati looks like possible employers for Lynch next season. The Buccaneers is still $1.1 mil over the cap but that is a small problem compared to what the have already managed to clearer out. Expect to see some big name players being released in to FA in the week to come when the teams from the eAFC West (Denver, Oakland and Kansas) begins their fight to get back under the cap. The three teams need to cut wages with more then $42mil in the weeks to come.

Some of the players ready for FA have already been out informing of their request/demands for new contracts. eSuper Bowl winner Plaxico Burress is looking for a huge pay-day (if he is not hit with the franchise tag by Pittsburgh). He is only the 3rd best ranked FL in FA (behind Harrison and Muhammad) but is still looking for a 6-years deal worth around $45 mil. Dallas will properly be interested but not for that price.

Last years MVP Curtis Martin is also without a contract for 2005. With the Buccaneers cap-trouble he will have to start looking for a new team. His is looking for a 2-year deal worth around $6.5 mil. He will be offered a lot more then that and Houston, Detroit and Dallas will be teams looking to get his name on a contract.

It looks like that last years Mr. Irrelevant Jim Gunn has decided to quiet football. He was drafted by Oakland as player #224 in the 2004 draft by never made the team. He has not turned his paperwork over to the eNFL before the start of the 2005 season and is nowhere to be found in the FA-lists.

Jeff Burris mentor to safeties. 12-year veteran from Cincinnati. Bobby Hamilton mentor to defensive ends. 10-year veteran fro New England. Jonas Jennings mentor to offensive tackles. 5-year veteran from Cincinnati. Marcellus Rivers mentor to tight ends. 5-year veteran from New York. Joe Dean Davenport mentor to tight ends. 5-year veteran from Indianapolis.

The 2001 draft class must have been something special. It looks like the normal mentor has +9 years of experience. But for some reason 5 players from the 2001 draft has made this years mentor-list.

Not one single QB made the list. Among the 32 QB in FA only 6 of them actually played a game last season and they have a combined career record of 15-28. The best-rated QB is 11-year veteran Kordell Stewart but Shaun King will also get some attention this off-season. That is bad new for the teams missing a QB (Carolina, Seattle and Chicago) specially considering that the 2005 draft will be without a franchise-QB.

5 teams decided to use the opportunity to franchise a player:
Code:
St Louis Rams: RG Marques Sullivan $ 4.250.000 New Orleans Saints: QB Peyton Manning $ 7.800.000 New England Patriots: RG Joe Andruzzi $ 4.140.000 Indianapolis Colts: WR Marvin Harrison $ 6.940.000 Cincinnati Bengals: DT Tony Williams $ 4.460.000 Atlanta Falcons: LG Travis Claridge $ 4.020.000

The eNFL has not clarified why all three guard hit with the franchise tag has not been presented with the same contract. The official top-5 average offensive guard salary in the eNFL this year is $4.320.000 but the players franchised all received contracts below that.

A few big trades have also been announced this week. The biggest was the deal between Arizona and Tampa Bay. Tampa got RB Mike Anderson, WLB Gerald Hayes and a 2nd round draft pick from Arizona. Both have contracts counting less the $1 mill against the cap. In return the send DT Warren Sapp and DE Simeon Rice to Arizona. They have a combined cap hit of more then $11.0 mil this year and Arizona was one of the few teams who could afford these two top players. This was of cause a hard blow to the Buccaneers defense but it did put the back under the cap with money to spend in FA ($4.76 mil). Arizona had a fantastic offense last year but didn’t have the defense to back it up. With this deal they have gone a long way in changing that and will be a team to recon with in the eNFC West.

That's interesting about the Guards. My guess is that we're victims of the alphabet again. Atlanta went first, then when New England went up, the top 5 salaries went up (as a result of Atlanta's franchising). By the time we got down to St. Louis, the top 5 salaries had gone up again.

FA Round 2 2005
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pick up your mentor

Do you know what the following teams all have in common?

Baltimore, Detroit, Minnesota, New England, New York (G), Oakland, San Francisco, Tennessee and Washington.

The correct answer is that they all got a star-player with a contract taking up more then 10% of the total cap available in 2005 ($90.400.000).

SFO QB Jeff Garcia 10,18%
NYG QB Kerry Collins 10,29%
WAS LT Chris Samuels 10.66%
OAK QB Rich Gannon 10,98%
NED CB Ty Law 11,03%
MIN WR Randy Moss 11.47%
DET QB Joey Harrington 11.66%
TEN QB Steve McNair 12,74%
BAL LT Jonathan Ogden 19.23%

All the teams managed to get back under the cap this week. Only three teams (PIT, TEN, BUF) still need to free up some extra space to be able to sign all draft picks.

The biggest new contract of the year was signed in Green Bay. The Packers front office and Brett Favre managed to agree on a new 5-year deal worth more then $55 mil. The deal look like this:
Salary Bonus
This season $920.000 $3.740.000
Season 2 $10.000.000 $3.740.000
Season 3 $11.000.000 $1.910.000
Season 4 $12.000.000 $1.910.000
Season 5 $13.000.000 $1.710.000

With Favre heading in to his 15th season Green Bay is gambling that he wont quit next year and walk away with his $8.5 mil in guarantied bonus money.

This week San Francisco signed a 2-year deal with C Brad Meester. He is a journeyman who has been in Jacksonville and Minnesota the last two years. He will replace Brock Gutierrez as backup for Jeremy Newberry. Brock Gutierrez was unhappy with lack of playing time. He is now on the way to sign a 3-yar deal with the Rams.

22 players signed in the first round of FA (last year it was 10 in the first round). The biggest signing came from the Colts who spend $28.47 mil over 6 years for the Lions RT Stockar McDougle.

Seattle started to spend some of all their money by picking up FS John Lynch (released by TBY). The price was around $8 mil over 3 years.

QB Jeff Blake who spend all last season on the bench in Arizona after loosing his starting job to Trent Dilfer will have a fair chance of being a starter again this season. He will dress up for the Colts this year. Arizona is trying to get a new backup for Dilfer and has put in an offer for Shaun King.

4 RB was targeted in round one. Michael Pittman was the only one to sign. He will be the backup guy for Travis Henry this year in Buffalo. It was a surprise to a lot of people that Duce Staley did got get any offers in the first round but that eNFL 2004 MVP Curtis Martin (472 Att, 2167yds, 12 TD) is a huge upset.

The market is big for WR this year. 10 players got offers in round one. Plaxico Burress, Corey Bradford, Troy Brown and Antonio Freeman is all waiting for better offers while Mushin Muhammad went with the $10mil and signed with Carolina for 3 more years.

Biggest offer in round one was made by Carolina. They are willing to pay LT Matt Light more then $59 mil for a 6-year deal. Carolina is currently $29.4 mil under the cap is and together with San Diego ($30.7 mil under) the teams with most money to spend.

Beside their new Centre San Francisco had a quite first week in FA. They signed new and more cap friendly deals with QB Tim Rattay, TE Jed Weaver and P Chris Gardocki. New contracts were also signed with RB (and kick returner) Josh Scobey and TE (and long snapper) Artie Campbell. Jeremey Newberry turned down a contract offer worth $12mil for 4 years. San Francisco is $2.25 mil from the cap and has 43 players under contract.

FA Week 3 2005
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Texans spend $44 mil in one week

The 49ers didn’t sign a single FA in the second week of free agency. They also failed in renegotiating a new contract with Jeremy Newberry for the second week in a row. This week he turned down $12.0 mil for 3 years. Also Bryant Young turned away from a new 49ers contract that would have made him $13.5 mil richer over the next 3 years.

Other teams had much more success in FA in week two. Houston Texans spend more then $44 mil in this week alone. For that kind of money the got a new RB with the name of Duce Staley, C Rich Braham, G David Dixon, K Adam Vinatieri and finally DT Seth Payne. And they still got 8 more millions to spend.

The Colts used $29 mil one DE John Abraham and WR Plaxico Burress. That was the biggest single signing of the week with Plaxico receiving $4.5 mil in guarantied salary in the first year of the contract together with $1 mil in bonus money.

1 mil bonus over 3 seasons for Burress, small risk, didn't think i'd get him on it.

Swings the door wide open to move Harrison.

Pos: RB
College: Arizona
Adjst Grade: 6.1
Ranked: 5-7
Dash: 4.41
Sole: 20
Strg: 31
Agil: 7.11
Comment: Dallas was once again looking for the franchise QB. When he wasn’t there they quickly started to shop the #1 pick. I have a felling they will end up keeping it themselves and draft the one of best developed (86%) player in this year’s draft. He is not a clearer #1 draft pick but it makes perfect sense. He will be able to take the attention way from the fact that Dallas is still in need of a QB.

