Just witnessed the worst possible poker play ever

Was in a simple, one table tournament at Party Poker and witnessed the following play. Big chip leader is head to head with other player (liltallgirl or something like that), everyone else has folded. All five cards are on the board (an assortment of cards, I will explain in a minute) and liltallgirl bets $200. Big chip leader calls with a 2-3! The 2-3 didn't add anything to the hand, I think the board had three tens a 4 and a 5. Had she raised it might be considered buying the pot, but she just called with a 0% chance of beating the other player. She has no chance except for her opponent to also hold 2-3 (and to be betting that shit the whole hand) in which case she will tie. She explained that she had a straight draw, but this was after the fucking river card was dealt! I just don't understand how someone's play can be that bad.

You're right. I avoid the chat function 99% of time, because it really annoys me. But I asked her politely what she was thinking and she gets pissed and starts questioning everyone else's moves the rest of the game. I wouldn't have even been critical if she had held a 8 or 9 or something, but there wasn't ONE hand she could beat.

it is actually quite simple. The 2 people are playing together as a team, the big chip leader called knowing they would lose so they could give a boost to their partner and keep them around, then they split any winnings after the tourney is over.
