Question Cool/Geeky Decor in Your Room

A Balrog-related comment in another thread prompted this, and rather than thread-jack that puppy even more, I figured I'd branch off thisaway.

This question assumes that you have scratched out some personal space - be it a computer room (like mine), a den, a garage, a niche, a nook, a basement, whatever - which you call your own and (more importantly) which you have free reign to decorate with whatever you wish.

The question is:

What do you consider to be a cool thing you've got displayed, that some might think is geeky or otherwise embarassing?

I'll start.

Several years ago I created and ran a fantasy RPG empire-building game. I got so deep into it that for the hell of it I had a heraldic banner made for my kingdom. It's displayed on the wall. :o

Honorable mention: WSU mini-helmet; Rohan mini-helmet (LOTR)

Alright, step right up, tough guys. Who's got the guts to go next?!?

I have two TVs in my living room. I can play video games or watch sports while my gf can use the other TV for her shows.

It also works great on Saturdays and Sundays when you can watch to games at the same time.

I have a life-size Homer Simpson in my basement. (And yes, I always like to point out the "how can it be life-size if he's not alive" thing.) It's next to my rocking chair covered by a Simpsons throw rug and my shelves upon shelves of Simpsons figures and rooms. It's also under my Iowa Hawkeyes clock and near my framed, autographed Magglio Ordonez picture, but I don't know that these qualify.

On my desk at work I have 2 starting lineup hockey figures, a bobble head Bruce Lee doll and a dia de los muertos skeleton that is smoking and drinking.

I get a lot of comments on the skeleton when clients come in.

Paul Silas and Jamal Mashburn bobbleheads -- even though I hate Mashburn and I'm afraid that thing is going to come to life in the middle of the night and strangle me.

Also, a piece of the old Deep 13 set from Mystery Science Theater 3000.

My CD collection takes up 2 partial walls in our bedroom and is organized alphabetically by artist, and within each artist, each official release is in order of release date, earliest to latest. Then, immediately following each artist, I have any bootlegs that I have for that artist, organized by date of performance, earliest to latest.

A Chik-Fil-A cow plus doll wearing a sign that says "GO HEELZ" and has the UNC logo on it sits on top of my monitor at work(except for during September and October when a Cubs hat will replace it).

That's not really very geeky though...

So when you get a new CD you have to move everything over one!

Yes, I do. I actually do "the move" once every two weeks, letting my purchases and burns accumulate so I don't have to keep moving everything every single time. It's not that big of a deal, really.

I too have this cut-out (it is something like 5 1/2 feet tall) that I received from the brother-in-law for christmas. Also, like you, it is now in the basement.

On our way home christmas eve-night after opening the gift at the in-laws, I was given a look of utter disdain as I informed the wife that Homer would be joining me in my office. Seeing her intense dislike of this cardboard construct, I delighted in its assembly and would place it all over the house for the next few days, giggling like a school girl at each growl it produced. Finally it wound up in my office.

He kind of has a creepy look on his face (a frown of sorts) and it wasn't long before it wound up in the basement at the hands the little lady on the grounds that it was ugly. I can't blame her, but I've made no attempts at a rescue.

This is so true. I used to have a bunch of posters up on my walls, now I have nothing. I keep threatening my wife that when we get a house big enough for me to have a computer/music room that will be all mine, those walls will be off-limits.

Where'd I put that old Carling Bassett poster from my youth...

I used to sort my CDs like Ksyrup as well...but I've been lazy recently.

I don't really have anything geeky in my room...well, I don't have room and all of my walls have bookshelves. Yes, I live inside a mini-library. Books, DVDs, CDs, stacks of old gaming magazines, stacks of old Asimov's Science Fiction and Analog, many old computer parts, PS2, XBox and PC games, and now recently, old and new wargames and sports games (boardgames). So obviously, I don't have any room to have something geeky in my room.
