FOF 2004 Very cool holdout feature...or coincidence?
So my starting RB decided to holdout before training camp. The guy was very good, high ratings everywhere, but he wanted RIDICULOUS $$. So I decided to check the FA pool and lo and behold there was a decent back who I could afford. Wasn't as good as my back, but he seemed to be an OK replacement. I ran training camp with the intent on trading the holdout afterwards. When I finished training camp, though, I had an email saying that loyalty was more important than money and the back would report immediately. I wonder if it was because I signed the replacement or if it would have happened either way. Anyone else seen this?

I have not had that experience, but seems like I recall reading others talking about that. A specific example that comes to mind involved a WR, where a replacement was signed and then the holdout reported immediately.

That happened with my star QB. He held out before training camp, but then I received another email from him saying that loyalty was more important. He was in the final year of his contract. I didn't sign another QB before training camp though, and just went into training camp with 2 QBs. Interestingly enough, his "intangibles" were:
Loyalty: Very Low (11) Wants Winner: Fair (30) Leadership: High (67) Intelligence: High (67) Personality: Fair Strength (35) Popularity: Idolized (100) We did win the Superbowl the previous year, and he was in the final season of his 6 year rookie contract. We were poised to win it again, so that might have had something to do with coming back. I'd be interested to know what your RB's "intangibles" were. |

I've had this happen several times with Chad Lewis (in various FOF2004 Careers) who seems to like to hold out. He has reported back each time with the same message as the one above. It is a cool feature.
