In other (vaguely related) game news, my submission for my 'Designing Games Components' class at uni (Games Technology MSc) is up at http://www.davidlearnsgames.com/dgc/cwork1.avi .

I'll never earn a living as a 3d Modeller / Animator.

Axis and Allies RTS...looks pretty, but I will definately not be buying. RTS mixed with "strategic" games just doesn't do it for me in the least.

Yossarian...that was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The plane exploding...or rather lack of explosion..was funny as hell.

Except, I kind of feel bad because I'm sure it wasn't meant to be funny.

But in all seriousness, I'm sure you weren't given a lot of time to do it, and I actually think it's pretty good. The modals obviously could use some work, but I thought the camera movement and angles were very good.

EDIT: The guy getting squashed made me laugh out loud.

It was a seriously tragic effort on my part.

I work full time (programming) and I'm doing the MSc one day a week. The rest of the class obviously had MUCH more time.

The explosion was supposed to have all kinds of particle effects when the rocket hit but i realised that I couldnt get the effects right so I went with a light + lens flare.

I can't believe this is created with the same software they used for Finding Nemo (Softimage XSI).

as an aside, my classmates work was on a whole, MUCH nicer than mine - but a bit lacking in humour!

you can see some of them at http://www.davidlearnsgames.com/stuff
the "bmoore" one is by far the best...