# 2

Adjst Grade: 8.5

Comment: Last year it was all about Brian Urlacher. This year he will get the help some help. If Dallas manage to sell the #1 pick and Jake Wilkerson is taken first Chicago will go with Xavier Scott instead. Wilkerson is also the second strongest guy in this years draft.

Comment: Miami will trade their # 7 and 8 pick to Carolina to get in front of Atlanta to draft Darryl Murphy. They can of cause wait and get Austin Meucci but he will not be ready to start this year. Murphy I sthe fastest player in this years draft.

Comment: Washington moves up to # 8 by trading pick 13 and 27 to the Panthers. That secures them the DE they need so badly. I they stay in the 13th spot they will have a hard time finding a player they can use. . Ray Dawkins looks like a great pick but it’s always a gamble to pick a player with a 77 vola-rate.

Ranked: 26-28
Dash: 4.39
Sole: 29
Strg: 23

College: Pomona-Pitzer
Adjst Grade: 4.9

Dash: 4.77
Sole: 23
Strg: 23
Agil: 7.31
Comment: Expect the 49ers to take QB Bob Springer if he is still on the board. Most likely he will already be signing autographs in Giants stadium by now. The upgrade to the O-line is nowhere to be found at this time in the draft. With the bust of first round pick CB Donnell Weber last year they will not make that mistake again.

I'm not done yet.

FA week 4-7
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

49ers will be no-show at this years draft

An official from the 49ers front office has just confirmed that San Francisco 49ers will not attend this year’s eNFL draft. The 49ers GM T Northwood has instead handed over a list to the commissioner of the eNFL with the names of players they want to draft. The 49ers will have the 25th pick in the first round and is expected to draft a linebacker or CB.

Some people have talked about the possibility that the 49ers will use their first round pick to get a QB that can take over for Jeff Garcia in the future. GM Northwood denied that when he was asked that question when he boarded his plane together with his family ready to start his two-week holiday in Malloca, Spain. He said that Garcia is only a 7-year veteran and still developing. He will have many good years in front of him and hopefully all of them as a 49er. He still got two years left on his current contract but GM Northwood also told that talks has started about renewing his contract.

GM Northwood also confirmed that San Francisco had tried to cut a deal with last years MVP Curtis Martin. The deal was reportedly worth around $6.00 mil for 3 years but Curtis Martin is still waiting for a better offer.

The big controversy this week was in Chicago. They signed LT Matt Light to a $55 mil, 6 year deal only to have the contract declared illegal by the eNFL soon after. Chicago must now release Matt Light back in to FA and take the cap-hit of close to $21 mil in penalty.

Former 49ers WR Tai Streets is moving again. Last year he left San Francisco to play for rivals St. Louis. He only lasted one season and has now been traded to Tennessee where he will be catching balls from Steve McNair in the next 3 years.

Draft 2005
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GM Northwood’s first thoughts of the 2005 draft

With GM Northwood back from his vacation in Spain we have talked to him about his first thoughts of this years draft.

Reporter: Lets start with the #1 pick. Miami made the trade and got the first pick in this years draft. They went with LCB Darryl Murphy from Wisconsin. What are your first thoughts?

GM Northwood: Makes a lot of sense. One of the mock drafts had him going to Miami with the #3 overall pick. They decided he was worth the #1 pick and went for it. He looks like the real deal but of cause we have to see what happens in camp, but I will be very surprised if he don’t turn out to be a super star in the eNFL.

Reporter: The 49ers drafted a CB with their #1 pick last year. How will you comparer the two players?

GM Northwood: I don’t think you can comparer them at all. It’s a huge difference to be drafted first or as # 14 as Donnell Weber was last year. Weber only started 1 game last season and had the opportunity to sit behind Ahmed Plummer and learn. With Andre Dyson gone he will properly see a bit more playing time this year but we drafted him for the future. Darryl Murphy on the other hand will have to step up from day one and perform without a lot of help. The thing that can speak to his advantage is that Jamar Fletcher is a mentor to CB and will be able to help him.

Reporter: What do you think of the moves of the new Miami GM so fare?

GM Northwood: They look strong. They have been realy active this off-season with a lot of trades. It realy shows some guts when a new GM takes over and starts by trading away one of the major stars of the GM. It’s true that Ricky Williams didn’t have a good year in 2004 but that goes for the whole team. But it still surprised a lot of people to see him traded to Seattle. They did receive Maurice Morris in return but he was then traded to Kansas in return for Larry Johnson. They also got RT George Foster from Seattle.

Reporter: San Francisco went for a FS with the first pick (#25) this year. Was that realy our biggest need?

GM Northwood: It was not our biggest need this year. We had hoped to find a G with our first pick but that didn’t happen. We also had our eyes on QB Bob Springer for a long time. We even consider trying to move up to get he but decided against it because it was to difficult to predict whom would possible take him. If we had decided to travel to New York and attend the draft we would properly have tried to make a deal when he was still on the board at #15. He looked like a perfect fit to sit behind Jeff for a few years and learn before taking over. I think Tampa Bay made a smart move picking him at #19.

Morris Strong was by fare the best player left on the board when we got to pick. We had him predicted to go around 15-20. He was the best S in this years draft and it was an easy pick for us.

Reporter: San Francisco already got one of the better pair of safeties in the eNFL. What will happen to Morris Strong behind Zack Bronson and Tony Parrish? Will he be keeping the bench warm for the next few seasons?

GM Northwood: I think we have a few different options. Of cause he can learn a lot from Zack Bronson and Tony Parrish but we can also move him to LCB and cover the hole after Andre Dyson. After we talked to his colleague coach from Hawaii we got a feeling that move can realy work. He is predicted to keep more then 95% of his rating level if we move him to CB. That will still give him a future estimate in the mid-sixties. We will make that decision when we see what happens in late FA but definitely before training camp.

Reporter: In round 2 you picked a tackle. Does that mean that Stanley Jennings will not get a new contract this year?

GM Northwood: Carl Boyer is very green and has a current rating of around 10. It will take at least two years before we can expect anything from him. Derrick Deese is now in his season number 12 and will not last forever and if Carl can reach he full potential he might be the solution.

Reporter: We traded our 3rd round pick (and Garrison Hearst) to Cleveland for Northcutt before the draft. The Browns used that pick to take a new WR. Do you still think we made a god trade?

GM Northwood: We are still satisfied with the deal. Northcutt will be a big factor in our passing game his year. Cleveland will have to wait a few years before they will see the same from rookie WR Dwight Johnston and that is only if everything turns out as they hope Hearst was too expensive to keep as a backup even with his mentor skills. Hopefully Austin O`Neal (drafted in round 5) can help fill the empty hole behind Kevan Barlow.

Reporter: You also picked a TE (round 7), NT (round 4) and LCB (round 6). What can you tell us about them?

GM Northwood: Not an awful lot. They all look to be decent backups. But lets wait and see what happen in camp.

Reporter: What is the 49ers plan for the late FA?

GM Northwood: We only got 49 players under contract (if all drafted players signs) so we have to pick up a few extra players. We have found a few names we want to talk to but I realy don’t want to reveal any names now.

Reporter: For the second year in a row your proposal for a new stadium was turned down. That gives you the possibility to move the franchise. Have you been in contact with people from LA?

GM Northwood: We are in constant contact with LA. At the moment we are working on plans to play one of our exhibition games this year in LA. But the 49ers will always belong in San Francisco. We will not move. We will try again next year to come up with a better deal for a new stadium. We still got more then 75% support for a new stadium, so we just need to make a deal everybody can live with.

What goes up, comes down

Its tough to make it in the eNFL and because you make it big one season its doesn’t mean that you will automatically be a star the next.
That lesson had been learned the hard way by last year’s eNFL MVP Curtis Martin. He arrived last year in Tampa Bay after the Jets didn’t renew his contract. In New York he only started in 1 game and gained 302yds on 83 attempts. In Tampa he got a 1-year contract and a GM who gave him a chance to prove himself. And Curtis Martin did just that. He had a fantastic season and ran for 2167yds (broke the old eNFL record by 219yds) on 472 attempts including 12 TD. He also had the 3rd best yards pr carry in 2004 and was rewarded with the offensive MVP award and the eNFL MVP award. His most impressive record for the 2004 season was his 3-game +200yds-rushing streak (229, 216, 208yds).

But this year he is still without a contract. Tampa did not want to pay big money to renew his contract. They have instead traded for Arizona running back Mike Andersson. He has received offers from Buffalo, Dallas, Indianapolis, San Francisco and Tampa Bay but they have all been way below what you would expect for a MVP.

He is an 11-year veteran but both his current and future rating is no higher then high thirties. He got descent breakaway speed and can get down field but he is defiantly not your typical stud-running back. He is currently the best RB without a contract and a lot of teams are looking to upgrade. He will get his contract before the new season starts but this was not what he expected when he received he MVP award a few month back.

