Marshall Faulk to Retire?

Shortly after our e-mail update came out on Thursday afternoon, KTRS 550 AM out of St. Louis reported that Rams RB Marshall Faulk might hang up his cleats for good in the coming weeks. According to the radio station, two credible sources inside the Rams locker room revealed that Faulk's knee is acting up and that he might opt to retire during training camp if it continues to bother him. We reported on Thursday that Faulk believes his agent, Rocky Arceneaux, will structure Stephen Jackson’s rookie contract in a manner that will allow the Rams to slowly phase him out. Faulk could retire, spend the rest of the year rehabbing his wobbly knee(s) and un-retire in 2005. We'll monitor this situation closely. Developing...

probably doesn't feel like going to training camp. That knee will feel loose as creamed corn come August 25th ish.

He is one athlete that can miss training camp and get away with it, IF he's reasonably healthy. The knee news does not bode well, however.

And that creamed corn comment is nauseating this early in the morning. GAG

Rams | Faulk's Knee Still Causing Concerns? - from www.KFFL.com
Fri, 9 Jul 2004 11:28:45 -0700

HadleyOnSports.com reports sources out of St. Louis are indicating St. Louis Rams RB Marshall Faulk (knee) may remain a question mark entering training camp. According to one source, there are reasons to believe Faulk may not be able to play in 2004 and Faulk has indicated to some acquaintances that he's still concerned over whether or not his knee will be 100 percent when training camp begins. The general consensus appears to be that Faulk will play this year, but he may be used in a less-than-advertised role.
