very close series...
With my win this weekend, I took first place in my division, but barely...
1. St Louis Saints 13 52 - 11 34 2. Lowgun Leeches 13 51 - 13 34 I am only winning by a 3 goal differential. And both of us play the bottom 2 teams in our division. Which means its basically a shoot out in the last game. Whowever can win by the most goals in their match wins. Luckily I have a slight advantage in goal differential and the fact that I play a bot. Any advice on how to win by as much as possible. I cant MOTS incase of a qualifier, but should I play my normal 3-5-2 with offensive wingers or maybe both wingers toward the middle with an AIM. I figure that way i get more shots on goal. Any advice?

Why can't you MOTS? Wouldn't 37 points auto you?

I think it's a safe bet that the autopromotion line will be partway through 37 points. That would put it down to goal differential, and I don't think 52-11 is good enough to make it, since offhand it's pretty close to my own (and I expect to play a qualifier) (a quick check at Hatstats confirms that my recollection is correct).
That said, I'd suggest worrying about making it to a qualifier first, then figure out how you're going to win it. |

But you know what? If you're playing a bot, I'm not sure how much a MOTs is really going to make a difference. With a 3 goal differential already, he's going to need to beat his guy by 3 goals more than you beat yours by...and let's assume that you win 4-1. That means he has to go 6-0 to tie you. What happened the last time you played a bot? Does your team score a lot?

well, it was an abandoned team when i played them at the beginng of the season. i won 8-0 though, but my team seems to have a lot of trouble scoring goals lately despite being a ton better than at the begining of the season.

Yeah, it's the same in v.19:
Code:
if i lose, i finish either 2nd or 3rd. Catahoula's/Direwolves Winner wins v.19, a draw puts Direwolves in 1st. if i draw, it gets interesting. If Catahoula's/Direwolves draw then I win on goal differential, otherwise the winner of C/D wins v.19 if I win, i pretty much win v.19 on Goal Differential unless Direwolves beats Catahoula's by 5 more goals than i beat the #7 team (-79 GD) by. The advantage of being in V.84 is, I don't have to worry about anybody in IV with the same series. And nothing interesting seems to happen with VI.84, although now I'm motivated to go check it out and see what it looks like.

I would definitely play wingers offensively. There is zero reason to gain more midfield. I would not play AIM. Play normal and you'll win going away. You'll score a lot, don't worry about it. The only argument I'd be having with myself is whether to PIC or not in preperation for the qualifier. Personally I would. |

I agree with you. If I dont PIC, im playing like you said. But if I want to PIC, I feel like my midfield is going to be hurting too bad from MOTS'ing last week, an away game, and the PIC. Thats why I was trying to find a way to win by a lot and PIC. I think I am going to see where my TS is on sunday morning. If its composed (which I doubt) Im going to PIC and play wingers offensively. If its irritated, Im going to play normal and wingers offensively and hope its composed by qualifier time.

I MotSed last week, perhaps leading to my win over the then first-place Direwolves.
I am PICing against the #7 team of the disastrous midfield and -79ish GD to get some TS back up for the qualifier which i'll probably lose unless that guy throws the match. |

I am going to end up with 37 points but my GD will hopefully bump me to auto-promotion. I am currently tied for the highest GD of teams with 34 points.

Yeah, I saw you listed on the hatstats promotion/demotion page I'm only 19 positions behind you. Hopefully the line will drop enough for both of us to slip through.

I am so close to the auto-promotion line. I need a win this week to secure it.
