Two questions (Text-based sports sims related)
I have two questions for the Text-based sports sims fans that we are :
1/ Is there a Golf sim out there that could be worth it ? If not, what is the one Golf game to buy (Easports' Tiger Woods ?) 2/ Aside from Football (FOF being the best) and Soccer (CM being the best), what is the other best text-based sport sim ? (regardless of the sport).

I'd suggest checking out the following (listed in no particular order and in no way indicating my personal preference):
NHL EHM (slight bias here )Any .400softwarestudio's game Jump Shot Basketball Fast Break Basketball ITP/OOTP (again slight bias here )International Cricket Captain (don't think they're still making them but they were very cool if you're into cricket imho) PureSim (baseball) Sick as a parrot (football) .... to be honest there are loads of great sims out there, I'd suggest just looking around and giving a few a go, there was a sticky thread on here a while back which listed most sims - if you locate that give a few a try. I don't know of a Gold sim I'm afraid. |

I don't know of any golf text sims, but Tiger Woods is a pretty good golf game and probably my favorite.
Other than FOF and CM, my next favorite sports sim is Fast Break College Basketball. OOTP is also a very solid game if you are a big baseball fan. Last edited by Bee : 06-30-2004 at 09:37 AM. |

For golf, the closest thing to a text-sim I can think of would be
http://www.apbagames.com/stadium/games/software/golf/ More of a computer-aided version of the tabletop game AFAIK, but it's the nearest thing that comes to mind. For other sports/genres, I highly advise scrolling through the list of text-sports game links that's in a thread around here someone. There's quite a bit of stuff there, enough links to keep you busy for a while. And if you absolutely forced me to recommend at least one sim to try (beyond FOF & CM), I'd probably say Fast Break College Basketball right now. |

Tiger Woods on the consoles is much too easy if you're looking at the 2004 incarnation. It looks like they are making some changes to the 2005 version that will allow players to alter the courses in order to make them more difficult. However, with 2004 it was much too easy to win a tournament by 30-40 strokes, even without a maxed out golfer.
