HT Cup - How YOU Doin'??
curious how many FOFC'ers are still in the Cup, with all these Cupset horror stories i keep readin about...i was Pressed for the first time ever, so that got me a little concerned since the team was in d6, averaging a high passable defense (new) all across the board, but i i pulled it out 4-2...now i'm on to my first home game, i expect to win but we'll see...any good matchups to keep an eye on?

I got bumped this week as I was in the midst of doing some tinkering with my squad...but on a positive note my team got a bit younger this week.

I faced a bot in the first two rounds and a team who is just as good as a bot in the 3rd, so I haven't been challenged yet.
I do face a team that's actually active next round, finally. I should win though, barring a cupset. Could happen since I'm PICing after a MOTS in league play... |

I haven't been challenged yet, 9-0, 8-0, 5-1. But any run I dreamed about will end this round at the hands of Hawkeyes even though I'll be at home with POE TS. I'll be PICing and pressing just for the hell of it.

Next in the cup I get to play Mr. Ghetto Superstar himself, Cheetum.
In other words, I will be out of the cup next wednesday. ![]() Last edited by mrkilla22 : 07-09-2004 at 07:35 PM. |

Well, I'm still playing, after playing 2 bots and basically a bot in round 3 like YoSoySean. This round I play Sui Ciao. The fact that I might very well lose to a Division V team, even if I played my "A" squad, is quite bothersome for my Div. III team.
They put up these ratings last Cup round. Either they PICed up to this, or they MOTSed this. Sui Ciao Player rating and Team formation

I looked at Sui Ciao, pretty sure he just normaled that cup game with pretty good TS.
Last season I put up a WC (old) with 7 TS and very similar *'s on my IMs while normal. Matchid is 17284828 if you're interested. |

I got bounced in round 2. I'm not ticked off really that I lost as I was expecting it to go either way. Buuuut, I am ticked off that I had 60% possession both halves, and 2 good attacks, and failed to score a single goal while losing 4-0. It should've been a close game with my team having a slight advantage. Psh. Ah well, hopefully I'll do better next year.

Yeah, that's kinda what I think as well. At first, I was pretty pumped because I thought he had wasted a MOTS, but now I'm just not sure whether to PIC to and lose or go Normal and lose. |

I face ND Kickers, whose hatstats look like this:
That's about a 146 average on the new NSI. He's an IV demotee while I'm a new promotion to V, so I have the home field, which may give me a slight edge. I've averaged 148ish over the 4 games I played starters, all on PICs (including last week's cup's 153). The biggest hinderance I may have is team confidence, which was pretty craptastic last week and may get hurt again if I lose (when I lose) this weekend's league match. I wouldn't be surprised if I make my exit in round 4. I'd like to move on, but staying in IV is my other priority which I have to give consideration to.. ~tk

Just like tk I'm hosting a team just demoted to V, gets similar ratings to me and has very good defenders and decent everything else.
Should be tight; my top notch keeper vs. his quality defense, should have small advantages elsewhere hopefully winning it for me. |

I won this week with a golden goal in extra time. I guess that means that I have to stop PICing my cup matches.
![]() Next week I have the Flailing Fanatics. I have a better team, but my situation may force me into a PIC against him on the road. I play against the Avengers in league play the following week, who should pretty much chew me up. But I can't go down without a fight. My team isn't that much better than Fanatics that I can win with a PIC. He's got a good team. |

I just may be the biggest idiot playing hattrick. The midfielder that is supposed to be my extra midfielder was played normal in a defensive position. The good thing is that he managed to put up 2 stars there. The bad news is that with me PICing and pressing, I only managed a inadequate MF and lost 1-3 at home.
Go me go!!!

I'm still in and with a definite shot at winning since I play a bot in league play.
I barely got here though as I PICed and won 1-0. My opponent had 60% possesion both halfs and slightly out-NSIed me 83/81. I play: Wildly Provokable Elephant Shrews Player rating and Team formation

I'm out. Beat the guy on midfield and handily beat him in NSI.
Oh well. You can see the match info at the extended dynasty at the bottom of the page for season 6. ~tk

