OT: Oops, slight mistake in Tampa paper
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playof...ory?id=1817985
"TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Tribune apologized to its readers and the Tampa Bay Lightning Tuesday after mistakenly running an editorial saying the hockey team had lost Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. Publisher Gil Thelen said it was unclear how the mistake was made Monday night as the newspaper rushed to press following the Lightning's 2-1 victory over the Calgary Flames in Game 7. The Tribune had prepared two editorials -- one for a win and one for a loss. But despite placing the correct editorial in its computerized page-making system, the one prepared for a loss appeared in the newspaper's 275,000 copies. Thelen and Tribune Editor Frank Denton said the newspaper was investigating the error to make sure it doesn't happen again." ---- Thankfully, 80% of Tampa's readership was unaware the city even had a hockey team, let alone that the team was in the finals. ![]() |

Looks like they'll have a couple of years to make sure that specific mistake isn't made again. Every time they showed the crowd outside of the St. Pete Dome last night, which made it look like the million man march, I kept thinking about CNN's coverage of the Iraq war, where the camera made it look like there were thousands of protestors, yet an aerial photo of the exact same scene showed a small group of protestors, with people otherwise going about their business, paying no attention to the protestors.

I'm so sick of you guys nitpicking every tiny mistake a reporter makes.
