Are there ANY good leagues out there?

I'm looking to join my first league (in many other types of leagues, but no FOF leagues)... And every league that has an opening isn't very active and generally sucks. Are there any good leagues out there with an opening?

Feel free to become a "vulture" here:

International House Of Football

Don't be turned off by the negative "vulture" name--it's actually a positive name the league gives to fans who follow the league. The ownership group is largely composed of FOFC regulars (don't call us "elite", though, because that will piss off people here at FOFC ). We also have the best darnd commish ever in VPI97. This is a great league and we're just getting rolling (we're nearing midseason of Season 2).

Feel free and stop by, although if hanging out and waiting for a spot isn't your thing, it might not be for you. I believe the waiting list (including already established vultures) is quite extensive.

A historical league is just now forming if you are interested in that sort of thing. We plan on starting in 1970 with real players. Feel free to stop by and take a look.

I can attest that being a vulture over at IHOF is LOADS of fun...

Otherwise, the CFL is also a great league and has openings...

I don't know if it has any openings, but the WigFl (www.wigfl.com) is a good league. I'm in both the IHOF and the WigFl. Both are good for different reasons - the IHOF is more active, but the WigFl is simmed more quickly and so it feels more like a "career" than a slow grind.

It's only a "slow grind" if your team sucks and your team is out of playoff contention with no hoeps of the playoffs by week 4. otherwise the slow pace allows for a very immersive environment. we have a handful of great columnists who follow the league, writing great articles. even though FOF doesn't have the media features of CM, the columnists more than make up for that.

I think that it's a testament to IHOF's greatness that it can be so freaking fun in spite of Chubby and HA...

VPI and the rest of the guys do a great job there.

No it doesn't.
It means you have an opportunity to beat HA.

They are cheeper than the Go Thad flags, yet more expensive than the Fumblin Justin caps.

Sent you a PM.

The Imperial Football League is young, but I am working my ass off and doing all I can to make it a good league. We may not be active enough for you yet but I would hope you would give us a shot, I plan on keeping this league around for a long time and things will pick up once we get into the league more and get more owners....

Very true, HA. I was trying to point out the difference between the IHOF, which feels much like running the day-to-day of an NFL team and the WigFl, which feels more franchise-oriented because of the faster speed of the simulations. I enjoy both but I favor the WigFl until I can get the roster of my Boulder team to something bordering respectability.

Check out the USFL at http://home.comcast.net/~ashmunes/

We have some very active owners with one opening right now. We are starting the draft tonight. The open team could be a contender this season, but you will have a challenge after the season financially.

Keep in mind a hat comes free with membership to the Fumblin' Justin Fan Club...

It is a lonely club it would seem..

It's a good fan club, really.
The support for Fumblin' Justin is well deserved. Sadly, he and his receivers are/were far from the 2004 passing form and now The Lyon is on pace to break McDavid's rookie passing touchdowns record by one, but needs to increase his yards per game average to 224 to break the yardage record.

But that is enough IHOF talk for today, or else the C-team will come in and start discussion Brant P-man.