San Francisco is one of the teams who have tried to sign him but he never managed to close the deal. The main reason was the 49ers lack of will to give him a big signing bonus. After they signed 5th round draft pick RB Austin O’Neal to a 3 year contract this week its doubtful if they will try for Curtis Martin again. The 49ers have now signed rookie contract with 4 of their 6 players drafted this year.

The last pieces in the puzzle

With only two weeks left in last FA most teams is now putting the final touch on the 2005 roster. Only five teams are still having less then 46 players on their roster heading for training camp.

Baltimore Ravens have 44 players under contract but has still not signed their drafted players. Buffalo is also without contracts for the drafted players and has 42 other players ready. Their problem is that they have only $180.000 left to spend. They have to start reworking some contracts.

The Vikings only have 29 players ready and have not signed a single player this off-season. They can be in a world of trouble. It will be interesting to see if their GM survives this time or if the fans of the Vikings demand a more active GM.

San Diego is now starting to get ready with new GM. They have signed 7 players this week and now got 39 under contract with more offers pending. The new GM will be Dr Feel. He is the former GM of the Saints. He has already left the Saints behind. The new GM for New Orleans and Peyton Manning will be announced in the next couple of days.

Tamp is counting 44 players on their last training but have made offers for several more.

Chicago got 74 players under contract and still need to sign two rookies and have contract offers pending.

The 49ers got 50 players ready for the coming season. Two rookies still need to sign contracts. 5 rookies have already signed and 3 other new players are also ready for the team this year. The 49ers hope to sign a few more players before camp in two week

The biggest cap-killer contract in the eNFL has now been renegotiated (counted for close to 20% of the Ravens total cap-hit). Jonathan Ogden finally agreed with the Ravens on a new contract. It’s a three year deal worth $29mil but its still a lot better then the $14mil in base salary he was going to cash in this year originally.

Another player who have finally found his place for the 2005 season is LT Matt Light. He was first signed by the Bears as an unrestricted free agent from New England to a 6year, 55mil deal. The contract was then ruled illegal by the eNFL rule comity. After the draft he was the hottest player around and had offers from 10 teams. He was offered anything from 1-year $4mil up to 6years $54mil. In the end he settled for the bid from Cleveland. He will stay with them for 6 years and get paid close to $48mil. More then 10mil of that money is guarantied bonus money.

Training camp over

It’s finally time to play some football. Most teams went to camp with around 50-60 players signed. One player missing from this years training camp was of cause Darryl Murphy, picked as number one by Miami in this years draft. He turned down the Dolphins two first offers and thefor was a no-show at camp. A total of 13 first round draft picks are still without a contract.
This was also the first chance for scouts around the eNFL to take a closer look at the players they have drafted or signed in last FA.
New England look like they have picked the best QB in the draft with their 3 round pick. Aaron Huffman is now the QB with the highest future rating. Before the draft he was ranked as the 8th best play caller in this years draft. The biggest breakout in this years draft is properly Jumbo Fields. Cleveland drafted him with the 11th pick in round 3. He is now ranked as the best rookie RB in the eNFL both current and future. He is even ranked above Ed Newsome witch we had ranked a #1 in our mock draft. The Colts was lucky with their 7 round pick C Dana Norris. He looks to be a possible replacement for Jeff Saturday in a few years. Green Bay got very good value for their money with their 5th round pick. CB Harvey Sorrell has moved up from around 15-20 among the cornerbacks to the top-3.

Now everybody is just waiting for the pre season games to beginne. In week one we will get a chance to see Cleveland against Carolina and the Redskins against the Eagles.

2004 eNFL MVP has finally found a new employer. He will play the 2005 season in New Orleans. He signed a 1-year deal worth less then $1mil with no bonus money attached. He will be the backup for Deuce McAllister.

First game of the season

This year’s football season kicked off with a bang when San Francisco travelled to Kansas to play the Chiefs in the first pre season game of the year. The two teams have only played each other once before. Kansas won another pre season game back in 2003 on a 16 points second half comeback. This year the fans were treated with no less then 72 points in total. The 49ers decided to rest some of the biggest stars. That gave them the possibility to get a better look of some of the new prospects on the team. QB Curtis Harry played the entire game completing 75% of his passes for 289yds and 3 TD. He mixed it up with 2 interceptions. Barlow only carried the ball three times today. That gave rookie O’Neal a chance to show what he got. He ran for 110yds on 17attempts, including a 50yds TD run. Terrell Owens also saw very limited action (only 2 catches for 33yds). The most interest was shown Dennis Northcutt and he looked like he would be worth his money. He started his 49ers career with 107yds on only 8 carries and a 23yds TD catch. Still San Francisco managed to loos the game. Mostly because of Priest Holmes and special teams. Holmes had two rushing TDs on the day and a 101yds kick-off return. A fumble return in the 4th quarter sealed the deal.

SFO:QB H.Curtis 21-28-289, RB A.O'Neal 17-110, WR D.Northcutt 8-107
KCY:QB T.Green 8-21-174, RB P.Holmes 12-34, WR E.Kennison 4-73
GMVP: QB T.Green, KCY – (8/21-174, 1 TD, 0 Int)
Did You Know:This was the second time in his career that Harry Curtis made three TD but still lost the game. He did the same in the 2003 game against the Bengals. It was a nice start for Dennis Northcutt. He had 107yds in his fist game in red and gold. He only passes the 100yds three times while playing for Cleveland.

Officials from San Francisco said after the game that they were pretty satisfied. They had seen a lot of great thing from the new players. They also pointed out that the 49ers defends (best in the eNFL in 2004) had never given up more then 40 points before. This would not happen again.

Next week they will play their first home game of the season against Buffalo.

Are you ready for some football

San Francisco managed to get true the last 3 exhibition games with 2 win and one more loss. The most important was of cause that they also managed to do it without loosing o many players to injury. The only 9ers player seriously injured is Brandon Lloyd. He is out for 5 more weeks with a broken clavicle. The rest of the team is all ready to play. Other teams did not have the same luck. Titans got 8 players in the injury list including QB Steve McNair who is questionable with a hyper extended elbow. Pittsburgh also got eight plays currently injured. It looks even worse in Oakland. They got 14 plays currently unable to practise. Luckily for them most of the players is only out for one week with influenza. The Saints and Peyton Manning will be without newly signed Keyshawn Johnson for 5 weeks due to a broken arm. The Packers lost LT Mark Tauscher for 4 weeks and Carolina lost CB Deon Grant for 3 weeks. The biggest hit was in Baltimore. A holding by the Eagles in the pre-season week 5 game injured Ray Lewis. He will have to sit on the sideline for seven weeks with a strained elbow tendon.

Other players will not get to start in week one of the 2005 season because they have been cut. Most teams will have to trim their rosters down to get down to 53 players under contract. A lot of the teams have done the job already but some players still needs to be cut this week. The biggest name who have already been released prior to the seasons is of cause last years MVP RB Curtis Martin. He was cut last week by Tampa and its now questionable if he will play football this year. San Francisco will need to release seven players to get down to the max limit. It has already been confirmed that LG Steve Maze will not make the team. One or two of the currently seven WR under contract will also have to go. The rest is still kept as a secret by the front office. Some analysts in the Bay arrear have speculated that the 49ers will cut their losses with QB Tim Rattay. He still got three years left on he contract but its doubtful if he will ever see and action as a 49ers play caller.

Only three players from the first round of the draft is now unsigned. Tennessee and Pittsburgh have not signed their picks yet. The # 8 pick from this years draft is also left unsigned. Kansas still need to work on the deal with SLB Ray Dawkins.
Can you name a few things Jim Gunn and Amos Neale have in common?
Here is the answer: They are both unsigned FS and were both drafted as #224. Jim never got a contract last year with Oakland and the same fate looks like will hit Amos Neale. Until now he has not received an offer from Pittsburgh

The cut
San Francisco 49ers have just released the list with the names of the seven players cut to get down to the 53 players limit. The list contains the following names:

FB Alan Ricard. He was signed as an unrestricted free agent from Oakland earlier this year. He became superfluous when Jim Finn signed with the team.

TE Christian Donakowski He was picked by San Francisco in the 7th round of this year’s draft. It was either him or Artie Campbell and Artie once again survived the cut because of his excelled skills in long snapping.

FL Daniel Clark With seven WR under contract this was an easy pick. Clark was the weakest link. -Goodbye-

LG Steve Maze Another easy pick. Maze got a chance to prove himself in training camp but didn’t take the chance.

SS Tommy Nixon Another undrafted rookie that didn’t make the final cut.

