TCY question - Players shedding weight
We all know that players will add pounds during the pre-season, but is it rare for a player (especially an offensive lineman, which is what happened to me) to drop a noticeable amount of weight before arriving on campus as a freshman. I had a Center drop from 264 pounds to 254 pounds in the preseason before his freshman year. If this is common, is it something to be concerned about, a sign that maybe this player isn't all he's cracked up to be.

I've never noticed that happening before, but then again I haven't specifically looked for it. I always assume my players come in at or heavier than their H.S. listed weight, and the few guys I've compared have been heavier. It will be interesting to track this guy. What are his current and potential ratings? |

I've never seen this. What gets me is the inconsistencies in weight gain by position. I can get a 225 LB DE out of HS, give him a 30 in the gym to bulk up for a couple years, and the guy will max out at like 242. Then I get a 210 LB QB, put him at 10-12 in the gym, and the guy winds up at 245 before he graduates. I see this all the time. WTF is up with that?

Interesting. Have you tracked the H.S. Athletic Prep ratings for these guys? I wonder if there's a correlation there, i.e. guys coming from higher Athletic Prep schools come in closer to their max weight (and also with a higher current rating), so there's less room for them to grow. I'm pretty sure each player has a preset max weight they can attain.
