Transfer valuation question
High brilliant scorer, nearly magnificent, what would be a good price?

I'm possibly buying, the passing is wretched.

He's drawn some interest, the price is now over $3 MM.
Considering how much better he would be than my current forwards, I couldn't pull the trigger at that price because it would eat up most of my bankroll. ![]() Last edited by Mr. Wednesday : 06-25-2004 at 10:38 AM. Reason: Note failure to purchase |

I would have gone up to 3.042.000 $US on the player if the stars are better than the normal brilliant+0 strikers without passing. It's not worth it to hope he is telling the truth. If the stars had matched up with a normal magnificient without passing, I'd consider going 100k more max.

4.5* was what Larue normally pulled. The guy is active at USCHO, I had no reason to think he wasn't telling the truth about it, but ultimately I didn't want to spend that much of my money on just one player.

Subliminal message- You *want* to buy my forward. You *want* to buy my forward.
Nothing here to add. ![]() |

I would not have bought him. Unless the form was bad, those are awfull stars. I've seen Outstandings hit 4.5* sometimes, albiet very rarely. Both of my outstandings are a 4 star average... So not really worth the extra cash imo.

Nick - If he's up Sunday afternoon/evening through Tuesday evening, I'm not getting involved, I'm going to be out of town on business and I'm not expecting to have HT access.

Be careful about that, you don't want to get the dreaded "five logins left" because you spent it on the wrong side of the economic update.

When you go under ($500k) in the economic update, you're given five logins to get back above that number before your team is locked for bankruptcy (and, if you don't convince someone to unlock it, in seven weeks it will either have the lineup reset if it's in IV or higher, or it will be eligible for replacement in V and VI). The hazard for established players is this: The transfer system will let you take credit for incoming transfer cash before you actually receive it for a player sale. If you make such a purchase on credit prior to the economic update, but only receive the cash from the sale after the update, at the time the update occurs your economy will be showing a massive deficit. This triggers the bankruptcy counter, and until the next econ update (when you will have miraculously come out of debt), you're restricted to five logins. There've been a couple of people on here who fell victim to that. bronconick was one, I believe, and so was vexroid. |