LCB Dennis Weathersby Dennis has eight games in the eNFL back in 2003 for Cincinnati. He was not good enough for him to make the team his year in San Francisco.

QB Tim Rattay Tim was drafted by San Francisco in the 7th round back in 2000. He have never played or even been dressed for a single game. And that didn’t look to change. He has hardly shown any progress in the year he have been with the team and it was just a question of time before San Francisco would cut him loose.

With those seven names official its now time to present the San Francisco 49ers team ready to kick-off the 2005 season against Arizona.

Did You Know:Joe Jurevicius had his first 100yds game ever.

The Texans have their greatest game ever (hyperbole? yeah, just a bit.) and the best snippet you could find was "Joe Jurevicius had his first 100yd game?" I am insulted. j/k

Actually, the "Did you know" segments are one of my favorite parts iof this dynasty. I am amazed at some of the things you do come up with.

My pick for the "Did you know" for this game: Tony Banks has the second best QB-rating in the eNFL with 118.4, after going (1/1-2yds, 1 TD, 0 Int)

Sorry SplitPersonality1. It just takes forever to make the updates and sometimes I just take the first that comes to mind. I promise to find some interesting facts / stats about your Texans this week.

eNFL 2004 Game Recap Week 2

TEN :QB S McNair 19-28-242, RB Carr 13-45, WR Hardy 5-58
SFO :QB J Garcia 16-22-149, RB K.Barlow 18-93, WR T.Owens 5-62
GMVP: QB S McNair, TEN – (19/28-242yds, 2 TD, 0 Int)
Recap:This was just not the start the 49ers hoped for this year. Two losses in the first two games is never a good thing. Luckily for the 9ers they are only 1 game behind the rest of the division. Up by 14 points with less then 10 minutes to play they completely stalled. Two times 3 and out for 0 and –7yds helped McNair to get back into the game. With just 0:18 left on the clock Shane Turnbull kicked the winning FG for the Titans. It’s not the first time they quiet playing after building a lead in the start of the game. The 49ers front office has to go back and take a look at the game planning when out in front in the 4th quarter.

Week 3 Recap

Due to the golf season and other summer activities San Francisco Chronicle is reducing the recap of the eNFL games to only a few games a week. We will hopefully be back in normal format from the 2006 season.

0 6 6 13 - 25
0 7 7 7 - 21
SDO:QB D.Brees 20-35-206, RB L.Tomlinson 18-62, WR D.Boston 4-71
HOU:QB D.Carr 22-36-315, RB D.Staley 15-47, WR D.Patten 4-108
Did You Know:This was the Texans first loss this year. They had won six straight games including 4 pre-season matches. Houston is the second best offensive team in the eNFL avg almost 30 point’s pr game and manage 6.2 pr visit to the red zone. San Diego made the last 13 points in the game to grab a come from behind win.

0 7 7 10 - 24
7 0 0 3 - 10
ARI:QB T.Dilfer 21-32-234, RB I.O'Leary 19-95, WR F.Jones 4-61
CAR:QB C.Weinke 25-35-283, RB D.Foster 10-31, WR W.Young 7-114
Did You Know:That Carolina has the worst turnover margin (-6) in the eNFL. 8 Int and only 1 TD by Chris Weinke tell the whole story. This was the second time Carolina is held below 55yds rushing in a single game.

0 3 7 0 - 10
0 7 3 17 - 27
DET:QB J.Harrington 19-38-211, RB S.Davis 17-46, WR S.Davis 9-53
SEA:QB K.Stewart 9-13-42, RB R.Williams 21-68, WR D.Bongiovanni 4-25
Did You Know:That Kordell Stewart have only tried passing 37 time in the 3 first games this season. Seattle avg less then 55yds passing pr game. They of cause lead the league in rushing with 157.6yds pr game.

14 0 7 7 - 28
7 3 7 15 - 32
:QB D.Culpepper 19-39-368, RB O.Smith 15-83, WR I.Bruce 6-218
:QB J.Garcia 23-35-349, RB A.O'Neal 15-77, WR D.Northcutt 9-168
Did You Know:Daunte Culpepper only needed three games to get past 1000yds passing. He has more then 300yds passing in all games this season. 218yds receiving by Isaac Bruce is a new eNFL record. 349yds is a new record by Jeff Garcia. The 490yds total by San Francisco is also a new team record. The Vikings hold the league record from last week where they had 600yds!!! against the Browns.

This was a huge win for the 9ers. Daunte Culpepper and the Vikings were in control for most of the game. The 49ers defends with an injured Zack Bronson was getting abused all day with long passes from Culpepper. TD passes for 9, 56 and 62yds helped Minnesota to get out in front with less then 10 minutes to play. But with help from some of the new faces in San Francisco Jeff Garcia managed to turn things around. First his second TD passes for the day to Northcutt (the first was a 70yds TD pass and the longest for Jeff Garcia ever) helped them get back in the game. With the conversion to Fred Beasley the score was 28-25 and San Francisco was only FG from OT. With 4 minutes to play Daunte Culpepper tried to finish the game with another long pass deep in to 49ers territory. From his own 38yds line Culpepper went deep. At the 49ers 37yds line WLB Jamie Winborn got hold of the ball for only his second interception ever. 10 plays later rookie Austin O’Neal took the ball over the line for the second time of the day for the winning TD.
Code:
1Q: 11:09 MIN - Daunte Culpepper 4 run. 1Q: 11:09 MIN - Patrick Speight extra point. 1Q: 05:30 MIN - Randy Moss 9 pass from Daunte Culpepper. 1Q: 05:30 MIN - Patrick Speight extra point. 1Q: 01:52 SFO - Austin O'Neal 28 run. 1Q: 01:52 SFO - Owen Pochman extra point. 2Q: 01:13 SFO - Owen Pochman 32 field goal. 3Q: 03:39 MIN - Isaac Bruce 56 pass from Daunte Culpepper. 3Q: 03:39 MIN - Patrick Speight extra point. 3Q: 00:51 SFO - Dennis Northcutt 70 pass from Jeff Garcia. 3Q: 00:51 SFO - Owen Pochman extra point. 4Q: 13:19 MIN - Isaac Bruce 62 pass from Daunte Culpepper. 4Q: 13:19 MIN - Patrick Speight extra point. 4Q: 06:10 SFO - Dennis Northcutt 9 pass from Jeff Garcia. 4Q: 06:10 SFO - Jeff Garcia pass to Fred Beasley for conversion 4Q: 00:53 SFO - Austin O'Neal 5 run. 4Q: 00:53 SFO - Owen Pochman extra point.

San Francisco is now 3-0 against Minnesota. With all the other teams in the eNFC West also winning this weekend this win was extra important. The 49ers can now look forward to next weeks game against division rivals St Louis Rams. Marc Bulger was rested this week with elbow problems but will properly be back to this week’s rivalry. The Rams also got 8 more players with injuries.

Week 4

Week 4 Recap

San Francisco 49ers GM T Northwood did not look very happy arriving at the press conference after the teams 3rd loss in 4 games this season. And that is easy to understand. This is very close to being the same team that was just a late TD from reaching the eSuper Bowl last season. This is the same team that last year played some of the best defends ever seen in the eNFL only allowing 283yds and 11.3 points pr game. This year the 49ers are dead last in passing defends allowing more then 9yds pr pass attempts. They allow a TD and a FG more pr game then last year and have a hard time hanging on to a 4th quarter lead. No wonder he is upset.

This week’s performance against rivals St Louis was no better. The rams did not have a great day with only 256yds on offends but it was more the enough to beet up the 9ers. Rams are now 4-2 against San Francisco in the history of the eNFL.
Code:
1Q: 10:39 STL - Marshall Faulk 2 run. 1Q: 10:39 STL - Jeff Wilkins extra point. 1Q: 01:24 STL - Tyrone Calico 8 pass from Marc Bulger. 1Q: 01:24 STL - Jeff Wilkins extra point. 1Q: 00:00 STL - Marshall Faulk 58 run. 1Q: 00:00 STL - Jeff Wilkins extra point. 2Q: 00:14 SFO - Owen Pochman 32 field goal. 4Q: 13:49 SFO - Owen Pochman 26 field goal.

SFO:QB J.Garcia 18-34-254, RB K.Barlow 16-60, WR D.Northcutt 6-73
STL:QB M.Bulger 9-13-103, RB M.Faulk 23-102, WR T.Holt 4-50
Did You Know:That after opening up a 21 point lead in the first quarter St Louis never got over midfield again in the game.

