We did, for a few minutes. The clouds were orc-shaped and rotating.

Yikes. Rotating orc-shaped clouds are never good.

P.S. - I'll soon be a St. Louis area-ish guy, as I'm moving to Springfield Illinois. So I'll soon get to join you in experiencing those wonderful midwestern orc-storms (again - used to live in the midwest).

We had a spectacular electrical storm last night up in the Seattle area - from about 10PM until at least midnight there was lightning every 30-60 seconds in the eastern sky. It's been very hot this week and a wall of wet clouds moved in last night. The warm weather won out though - it's pushing 90 degrees with low humidity at the moment.

Considering how rare a good thunderstorm is in this part of the country, it was quite a show.

Glad I'm not going home today.

Actually, I wish I was.

Fonzie,

you've missed some lovely huge storms recently through this area...

lots of tornado warnings.

I'm flying into St Louis Sunday for a conference. We are even going to the Cubs-Cards game Wed. Got to be better weather than here in North Carolina. I am originally from South Florida, but it was hotter today than anything I experienced down there. 95 with like 90% humidity, just sucked ass.

Mrs. Fonzie and I were house shopping in Springfield last month when a nasty front moved through. We were staying at a hotel in the downtown area, apparently across the street from the storm siren, and got to experience its full glory at 1:30am one morning.

That was the definition of a rude awakening.

Turns out that a tornado/super duper high winds skirted the area (it hit near Jacksonville, I think?), and thankfully nobody was hurt. I had been looking forward to trading the 115 degree summer days of Tucson for the stormier (and more humid) midwest, but after that night in Springfield I was a bit less certain about the deal.
