week 1 buys

I'm curious to see what people bought. I'll list mine after I'm done tonight.

Cost me a quite obscene amount of money - $858,000 - but he's the best trainee I've ever had.

Am I the only one who wonders how lytic always seems to have so much money? Is it due to his recent HT promotion or something? :P

Bought him for $650,000. I would have spent more on a trainee this year, but I need to keep a reserve if I'm going to be making a run at the division this season. I figured $650,000 was a good price because a bid on a similar guy (passable/passable/passable) that had a TSI of 500 and went for $800,000. Saving $150,000 and getting a better TSI (with worse stamina) seemed like a good deal to me.

Edit: I also got him in time to play this week and get week 1 training.

No trainees for me this season. I am still going to work on building up my 18 year old solid playmakers. I'm hoping to sell them off toward the end of the year for good recruits next year!

How depressing:

After 38 minutes SouthParks Hennie Vervaeke had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony.

RE: NAIWF... I saved all season. I even sold Preston Davis a guy I bought for $105k and sold for something like $7mil.

1 more:

Thomas Reyes (35493771)
17 years, passable form
A pleasant guy who is temperamental and dishonest.
Has disastrous experience and weak leadership abilities.

Nationality: USA
Total Skill Index (TSI): 1 110 (111 000 US$)

Playmaking: weak Passing: weak
Winger: weak Defending: solid
Scoring: passable Set Pieces: poor

I'd like to get 1 more USA trainee, then I'll consider buying a new forward or something. Anything but midfield.

There's no way you could convince me to spend that kind of cash on a trainee. I can spend less than half that and get the same players midseason and in the end, I'd only lose one level of training and there's a lot less risk (i.e. I'd feel a lot better about my $600K player going down than my $2M player) and when you train these guys to upper levels, you don't even earn $1M per level in sales price so why do it since you lose money and add risk?

I don't buy them either, but instead, I buy them "pretrained", as in 17 yo formidables. at the end of the season or 18 at the beginning. That way, I save a seasons worth of training and pay about the same. In turn. I can sale them a season earlier than I could if I just bought a solid.

I got this guy for 800k. I was going for a U20 player from the Ukraine, but he went for around 2.6 mil, too steep for me. After that, I setltled on this American, and while he is a low solid, I like powerful players and i I think he'll be a good trainee. I am going after one more guy but if I don't get him I am going to save up and hopefully have a good season in V.

Why? Honestly, I'm not getting out of IV until defense is fixed enough. I don't think 6.6.2 is gonna fix it either. So I have fun with training U20 players. Sure it's not the more benificial moneywise. I got a week 1 high passable in Preston Davis and made out like a bandit on him. Due to injuries he ended up being better than a guy on the U20 squad, but it was too late by that point. The TS hit wouldn't have been worth the change since he would have been like 5th-6th string.
Maybe in 4 season I'll make my move to III when these guys are all mega stars. I have the best Belgie defender and I have the best USA Wing Back... and I have a guy named Dick Lentz!
So sure it wasn't the best thing for the team. Neither will getting an excellent coach with the sell of Per Fredrickson halfway through the season. To me, it's the game within the game.

That's pretty much what I do. It costs a little more in the beginning, but you can turn things over faster, and it allows better ratings than you'd get playing a 17 yo solid while trying to train him up.

I have been training scoring a long time and am quite familiar with the economy of it. part of what you say is true, and i still follow the same philosophy with my other trainees. but I didnt buy these two players for profit purposes. I will train scoring for about 3-4 more seasons and then switch. these guys are my "Franchise players" as they say in the NFL. at around 20-21 when they are titanic or beyond, i will switch my training but these guys will remain as fixtures in the superstar squad. The pride of the ghetto :P

and to vexroid who said "17 yo formidables. at the end of the season or 18 at the beginning", the guys i bought will hit formidable around week 7-11, by the end of the season (or beginning of next) they will hit outstanding if they remain healthy.

for 357 000 US$ crappy stamina but most of my wingers and others still need it too. Still think it's a pretty good bargain.

This guy for 255 000 US$ I put bids on the cheap guys hoping for a crash before I went somewhere, forgetting I bookmarked a few non-solids... Oh well wanted a Mexican trainiee sometime anyway, plus it won't feel like I have to keep in a full training position next season.