3 0 0 7 - 10
17 7 0 0 - 24
NYJ:QB T.Couch 13-28-176, RB M.Bennett 16-61, WR C.Conway 3-50
KCY:QB T.Green 20-30-217, RB P.Holmes 30-106, WR T.Richardson 6-61
Did You Know:That Kansas is now one of only two undefeted teams in the eNFL. Green Bay is of cause the other team. Trent Green is the only qurterback (who have started all 4 games) still without an interception. RB Michael Bennett already has 5 rushing TD for the Jets this year.

3 7 3 7 - 20
7 10 10 3 - 30
CIN:QB C.Palmer 23-44-229, RB C.Dillon 13-64, WR C.Johnson 4-68
JAX:QB B.Leftwich 19-31-258, RB F.Taylor 26-89, WR R.Blades 3-59
Did You Know:Cincinnati was sure Carson Palmer was finally ready to lead the Bengals after winning the last 6 games in the 2004 season. That didn’t happen. They have started this season 0-4. That’s the worst start ever by the Bengals. Dallas is the other team in the eNFL still without a win this year.

7 0 3 7 - 17
7 17 0 7 -31
OAK:QB G.Jansen 16-42-260, RB J.Fargas 9-27, WR D.Gabriel 5-113
NED:QB A.Brooks 19-33-222, RB K.Faulk 28-165, WR S.Aiken 4-65
Did You Know: Gino Jansen has lost his two first games after taking over for injured Rich Gannon. Today he was intercepted on his two first drives. Patriots were only 5yds from their single game rushing record with 205yds this week.

NYG:QB K.Collins 22-32-349, RB T.Barber 23-47, WR R.Dixon 4-109
Did You Know:That Kerry Collins won player of the week award with his 4 TDs. It’s the second time in his career he makes 4TD in a single game. He was the 3rd quarterback to do it this year. Only Green Bay have scored more points against the Rams defends (38 in 20003).

SFO:QB J.Garcia 20-28-211, RB K.Barlow 16-55, WR D.Northcutt 6-60
Did You Know:That Dennnis Northcutt got more then 120yds more reciving then Terrll Owens. The Redskins had a TD called back because of holding and a interception in the end-zone.

0 7 7 7 - 21
0 7 3 12 - 22
TBY:QB B.Johnson 18-31-215, RB M.Anderson 27-73, WR C.Lewis 9-91
MIN:QB D.Culpepper 17-27-216, RB O.Smith 30-153, WRI.Bruce 6-88
Did You Know:That if Daunte Culpepper keeps up this pace he will make over 50 TDs this season. He is still over 65% comleations for his entire carreerre. His two best WR already has more then 1000yds combined catching.

7 7 6 0- 20
0 7 0 10 - 17
KCY:QB T.Green 22-47-250, RB P.Holmes 19-93, WR T.Brown 4-76
OAK:QB R.Gannon 25-36-302,RB J.Fargas 8-37, WR A.Freeman 5-88
Did You Know:That Rich Gannon was put back in the starting lineup despite that his injury is not yet completely recovered. He is still listed as questionable with his herniated disk. That didn’t stop him for throwing his second +300yds game in three attempts. He also had 4 interceptions for the second time in his career. Trent Green also had his two first interceptions this week.

0 0 0 3 - 3
3 7 7 0 - 17
ARI:QB T.Dilfer 15-30-186, RB I.O'Leary 11-49, WR A.Boldin 4-73
DAL:QB G.Tucker 13-18-69, RB E.Newsome 27-157, WR J.Witten 5-29
Did You Know:That this was only the second time Arizona has been held to only a FG. The 255yds total was the second worst ever by the Cardinals. This was only the 10th win for Dallas in the history of the eNFL. 157yds rushing by rookie Ed Newsome was 4th best by a runningback this season. Only Seattle has less passing yards pr game then Dallas.

Normally after the five first weeks you start to see a paten. This year there is a paten but its just not the one you are use to seeing in the eNFL. Lets take a look at the standings after week 5. A lot can still happen. An injury to a key player or a small slump can change everything in a short football season.

Code:
eAFC North W L T Pct PF PA Conf Div Cleveland 3 2 0 .600 107 91 3-1 1-0 Baltimore 2 3 0 .400 88 94 2-2 2-0 Pittsburgh 2 3 0 .400 83 88 2-2 0-1 Cincinnati 0 5 0 .000 75 134 0-4 0-2
This division is wide open. eSuper Bowl Champions Pittsburgh got of on the wrong foot with their GM walking out on them after the draft. They will have to work hard to stay on pace with Cleveland and Baltimore. A lot of people expected Cincinnati to finally be a contender this year. They won the last six games last year but the start this year has put them right back to the bottom of the pack. This is the first time they have not won at least one of the first five games of the season.

Code:
eAFC South W L T Pct PF PA Conf Div Indianapolis 3 2 0 .600 121 117 2-2 1-0 Jacksonville 3 2 0 .600 97 101 3-1 0-1 Houston 2 2 0 .500 102 68 1-2 1-0 Tennessee 1 3 0 .250 52 64 0-3 0-1
The Titans is one of eight teams to have reached the payoff twice. This year they will have to fight hard to get back inn. Jacksonville started the season 0-2 but has now turned it around and is back over .500. Huston put all their hopes in Carr. Can this be the year where he finally shows his full potential? If the Colts wants to stay on top in the eAFC South Tom Brady has to stop throwing interceptions. He leads the eNFL with 12 picks after only 5 games.

Code:
eAFC East W L T Pct PF PA Conf Div New England 3 2 0 .600 122 95 3-1 1-1 Buffalo 3 2 0 .600 86 73 2-2 1-1 Miami 2 3 0 .400 57 62 2-2 1-1 New Jersey 2 3 0 .400 96 131 2-2 1-1
This race will go all the way to the line. They will beat each other all throe the season and that will properly cost the second place team the wildcard. They will play each other in week 17 and we will have to wait until then to see the clearer picture. The dark hose is the Jets with quarterback Tim Couch. Don’t be surprised if they come from behind and take the eAFC East title this year.

Code:
eAFC West W L T Pct PF PA Conf Div Kansas City 5 0 0 1.000 125 76 4-0 2-0 Denver 3 0 1 .875 103 90 2-0-1 0-0-1 San Diego 2 2 0 .500 80 73 1-2 0-1 Oakland 1 3 1 .300 99 105 0-3-1 0-1-1
Kansas and Denver continued where they left off last season. They will both be back in the playoffs this season. Oakland looked in good shape but the loss of Rich Gannon can already have coasted them the season. San Diego has finally found a stabile GM and just need some time to build before they can compete with the other three teams.

Code:
eNFC North W L T Pct PF PA Conf Div Green Bay 5 0 0 1.000 142 94 4-0 2-0 Minnesota 3 2 0 .600 136 121 2-2 1-1 Detroit 2 2 0 .500 67 89 1-2 0-1 Chicago 2 2 0 .500 79 85 1-2 0-1
Brett Favre looks stronger then ever but he has played this game for 15 years and retirement if definitely an option. Green Bay will be in the playoffs for the 3rd time in a row this year. They need to break the paten and start winning playoff games. The other three teams will have to fight for the wildcard. The Vikings has the edge with a very hot Daunte Culpepper.

Code:
eNFC South W L T Pct PF PA Conf Div Atlanta 3 2 0 .600 101 84 2-2 2-1 New Orleans 2 3 0 .400 83 100 1-3 1-0 Carolina 2 3 0 .400 63 73 2-2 1-1 Tampa Bay 1 4 0 .200 64 82 0-4 0-2
Carolina looks stronger then before but still not good enough for the playoffs. They have finally started to win games. Tampa Bay has gotten of to a horrible start and will have difficulties catching Atlanta and New Orleans. Peyton Manning is back from injury and will have to battle it out against Michael Vick for the eNFC South title. It will then be the first playoff for both teams.

Code:
eNFC East W L T Pct PF PA Conf Div Philadelphia 3 1 0 .750 92 62 3-0 1-0 New York 3 2 0 .600 121 97 3-1 1-0 Washington 2 3 0 .400 82 123 2-2 0-1 Dallas 1 3 0 .250 59 75 1-2 0-1

The Eagles is another team looking for their 3rd playoff. They can’t afford to make the slightest mistake as Kerry Collins and the Giants will follow them all the way (if Collins stay healthy this year). Redskins still needs more consistency to have a chance and Dallas needs a new play caller.

Code:
eNFC West W L T Pct PF PA Conf Div St. Louis 3 2 0 .600 86 74 2-2 1-1 Arizona 2 3 0 .400 82 96 2-2 1-0 Seattle 2 3 0 .400 62 90 2-2 1-0 San Francisco 2 3 0 .400 94 99 2-2 0-2
Very close. Seattle will loss out in the long run because of their one dimensional game plan. They still wait for the big play caller to show up in the draft. Arizona has a strong team but need to get the offens back in gear as they had last year. St. Louis will be around as usual when we get to the finish line.
If the 49ers was a baseball team there would be no need to worry. In a long season a small slump doesn’t matter. But this is football. You don’t have the time to spend weeks to find the rhythm. You have to be ready to play from week 1. Luckily for San Francisco the other teams in the eNFC West has also been dropping games. This is another division that can be decided in the last round when the Rams plays the Cardinals and the 9ers meet the Seahawks.

