OT - Ex-NFL'ers in radio news

I ran across a couple of things this week that I thought might be of mild interest around here.

-- Former Washington Redskins player Charles Mann joins flagship WJFK-FM/Washington to host the team's post-game show, beginning with the 2004-05 season.

-- CBS sports analyst Randy Cross joins News/Talk WGST-AM and Talk WMAX-FM/Atlanta to host a nightly Sports/Talk call-in show from 7-10pm. (07-07-04)

And one more, from a couple of months ago, that you might have missed
-- The Seattle Seahawks promote color analyst Steve Raible to play-by-play and hire former NFL/CFL quarterback Warren Moon as the team's color analyst. Both will be heard on KIRO-AM/Seattle. (04-15-04)

Cool. I'll have to tune into the Max at night sometime.

Judging from their early ratings numbers (which are actually trending downward since they started the station), that would make you part of a rather exclusive club

Doesn't surprise me. Their lineup stinks. I was pretty excited about it when I first heard there was going to be a talk-radio station on FM, and I used to be a big Ferrell fan. But, taking sports out of Scotty's schitk really makes him just annoying. There is just not much else there. I think there night-time numbers will probably improve with a sports-talk show, especially if it concentrates on football (which if they talked 24/7 about football it would not get old).

Warren Moon is one of my favorite players ever. I hope he does well.

I love Ferrell. Some of the soundbytes we had of him here when in was in New York were amazing. He'd regularly sit in on some of the non-sports talk shows at my station.

Everytime he gets fired he manages to land a new gig.
