IWS 72

WS #72

A theme. I considered many, but could NOT arrive at one. I did arrive at what I thought were a few good questions, but NOT more than one or two for a single theme. I quickly determined that one of my questions had an obvious answer. In order for me to use it I would almost have to exclude it. This is how the Theme of NOT was originated. I spent a good bit of time last night coming up with questions that had what I considered to be distinct frontrunner answers to exclude. I awoke this morning, and can recall at least three recent IWS questions that have followed this format. I guess one's mind is clearer when NOT sitting up with a three week old baby. This was a bit of a disappointing realization, as it means my idea was NOT only NOT near as original as I once thought, but also there was a likelyhood that some of my questions had been used before. In the face of this demoralizing realization, I have decided to press on with the Theme of NOT.

Questions
1. Name a pizza topping, NOT pepperoni.

2. Name the greatest American General, NOT Washington.

3. A memorable line from a memorable speech, NOT "I have a dream". Please specify the Orator. Believe it or not, I might not recognize the source.

4. Name a mixed drink with Orange Juice in it, NOT a Screwdriver.

5. Name an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, NOT "The Terminator".

6. Name a brand of Scotch whisky. NOT a restriction on this one.

The Rules

The rules are the same as previous FOFC “I’m With Stupid" Contests, as set forth by the game’s founding fathers.

The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted, and to provide the most common answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for the contest will be the product of your individual question scores. Highest score wins.

No collaborating in any way. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by e-mail or in any other way with other potential contestants.

All determinations of "matches" and anything else requiring judgment fall to that of the sole administrator of this round of the game. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, and that sort of thing. My decisions are final and inarguable.

Any references that are unclear to you, due to language or geography, should be understood to be authored from the perspective of an English-speaking American. However...

Your answers do not necessarily have to be correct in order to score points. If I ask "name a color of the rainbow," and you and four other people responded "black" - you get five points, period, even if it is not technically a correct answer to the question.

PM your answers to me, by Noon Thursday, God's Time (Pacific). I will strive to get the results out that afternoon, but since I already have a lunch at Hooters planned for that day, you may have to wait until Friday for me to pass on the reigns.

P.S. A nice bonus to winning this thing, is you get to add your own name to the "Hall of Heroes". Pretty Cool.

Interesting question set... I think one of them was fairly easy, but the others were all tricky, for me at lesat.

With me having returned to my normal IWS level, I can tell you all that the last place entry has been submitted.

Hey entering the results into the spreadsheet is pretty cool. This part might be funner than coming up with answers.

Seeing as I've NEVER had a drink in my life, this was rough for me... although I could see runaways on atleast 2 or 3 of these questions..

You better make your entry count then, it's not easy to win an IWS event or end up 2nd or 3rd and talking the people finishing ahead of you out of hosting.

I'm going to ask that we stay away from anything where the answer is "Churchill", thanks.

Just updating the spreadsheet, and checking the leader board. Some of the more recent responses have gone in a dramatically different direction, every entry seems to change the landscape.

Sure thing. This buzzer doesn't go off until noon pacific, so twelve more hours for all the folks who have fed all the data into their computers to come back and submit their results.

Everything okay, Glengoyne or are you just incapable of giving the results as a result of having no access to the entries?

Well, since the general premise of IWS is that there are NO wrong answers, shouldn't everybody be sending in this answer sheet:

1. pepperoni.

2. Washington.

3. "I have a dream"

4. a Screwdriver.

5. "The Terminator".

6. a restriction on this one.

Hey fellas. I am sorry I haven't posted the results. I have been just amazingly sick for the past five days. Actually I just can't stand the idea of giving up my title. I will get a write up out today. Rest assured we have a new champion.