Week 7

Week 7 Recap

San Francisco spend most of the bye week planning how to stop Dallas rookie RB Ed Newsome. Newsome had close to 100yds rushing pr game and was the Cowboys leading points scorer with 5 rushing TD in 5 games. His 5.4yds pr carry also pus him in the top of the eNFL. But it all turned out to be a vast of time. On the second play of the second quarter he was carried off the field after he was injured trying to tackle LCB Jimmy Williams on a punt return. By then he had only carried the ball 4 times for –2yds. After the game he was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a separated shoulder. He will be out for 5 weeks.
That forced Dallas to throw the ball and that was just was the San Francisco’s secondary was looking for. Two interceptions returned for TDs help the 9ers to an easy win. Garcia did not have to do much. He only passed for 111yds on 19attempts and picked up 34yds scrambling. The 49ers must also be pleased to see Kevan Barlow finally get the ball over the line for his first two rushing TDs of the year. Zack Bronson was the big player on defends with 10 tackles, 3 assists and an interception returned 58yds for a TD.
The win takes San Francisco back to .500 and they are now only 1 game behind St Louis.

The 49ers also used the off week to change players on a few positions. Brandon Lloyd has finally recovered from his injury and will now have the rest of the season to convince the front office that he deserves a new contract. With Lloyd back on the active roster rookie SE Raymond Powell go back to the inactive roster.

A new player was also added to the San Francisco roster in the bye week. San Francisco jumped on the possibility to add a mentor to the cornerback group. That became possible when Pittsburgh released 12year veteran RCB DeWayne Washington. He was the starting CB in Pittsburgh in 2003 and 2004 and also started the 2005 season. He was one of the casualties of the Steelers new GM was released. He will properly not see a lot of action in San Francisco but will hopefully be able to help some of the younger cornerback mature. Specially his work with last years 1st round draft pick Donnell Weber. To make room to Washington on the roster San Francisco released 5th round draft pick LCB Brenden Finch.

Did You Know:That this was the first meating between the two teams ever. Dallas leads the eNFL with 4.97yds avg pr carry. That will proberly change with Ed Newsome out for 5 weeks. Dallas has the second lowest YPG passing in the eNFL with only 179yds pr game. Lowest is Seattle with only 79.0YPG !!

MIN:QB D.Culpepper 23-34-366, RB O.Smith 20-99, WR I.Bruce 6-191
Did You Know:That Walter Young now has the new “Single game receiving yards” record. He broke the old record by Isaac Bruce with 56yds. This was only the 3rd time he was over 100yds reviving in a single game. The Panthers also broke three other team records in this game. 48 points by the Vikings is second most ever in a single game Only two points shy of Kansas record. Chris Winke became the 8th quarterback to pass for more then 400yds in a single game.

SEA:QB K.Stewart 13-14-128, RB R.Williams 31-150, WR A.Bannister 3-35
Did You Know:That Kordell Stewart was only one dropped pass from Ricky Williams from completing 100% of his passes. Now he had to settle for 92.8% (13 of 14). He has completed 69.3% for the entire season and that leads the eNFL.

7 7 14 3 0 - 31

Did You Know: That Detroit set three new “Single game record” and one new “Team single game record” in the game against Tampa. This was the 3rd time this season Tampa was held below 50yds rushing. Tampa avg the most point’s pr visit to the red zone (6.0) of all the teams in the eNFL. But only 4 tams have been to the red zone less times then the Buccaneers.

Did You Know:
· That Green Bay lost their second game in a row after starting the season 5-0
· That all the team in the eAFC East is now at .500 or below
· That then Bengals still need their first win in 2005
· That a poll has shown that Tennessee (1-5) and Tampa (1-6) is the biggest disappointments this fare in this years season.
· The Lions (4-2) and San Diego (4-2) is the biggest positive surprises.
· That Kansas is still undefeated
· That the game of the week is Giants (4-2) vs. Eagles (5-1)

Week 8 and 9 Recap

Week 8

0 3 0 0 - 3
0 13 7 3 - 23
SEA:QB K.Stewart 8-14-76, R.Williams 33-111, B.Pyatt 1-31
SFO:QB J.Garcia 16-25-154, K.Barlow 20-84, D.Northcutt 4-50
Did You Know:San Francisco has a .800 record against Seattle in five meetings in the eNFL. This was the 4th time this season Seattle completes less then 10 passes in a game. San Francisco really likes the rain this season. All four wins have come in the rain and all losses have been in the sun.
Recap:The 9ers kept Seattle out of the red zone all day. San Francisco is now back on the right side of .500 for the first time this season. With the Giants and Eagles coming up in the next two games it was important to get another win.

7 14 3 17 - 41
7 9 0 0 - 16
NYG:QB K.Collins 20-27-285, T.Barber 20-75, J.Shockey 7-91
SFO:QB J.Garcia 10-19-119, A.O'Neal 7-36, D.Northcutt 3-60
Did You Know:That Kerry Collins became the 4th quarterback in the eNFL with 5 passing TDs in a single game. The 41 points allowed by the 49ers defends was 10 more then they have ever allowed before. It also ties the second most point scored this season. Collins have made 15 TDs in the last 4 games and only 3 Int. That gives him the highest quarterback rating in the eNFL (105.3).

Recap: San Francisco was taken back to earth after three wins in a row. Kerry Collins and his recivers exploited the weekneses of the 49ers defends all day long. TD-passes for 38, 40 and 54yds clerly showes the problems the 49ers secondary has this season. The 8.17 Yd/A is the worst in the eNFL. It will not help any that SLB Julian Peterson will not play more this season. He will be out for 18 weeks with a ruptured Achilles tendon. He is in the last year of his contract and its very possible that San Francisco will use the franchise tag on him next season. But that will now all depend on how he manage to come back from injury. The 9ers will also be without RT Kwame Harris for 5 weeks because of a broken foot.

Week 10 and 11 Recap

Week 10

7 0 3 6 - 16
7 7 7 7 - 28
SFO:QB J.Garcia 16-38-173, RB F.Beasley 4-52, WR T.Owens 4-44
PHI:QB D.McNabb 21-33-269, RB E.James 20-118, WR J.Thrash 6-87
Did You Know: That this was the first time Edgerrin James ran for +100yds this season. But he already got 7TDs (3rd most in the eNFL). Brandon Lloyd got his first catch of the season after returning from injury. The 52yds rushing by FB Fred Beasley is a new personal record.

Week 10

SFO:QB J.Garcia 10-20-118, RB K.Barlow 15-65, WR T.Owens 4-57
ARI:QB T.Dilfer 15-23-212, RB I.O'Leary 34-164, WR B.Johnson 5-54
Did You Know: That this was the 6th meeting between the two teams. Arizona has won both games this season against the 9ers. San Francisco won two games last year and in 2003 they split the series 1-1. Arizona was in the red zone four times by didn’t manage to make a single TD. With 3:24 left in the game Pochman missed a 54yds FG to tie the game. This was the second time this season the 49ers go off the field without a TD.

With only six games left in the regular season and down 4-6 the rest of the season looks tough for the 49ers. They will have to win the remaining games and still hope for some help from other teams if they want to get in to the playoffs. The Giants or Eagles looks to take one wildcard in the eNFC but the other is still up for grab.

San Francisco hoped before the season began to be able to duplicate last year’s achievement. They tried to keep most of the team together but this season has turned out to be nothing like last year. From this week San Francisco has decided to try to make some few changes to see if that can help kick-start the season.

The 49ers must admit that Kevan Barlow was not strong enough to carry the teams running game by himself. He has done a great job but the teams game plan have put way to much pressure on his shoulders. San Francisco have tried to run the ball 308 times but only thrown it 263 times. The 49ers is also all the way in the bottom of the eNFL in passing YPG with 181yds pr game.

Jeff Garcia is still one of the better quarterback in the eNFL. With his seven years experience and very high accuracy San Francisco will try to put the ball in his hands a lot more in the last few games of the season to see what he can do with it. With Terrell Owens and Dennis Northcutt in the receiving end hopefully that gamble will pay off.
Both Brandon Lloyd and Dennis Northcutt have been offered new contracts this week.

