The damn transfer market! I keep finding myself going to it now that I have a little money again...I keep thinking since my last game that I tied that maybe I should buy a solid scorer to help my central attack. But...then there's the tentative plan to train scoring after this next season, tentative because I haven't decided how high to train my keeper too. Then there's the need to upgrade the stadium. Then there's the desire to maybe stay out of debt until I see what my costs are going to be next season. Damn the transfer list!

Tellistto, sounds like we have the same plan as far as current and future training. I actually have a little money after a good transfer buy, train, and sell, so I plan on getting a solid player for my midfield (my position of greatest need). I figure if I get some help now for winning games next year, the investment will be worthwhile, especially as it sounds like costs will increase with the coming of the new season.

Let me know what you decide for GK training. My thought was either outstanding or brilliant, but I'll probably train until somewhere around midway through the season after next...so I may end up training until whatever pops close to that timeframe (probably outstanding).

My main trainee(one I pulled week 4 of this past season) is 18 and currently formidable+1 until this weeks training. He should be very near magnificent by the end of next season. I just haven't decided if I want to train him in his 20th year of life or not, if I do he might hit super natural. My other trainee is 17yo high solid, one week from excellent I hope now. Hoping to get him to brilliant next season to fund a possible scoring switch. Haven't really decided yet, but that's what is holding me back from buying anything else for my team, as midfield was my main issue really.

As far as the decision about changing things up goes... my current plan, as a keeper trainer, is thus:

Background: My primary trainee is 20, magnificent, and a YP of my own (Huang Kien). My secondary trainee is 18, outstanding, and purchased from Nederland (Jonathan Zuidema).

If I promote: I need an immediate cash infusion to be competitive, so I sell Kien for somewhere on the order of $5 MM and put most of the proceeds into new players -- maybe a couple for a total of around $4 MM, ~300k (max) for a new trainee, the rest held for interest/filler.

If I don't promote: I'm not sold on keeper training as a long-term program, given that studies seem to show it earns a lot less than other regimens. Although I have issues keeping up with the best team in my series, I resist the urge to make an immediate splash, hold both keepers until the end of the year. Then, keep Kien as my keeper going forward, sell Zuidema (at magnificent or better), and switch to winger or scoring training. (With the proceeds from the sale going to shore up whichever of those I don't train.)

The only drawback to the second plan is, my chances of winning the series next year won't be all that good, although if I can make sure I'm still in the hunt at the end of the season, I can do the changeover then and spring a vastly improved team on Flashotcite in the final game.

The main reason I did keeper is simply because it's easy and cheap to start up, and they are damn expensive to buy, which is also good in the short term. Since I'm in series VI, my recent sale of my formidable keeper for 1.2 got me out of debt and got me 2 solid PM's which should allow me to garner inadequate MF's consitently(hoping). This should allow me to walk all over my competition, especially since our demotee is a month old team, and the prior demotee has been inactive for a month now.

Right now I'm thinking of just training my main during his 20th year and get him to supernatural, and then I won't have to worry about it for many seasons. I'll have to sell my other trainee at end of next season to fund other area's of need, especially coach, provided my guy gets to solid exp(hoping for a decent cup run to aid in this). After that I'll have to start another trainee, and get him high enough level that he can fund my switch to scoring at the end of season 24. Never hurts to plan and all.

You can always buy my guy, has excellent stamina, solid scoring, and is 22. His form is poor right now but that's the only huge negative

He's in the transfer list at the top of the forum.

well it seems like a few of us are thinking alike.

i'm on my second round of keeper training. I sold my first guy for 8.something million dollars and built myself a squad that won my DIV series this year. I'll have another 2 guys up in that range at the end of next season. With those funds i'll be cranking up my midfield and starting an uber-scoring training program and get the hell out of DIV

of course i'll be keeping one of my awesome keepers to keep my massive defensive ratings. Probably switch from an offensive coach to a neutral coach when i start training forwards as well.

I'm not a keeper trainer, but my plan is to basically train scoring as long as I'm in DV.

If I'm in DV for more than two seasons, I'll basically have a cruise-ride into DIII, with a pair of uber-strikers, a great keeper, and a great middie.

Basically, my theory is you migh tas well train train train while in lower divisions; it's tougher to do when you move up.

Sorry Chubby, but I'm more interested in value for money, and with wretched passing he's not much of an upgrade to my current strikers.
