Couple of Puresim Questions...
I was thinking of downloading the trial this weekend and giving it a go. Is it in good shape now with the quick patches Shaun released? Also, is there a real names roster file available from anyone? And spare me the crap about how fictional is more fun...
Finally, if there is a real names file, will it work with the demo? I'm assuming it would since the demo is fully functional but just thought I'd check for sure. Thanks in advance for the info. Last edited by Cuckoo : 07-02-2004 at 12:57 PM. |

Bumpety-bump. Come on, someone's gotta have this info. I can't be on that many ignore lists.

I think you have to use the Lahman database.

You can use the Lahman data base - and I'm certain that it works fine with the demo.

The game, with the exception of one beta patch, was never broken and was always 99% bug free.
The Lahman DB is how to do real players and the demo is a 100% functional game so it does indeed work with the demo. |

Fictional is more fun.

There isn't a 2004 roster set that I know of. There was a nice 2003 set last year, but I don't even know where to find that now... The game is much better with fictional players - for whatever that is worth to you. |

Thanks for the replies guys. I may hold off for a bit to see if some people with much more time on their hands than I make a 2004 roster file. I'll inevitably give it a try though.
Barkeep, I never meant to suggest that it was in bad shape. I just saw that he released some quick fixes, which impressed me, and I was curious if there were any major bugs left, if there were even any to begin with. Oh, and Karim... ![]() |

Like the FPS series, Shaun has an excellent trading module. I love picking a player, hitting "shop" and having GM's from EVERY team telling me who they would trade for that player. You can even sort by rating. I've often wondered if any text sim would ever do that again. I think Shaun has some FPS blood still left in him.

I think the baseball sim market is really picking up. Last weekend, I checked out both OOTP version 6.03 and the latest Puresim by Shaun. I was very impressed with both games and think they have really taken the baseball genre a long way.
I would highly suggest all sports sim fans check out both games and think both Markus and Shaun deserve kudos for their efforts in both of these versions. |