There has been some talk about first round draft pick FS Morris Strong not getting any playing time behind Bronson and Parrish. The latest story out of San Francisco says that Strong will stay second string out this season but that the 49ers are looking to trade Zack Bronson when the season is over. Some people have suggested moving either Bronson or Parrish to corner to make room for Strong. That will not happen. San Francisco has already committed to Donnell Weber and neither Bronson or Parrish will make the move to CB without loosing a lot of rating.

This week’s game against Houston will be a big tester for the “new” San Francisco. Houston only allows the other teams quarterback to complete .520 (best in the eNFL) of their passes.

Did You Know:That the Cardinal have only scored a total of 12 point in their last three games. After 11games Trent Dilfer had 21 TDs. This season he has only 8. Did You Know:That Peyton Manning have had 6 TDs in the last two games and that he is now one of only two QBs with a quarterback rating over 100. Only one team in the eAFC East is above .500 and its not Buffalo.

0 7 0 10 - 17

Did You Know: That Geoff Consulo is now the all time sack leader in the eNFL with 36.0 sacks. The season just keeps getting worse for Tennessee. This week they lost McNair for 4 weeks with a strained calf muscle. Expect CJ Knowlton or ex-Giant Damon Huard to start for the Titans next week against Kansas.

Did You Know: After loosing the seven first games of the season the Bengals have now won three of the last four. Randy Moss will be out for three weeks with injury. Last years eNFL MVP Curtis Martin is still looking for his first carry as a Viking.

DAL:QB G.Tucker 22-34-267, RB E.Newsome 20-28, WR J.Bromley 5-140
Did You Know that: this was the first time this year Dallas scores more then 20 points. Ex-49ers Jim Bromley had the game of his life with 5 catches for 140yds. This was the first time he was over 60yds. Dana Stubblefield resigned with Oakland after being released by mistake last week.

NED:QB A.Huffman 18-34-212, RB K.Faulk 23-116, WR D.Branch 5-101
ATL:QB M.Vick 21-33-236, RB M.Vick 4-24, WR P.Price 3-56
Did You Know that:New England finally got tired of all Aaron Brooks interceptions and replaced him with rookie Aaron Huffman. He had three picks today but still came away with a win.

3 7 7 3 - 20
7 13 7 10 - 37
SFO:QB J.Garcia 19-29-253, RB A.O'Neal 8-47, WR T.Owens 6-115
HOU:QB D.Carr 19-29-319, RB D.Staley 14-63, WR C.Bradford 5-108
Did You Know that:the player with most TD receptions in the eNFL plays for Houston. His name is Jabbar Gaffney and he has 26 TDs in the eNFL. Houston also have the eNFL all time interception leader in Matt Stevens. He got 19 picks. Houston now ties Kansas for best record in the eAFC at 8-3.

Jeff Garcia passed for 253yds with 1 TD and no Int in today’s game. But that was not enough to take San Francisco past high scoring Houston. The Texans have made 24 points or more in 8 out of 11 games this season. San Francisco tried to focus a bit more on the passing game. That gave Terrell Owens his first +100yds games of the season. Dennis Northcutt signed a new 5-year deal worth more then $25 mil and Brandon Lloyd also signed for two more years. For Dennis it was an up-and-down week. He got his new contract but also injured his foot and will be out for 2 weeks. Another player who possibly played his last game for the 9ers was Zack Bronson. He sprained his wrist and will be out for 5 weeks. That gives rookie Morris Strong his chance to prove that he can be the starter next year at FS. Bronson will be placed on injured reserve and San Francisco has already been approached with the first trade offers for Bronson.

TBY:QB B.Springer 23-35-306, RB M.Anderson 27-65, WR C.Lewis 7-91
Did You Know that:This was the first time San Francisco lost this year when playing in the rain. Rookie QB Bob Springer keeps his winning streak alive. He is now 3-0. It will be interesting to see if the Buccaneers is willing to pay Brad Johnson $8mil next year or if they will go with Bob Springer.

Week 14 Recap

10 7 0 7 0 - 24
0 7 10 7 3 - 27
IND:QB T.Brady 26-37-219, RB T.Henry 28-114, WR M.Harrison 5-50
SFO:QB J.Garcia 24-50-341, RB J.Garcia 7-29, WR T.Owens 8-146
Did You Know that:Jeff Garcia had two +30yds completions in the OT to Terrell Owens. 50 pass attempts by Garcia is a new 49ers record. This was only the 5th win for the season and the 9ers is looking at their worst season in the eNFL.

Week 15 Recap

3 7 0 10 - 20
7 3 0 7 - 17
STL:QB M.Bulger 16-23-184, RB M.Faulk 17-40, WR T.Holt 5-64
SFO:QB J.Garcia 18-29-246, RB A.O'Neal 12-57, WR T.Owens 4-62
Did You Know that:the win came on a 24yds FG with only 0:37 left to play. That was the finish of a 6:22, 10 plays, 70yds drive by the Rams. San Francisco is now 2-5 against the Rams. Injured FS Zack Bronson was seen talking to Rams GM Pyser after the game. Roomers say that he can be on the way to St Louis next year. The 49ers front office denies that and says that the last place they want to see Zack Bronson is with division rivals St Louis.

Week 16 Recap

3 0 0 7 - 10
3 3 3 8 - 17
SFO:QB J.Garcia 19-30-217, RB K.Barlow 11-29, WR K.Barlow 3-57
JAX:QB B.Leftwich 15-26-199, RB F.Taylor 31-86, WR S.Anderson 5-68
Did You Know that:this was the first ever meeting between the two teams in the eNFL. The game was lost for San Francisco allowed Chad Morton an 83yds punt return and Fred Taylor the following 2-point conversion with only 1:25 left to play. Derek Smith had 15 tackles. That is just one short of the eNFL record.

The 49ers are now definitely out of the playoff race. They have been that for a long time but with this weeks results the final mathematic chance was also wiped away. For most other teams there is still a chance. A record big number of teams still have a chance with only one regular season game left to play. In the eAFC only the Titans is out of the picture. They will be left out of the playoff for the first time in the history of the eNFL. In the eNFC things is a bit more clearer, Green Bay, Phili and St Louis will all be in their 3rd playoff in a row. Atlanta will be among the final 12 for the first time and the wildcards will most likely go to New York and Tampa Bay.

It looks like the problem was defense. SF scored about the same last year as this year, but they allowed almost twice as many points (only 184 last year but 310 in 15 games so far this year). The Julian Peterson injury must have hurt (4-3 with him, 1-7 without) and they lost a starting CB from last year who wasn't able to come back from injury. I wonder else what contributed to the worse showing.

Anyway, good luck next year Northwood. At least you'll get a high draft pick.

I’m not sure what happened but I think it was a combination of a few things.

No Garrison Hearst is not that good but together with Barlow they made a pretty good team. Kevan Barlow was just not good enough to carry the running game by himself. Last season he had 2034yds rushing and this season he will finish with under 1000yds. That could be a way to spend a high draft pick?

As Yabanci points out the big problem was on defense and that really surprised me. The Julian Peterson statistic surprises me and I guess that I have to upgrade my LB this off-season. For some reason I just can’t defend the long passes this year. Throw a long high ball against the San Francisco secondary and you have almost been guarantied a long TD.

Last season I spend a lot of time gameplaning every opponent. With a very short summer in Norway I have spend lot of time outside and on the golf course and dynasty and game plans have been put a bit on hold. The next two seasons (when its dark almost 24hrs a day) I hope to be more competitive.

I’m currently working on a review of the rookie quarterback class of 2005 and I’m still a bit upset that I didn’t get Bob Springer. Next year my family has to make holiday-plans that fit in to the eNFL schedule.

Good luck in the last round and in the playoffs.

Have anyone seen Tredwell ??

Week 17

Rookie QB Class of 2005

With the regular season now in the book its time to take a look at some of the rookie quarterbacks and how they were doing in 2005.

A total of 17 play callers were picked up in the draft. 6 more were later also given a chance in the eNFL after being picked up in late FA but none of them was ever close to start a game.

Name: Bob Springer
Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Drafted: Round 1 #19
Starts: 7
Yds: 1652
Cmp%: 58.9%
TDs: 8
Int: 9
QBR: 78.5
W-L: 6-1

Bob was the first quarterback picked in the 2005 draft. He started on the bench behind Brad Johnson for the first 9 games. When he finally got the chance after the Buccaneers started the season 2-7 he showed his great potential. An OT loss to Atlanta in the final game of the regular season ruined his chance of perfect start, but 6-1 for a rookie QB is not bad either. Unfortunately the loss in the last game also mend that the Buccaneers didn’t make the playoffs (first time the miss the playoffs). He will get more chances and will be one of the bright stars of the eNFL in the years to come. If he will have to wait another season behind Johnson or if the Buccaneers GM thinks he is ready start next year is the only question.

