How Labor Intensive is FOF On-Line?
Hey guys...
I'm FINALLY considering buying FOF 2k4... However, what really sells it for me is the on-line play... I know there are several leagues going strong, but there is something that is not quite clear to me... How labor intensive is the on-line play? As a player (non-commish) what kind of time commitment is there? How buggy is it, etc? |

Time commitment is really what you make of it. I could get by with 15 minutes per sim-day. However, I find myself devoting hours upon hours to it. It's insanely addicting...

like vince said, you can devote 5 mins a sim or 5 hours it's totally up to you.

If I wanted to be fair to the question...
To feel comfortable with my team, I devote probably a solid hour per sim. We sim twice a week, so there you have it. The off-season, however...that was insane. Like 3, 4 hours per day, and I still didn't feel prepared enough. It was so much fun though ![]()

I think Vince nailed it. My post count at IHOF attests to how addicting i've found the league. For me FOF now equals IHOF. They are one and the same.
![]() BUT you could definitely get buy with giving the game 15-30 minutes a couple times a week (depending on your league's schedule obviously). |

Hey Wade!
Long time no see. I exclusively play online now. I don't spend a whole lot of time of the game - just 10-15 minutes during each export. I play in two leagues and it's a whole lot of fun. The IHOF and WigFl are both good leagues, but I'm biased as I'm in both. ![]() |

Ok, so what I get out of it is basically the time it requires is the time I put into it...
I was worried that there was a lot of labor in the actually file transfer/update.. sounds like that is not an issue.. if the time is in game planning, scouting, etc. i'm fine with that.. I was worried that it takes an hour or two to update data depending on how "smooth" the process is... Looks like i'm going to be hunting for some money for FOF... |

I think the trick is to find something in life this does not apply to. I am in the IHOF too, and I spend nowhere near 3-4 hours a day, even during the offseason. I have no idea what these people are doing for so long. I guess this is why my team will always suck.

I know this applies to everything in life ... That's why I rephrased it to the "required" time ... |

That would be more effective if you actually had an IHOF team in Fairfax. I stole your logo though.

I am generally too busy to devote much time during the day but I find myself spending an hour or so at night just looking around the league. I love the off-season but I think I am better prepared to make due with whatever team I have during the season. So the ammount of time I spend with the game seems to have been more during the regular season vs. the off season.
But yes, the ammount of time you have to spend is probably 15 minutes per day/export. The rest of the time is just how much enjoyment you get from being in the league you are associated with. |

That's a great idea actually! I think I'm going to buy the game within the next week, play it single player, and then dive in and get my butt kicked.. i'm guessing IHOF won't have openings right away, so I'll find another one to join in the meantime... Ahhh.. I miss the Swamp Rats... I think I still have the files for them somewhere... |
