Hattrick 6.6

6/6/2004 Coming soon: Hattrick 6.6
Next season Hattrick will be upgraded to version 6.6 in a "minor upgrade" from the previous version 6.5. This means that a number of changes will be released before the start of next season. The changes include a set of important changes relating to transfers which, among other things, will make short term trading less profitable. Further, HT 6.6 contains a bunch of minor adjustments to the match engine, a new formula to determine player salaries (effective from the upcoming season) and a few other minor changes. This message is not the release of HT 6.6, but a hint to let you know what's in the pipeline. More details will only be presented here in this column (so please don't ask HTs and GMs - we will not answer until the package is released).

It pretty much alwasy sounds decent, since they usually reveal very little in pre-announcements

I remember when they announced that experience would play a bigger role, then they turned it on and BOOM bunch of people were pissed, another bunch (me included in that group) were happily surprised that their old geezers wih experience were now useful in the team

Who knows how this will turn out. Messing with the transfer system? Salary decrease or increase? Defense getting bumped? C/A made usefull? None of things would sound minor to me if they are to happen. . .

I'm almost certain the salary system change will include a decrease in the multiplier for secondaries since they're trying to hit that hard. Also, as Havok pointed out when I was talking to him tonight, a strong decrease in the stamina multiplier is also in order.

I'm really hoping the short term trading strikes at the heart of daytraders. This really should be a contest of who can build the best team not who spend 15 hours a day online looking for bargains in Bulgaria just to stay in the upper divisions of Sverige. If they fix that, then I won't mind searching for bargains so much because there won't be an incentive for everyone and their dog to buy just to resell, rather just those of us looking for players. But that could really hurt the market so who knows...

I wish they would eliminate the reward of an extra game to keep form up and give more experience for finishing 5th and 6th while screwing 2nd thru 4th but I doubt that will happen

I agree with sterlingice. The answer is simple and I see no reason why it can't be adopted. Just allow teams without a qualifier/relegation match to play an extra friendly on that Sunday. What would be the problem with that?

A reduction in stamina effects would be really great, the idea that a players with less stamina are more attractive is ridiculous.

Really curious about what they'll do with the daytraders, I have faith in what they do is right but completely stopping daytraders will possibly remove most regulation on the market. The only problem I had with them is that you have to be gifted with a large market to do it.

About the pro/rel game I really can't think of an answer to it, right now those 2 weeks are the only time most teams even think about changing their training which is possibly pretty important for HT's when they're encouraging secondaries. I really like being forced to decide; 2 weeks stamina vs. form? try the useless passing training? SP? Most teams needs a stamina break per season so that means hardly any thought, or anything interesting happening over that time.
The main thing I see is that despite inflation the prizes aren't changing so prize vs. 50% of crowd +training isn't even a question of which is more profitable.
*note for idea, prize money based on series' attendance?

My guess is make you hold on to a player for 28 days before you can resell.

im guessing that they will add percentage pentalties for selling a player before they are on your team for so many days. like if they sell the guy in the same week they buy them, the previous team, agent, and home team percentages will be higher. or at least that is what im hoping for

That would be cool but at the same time would shorten the "offseason"

That would really suck for instances that either aren't daytrading at all, or aren't exactly daytrading. Example of the first: short-term injury replacement, essentially a rental to cover a hole. Example of the second: daytraining, which exploits a different kind of market inefficiency than daytrading.

I still wouldn't mind, the only cost for that type of activity is wages, which generally won't change the profit enough to matter. However, for a daytrader that limits them to 50 trades a month and adds the risk of market fluxuations and wages of 20 players waiting to be traded is a much greater factor. I'm starting to really like that idea.

My biggest fear of the change will be that the market balance will shift to fewer buyers and more sellers like what happens near the end of seasons.

I have a tough time seeing them making players be held for 28 days. I vaguely recall the mods specifically saying that they wouldn't stop people from daytrading, just making it more difficult or less profitable.

If they neuter daytraders, then I don't mind the different transfer markets so much. That way, there's still some reward for us bargain hunters. Then again, I'm still all for the regional transfer markets for regions that have countries under 500ish users because going through country after country with 50 users does get tedious after a while.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have qualifiers/relegation matches on that Weds instead of shortening the offseason by a week?

Not allowing teams in qualifers to have friendlies that week would probably take quite a bit of work to implement, but moving the day of the matches doesn't seem like it would take much effort at all.