Name: Kieth Weaver
Team: Washington Redskins
Drafted: Round 2 # 45
Starts: 4
Yds: 1003
Cmp%: 52.5
TDs: 6
Int:12
QBR: 52.6
W-L: 0-4

Kieth was also thrown in when first choice Patrick Ramsey failed to produce (and got injured). He was not able to show the same great results as Bob Springer. 2 Int for every TD is not at good way to start your eNFL career. He still has great potential and will benefit if he can learn slowly behind Ramsey.

Name: Ralph Barnes
Team: New York Giants
Drafted: Round 2 # 46
Starts: 0
Yds: 213
Cmp%: 62.2
TDs: 2
Int: 2
QBR: 69.9
W-L: 0-0

Ralph was picked to help in case Kerry Collins would go down with injury again. That never happened and Collins is on route to a record-breaking season. He got to try out his skills in the three first games of the season where he was put on the field as closer for Kerry Collins. He had two 2 TDs but also 2 Int and lost two and won one of the game. Since then he have only been watching the clipboard on the sideline. He is well liked in New York but its doubtful if he will be the new QB in New York when Kerry Collins retires.

Name: Aaron Huffman
Team: New England Patriots
Drafted: Round 3 # 71
Starts: 7
Yds: 1671
Cmp%: 53.8
TDs: 8
Int: 10
QBR: 67.9
W-L: 4-3

Huffman have started the last 7 games of the season. Patriots GM Doug5984 has already announced that QB Aaron Brooks is on the block and that Huffman will be the starter next year. This is all part of the New England plan to rebuild. Huffman definitely has great potential and looks like a man to build a franchise around. A great pick/steal by the Patriots in the 3rd round.

Name: JT Flora
Team: Detroit Lions
Drafted: Round 3 # 74
Starts: 0

The same cannot be said about JT Flora. He is currently only 3rd on the Lions depth chart behind Harrington and Joel Cortez. He didn’t even get a chance in the warm-up games. He was signed to a 3-year deal but will have to show something in camp this year to stay on the team.

Name: Terry Presley
Team: Seattle Seahawks
Drafted: Round 3 # 82
Starts: 0

Seattle quickly found out that Terry Presley was not what they had hoped for. He was cut and roomers say that he will quiet professional football next year.

Name: Cris Witt
Team: Minnesota Vikings
Drafted: Round 3 # 88
Starts: 0

4th quarterback taken in round 3 and 7th overall. Spend all his time on the sideline talking to last years MVP RB Curtis Martin.

Name: Benjamin Gillespie
Team: Arizona Cardinals
Drafted: Round 4 #
Starts: 0

No action this year. Has some future potential but needs to mature a lot.

Name: Justin Nordbye
Team: Seattle Seahawks
Drafted: Round 4 #
Starts: 4
Yds: 439
Cmp%: 61.4
TDs: 4
Int: 4
QBR: 68.8
W-L: 0-4

Took over for Kordell Stewart in the last 4 games. He was allowed to throw the ball a bit more then Kordell. Has reasonable potential for a mid 4th round pick and will challenge Kordell Stewart for the top spot in the Seahawks depth chart next year.

Ellis Kidman (DAL) and Fred Odle (TEN) was both drafted in round 5 but didn’t see any action in 2005.

Name: AJ Brandon
Team: Seattle Seahawks
Drafted: Round 6 #
Starts: 1
Yds: 104
Cmp%: 71.4
TDs: 1
Int: 0
QBR: 116.3
W-L: 1-0

Talk about a strange first year in the eNFL. AJ Brandon was the second QB taken by Seattle in the 2005 draft. He got a 3-year rookie contract but was quickly released. He was then offered contracts from both New Orleans and Oakland but decided to sign with the Raiders. He was released again by the Raiders and this time St Louis offered him a contract. When Bulger went down with injury the Rams surprisingly turned to Brandon and with the help from Shaun King he managed to get a win. He only has a one-year contract and with zero skills in screen and shorts passes its doubtful if he will get his contract renewed.

Will Caldwell (HOU), Dusty Pearson (BAL), Luke Coleman (SDO) and Emmitt Alcott (OAK) was also drafted in 2005 but spend the year on the sideline.

Josh McCarthy was drafted by the Bears in round seven but was never signed to a contract.

That’s the class of 2005. A few surprises and some good players. The eNFL is still waiting for the first super star quarterback to show up in the draft. Will it happen in 2006 and what will the Titans then do with their # 1 draft pick?

Week 17 Recap

7 10 7 7 -31
7 3 0 7 - 17
SFO:QB J.Garcia 15-25-206, RB K.Barlow 17-87, B.Lloyd 3-79
SEA:QB J.Nordbye 16-24-135, RB T.Hambrick 24-73, WR D.Quesnel 1-40
Did You Know that:Geoff Consulo got his first TD when he returned Garcia’s 11th interception for the year 71yds for a TD. Consulo also got the 0.5 sack necessary to give him a new season sack record of 20. Seattle rested Ricky Williams in the last game of the season.

That ends a miserable 49ers season. Despite the win in the final game the 9ers still finished the season in last place in their division. That will give the 49ers the 5th overall draft pick in the 2006 draft only behind Titans, Redskins, Cowboys and Bears.

The Match up for the wildcard round looks like this:

(8-7-1) @ (9-7)

Baltimore won the eAFC North and knocked out reining eSuper Bowl Champs Pittsburgh. It’s the first time the reach the playoffs. Denver is here for the second year in a row. The got the last wildcard in the eAFC. The come in to this game with huge problems. Their GM taur was fired the day after the regular season was over. His job has been taken over by old Saint GM CarzyRoster. He will now have to try to clean the mess after. His toughest job will be to get the Broncos back under the cap. The will have to sign 18 new players next year but is already $25 mil over next years cap. That is mainly due to the former GMs active use to caped-out contracts in 2005.
Baltimore Ravens is 1-point favourites.

(10-6) @ (8-8)

The Colts finished behind the Texans and got a wild card but they had the 3rd best record in the eAFC. It’s the first time they get to the playoffs. They will play against Buffalo. The two teams have only played each other once before back in 2003 where Buffalo won 17-10. Buffalo won the ridiculously close eAFC East with an 8-8 record. They are in the playoffs for the second time in a row.
Indianapolis Colts is 3-point favourites.

(8-8) @ (11-5)

This will be the first time in the playoffs for the Saints and Peyton Manning. They got the last wild Card with an 8-8 record. They will meet division rivals and also first time play off team Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta had the best conference record of all teams in the eNFL (10-2) and has won 4 of 6 previous games against the Saints.
Atlanta Falcons is 2-point favourites.

(9-6-1) @ (10-6)

A rematch from week 17 where New York won a close home game 15-12. The have already played each other 7 times in the eNFL and the Eagles only got one win. That came in the wildcard round back in 2003. The Eagles is one of only 4 teams that have made the playoffs all three season. New York have lost 4 for their last 6 games and the Eagles only have 1 win in the last 4 games.
Philadelphia Eagles is 3-point favourites.

Lets also take a closer look at some of the new records set in 2005.

Individual single season records

Pass completions:
With Tom Brady’s 17 completions in the last game of the season he just managed to slip past McNabbs old record of 348 passes. Brady’s new record is 349 completed passes.

Passing Yards:
The new passing Yards record for a single season is 4622yds by Daunte Culpepper. That is 1 short yard ahead of the old record by Trent Dilfer.

Sacks:
Geoff Consulo managed 0.5 sack in the last game of the season against San Francisco to edge him past the old record (held by himself and Simeon Rice). The new record is 20.0 sacks in a single season.

Individual single game records

Rushing Attempts:
I Kansas he was stock behind Priest Holmes and spend most of the time on the sideline. In Miami Larry Johnsson really need to work for his paycheck. 45 rushing attempts in a single game is a new eNFL record.

Receiving Yards:
Nobody had ever been above 220 receiving yards when (CAR) Walter Young took the field against the Vikings. He destroyed the old record with more then 50yds on his way to a 274yds-day.

Team single game records

Total Yards:
600yds total by Daunte Cullpeper in the match against Cleveland was a new record by 60yds. The old record was held by Arizona.

Team single season records

Total Yards:
Minnesota became the first team with more then 400yds avg pr game. The new record is 413.5yds pr game.

Only a few San Francisco players managed to set new team-records in 2005.
Jeff Garcia completed 265 passes for 3312yds in 2005 and that’s new 9ers records. He also set a new San Francisco single game record with 50 pass attempts against the Colts and 349yds passing in the game against the Vikings.

Kevan Barlow got a new record with 10 rushing TDs for the season.

Derek Smith now has the single game tackle record for San Francisco with 15.

An finally managed Zack Bronson to defend 4 passes in the game against the Eagles and that was also a new record.
