...for four games. He and Jim Tracy were also evidently fined. I do think Bradley deserves the punishment, and I think he might've even gotten off a little light, considering the ball he chucked into left field could have easily hit and injured somebody.

But.

I'd be real curious to know if the umpire was disciplined for his behavior during the series. Several questionable calls, instigation in the 6th inning...

Again, I don't condone the way Bradley behaved, not in the slightest, but I think MLB's discipline office needs to look at the complete picture, and deal with everybody involved.

But that's just me. I could be wrong.

If anyone would have not noticed old uncle Milty having the meltdown, and chucking baseballs, and getting out of harms way, they deserve to be hit. Four games is a good punishment, considering his behavior. Reminds me a bit of a young Ron Artest.

Dawgfan, it's easy to say that, but a LOT of kids are at the game every night, and not all of them are of an age where they understand "dude going berserk = DUCK!"

That, and we get plenty of Brooklyn transplants who were probably in their early 20s when the Dodgers won their sole NY championship in '55.

In other words, the very young and very old frequently are there, and those are also the groups who frequently are the slowest, for whatever reason, to understand AND react to potential danger.

For most people, I'd agree with you - you go to a sporting event, you need to pay attention, but that doesn't mean that every attendee is perfectly capable of so doing, is all I'm saying (wasn't there a 5 year old girl killed at a hockey game, if I recall?).

Sack, I understand what you are saying. I guess my response would be that hopefully children that are there are there with their parents, and their parents would be paying attention to the giant ass on the field, throwing a temper tantrum. And along that thought, I hope that at least one kid that was at that game saw how foolish you look when you throw a temper tantrum. I would hope that parents are paying enough attention, and are close enough to a child to protect them.

As for the unfortunate incident in the NHL, the fan was closer than the distance from the dugout to the warning track, a puck was deflected off another stick, and it was an unfortunate freak accident. It is unfortunate that something like that could happen in sports, but the NHL, and almost every other level of hockey, has given a pound of prevention. It makes me wonder what would happen if, god forbid, there is a fatality at a Major League game.

As for the elderly at the game, I'm man enough to admit, I don't really have an answer for you there. I still think Bradley's suspension was fair, five games would have been too much, but four is okay by me. I know that this might villify me, but that is my honest opinion.

Hey man, as a Phillies fan i love Milt Thompson, it was the 2nd name i could come up with, the first was Steve Jeltz, but that made no sense.