Im out. Lost 5-6 on a goal in the 108th minute. A horrible defensive showing along with wretched form from one of my forward trainees did me in. At least I used a PIC.
44450 spectators arrived at Toledo Drunkards Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Drunkards tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Luther - Matson, Peel, Guy - Carlmar, Dominguez-Tagle , Andersen, Makaay - Heiramo, Niederrad, Eykenboom. Maples started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Rosianu - Hilhorst, Sözer, Andersson - Ruardi, Mcintosh, Lekkerkerker, Alija, Elmendorp - Rãdulescu, Ståhlskär. Drunkards clearly preferred attacks in the middle. The bicycle kick from Eusenio Elmendorp would have been the Goal of the Year, had it not hit the posts. Maples took the lead in the games 7:th minute with 0 - 1 after some elegant plays down the middle. Eusenio Elmendorp was the scorer. The visitors Santiago Alija took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and central backs in the 18:th minute. 0 - 2 for Maples. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Maples´s Santiago Alija got himself booked. In the 33rd minute Timon Eykenboom passed through the guests central line of defense, scoring the 1 - 2 goal. After 35 minutes Arild Andersen made a complete fool of himself and dropped the ball to Nelus Rãdulescu who shuffled it into goal. 1-3 for Maples. In the 42nd minute Willie Guy passed through the guests central line of defense, scoring the 2 - 3 goal. Timon Eykenboom pulled a real crowd pleaser as he, in the 43rd minute, wove through the guests whole central defense line and put the 3 - 3 equaliser away. 3 - 3 was the half-time score. Drunkards held the ball, with a clear 55 percent possession rate. After a fine move down the middle Ignacio Dominguez-Tagle Pare nearly gave the home side one up in the 58:th minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. Maples took the lead in the games 70:th minute with 3 - 4 after some elegant plays down the middle. Fredrik Ståhlskär was the scorer. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area, but at last Maples´s Derryck Hilhorst was able to shove the ball in. 3-5. The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when Timon Eykenboom, after a brilliant midfield combination, put the reducing 4 - 5 goal away for Drunkards. By then Timon Eykenboom was a three time scorer - a hat trick! After a fatal mistake from the away teams right side defense in the 77:th minute, an alert Timon Eykenboom bagged the ball, evening the score to 5 - 5. Drunkards made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in from the right hand side left Timon Eykenboom completely alone with keeper Petrisor Rosianu, who made a spectacular block. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Drunkards, with an impressive 58 percent possession of the ball. After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of overtime followed. A mistake by the home sides central defence in the 108:th minute allowed Nigel Ruardi to score 5 - 6 for Maples. Extra time over, Maples were the victors! The most dominating Drunkards player was without a doubt Sami Heiramo. Nick Niederrad on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Maples player was Petrisor Rosianu. Teddy Mcintosh on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 5 - 6. |

I won a blowout against a team that demoted from IV to V this season.. and this week I pulled a promotee from IV to III who is also currently in 1st place in III. Waterloo FC, he also made round 11 of the cup last season. . . if he plays his b-team I can easily beat him, if he plays anything close to his a-team it's lights out in Gryndalville.
Vex plays him in the league match after my cup game with him.. so maybe even if I lose Vex will beat him up for me ![]() |

OUCH, tuckerrocky, the only saving grace you may have playing against Browns (he's in my series) is that he usually plays his reserves in cup (at least he has so far) so they put up only 140ish NSI compared with the 200+ he puts up in league play.
Good luck!! ~tk

The Screamin' Seamen are rolling along, and have yet to be scored against in Cup play (combined score 23-0). But this week should be interesting. We face ShockerZ, who were in the The Series Of The Beast [tm] last season and were demoted by virtue of an upset in their relegation match.
We split with ShockerZ last season, though the 2-1 loss we suffered was with our reserves on the field. Advancing to Round 6 and what should be a home match should be achievable.

As expected, the Browns took the Kickers to the woodshed for a beating, 6-0 loss.
With last league match very winnable with my b-team, which the did, my a-team played today regardless of what line-up Browns was going the play. I treated this match as more of an economy match, I did sell out, so that is 1 good thing that happened today. Kickers now concentrate on league play, and international friendlies. |

I won 4-5 on penalty kicks. They scored in the 86th minute to tie it up, and I won when my 5th kicker scored.
I still don't get a home match though and am on the road against the team leading division IV.64. |

I won 3-1 over Fonzie and his Gasmasters. It was 1-1 until the 76th minute and there was no telling who would win but in the end, I pulled it out.
Next up, I could use a scouting report from GoldenEagle because I'm playing a team from his series named Gnomish Phalanx as the 'drome hosts its first home Cup game in 4 seasons. ![]() SI

2-3 win over the Flailing Fanatics in OT. Second straight week for me with a golden goal winner. I knew it was going to be a tough match because he had a walkover on Sunday and played his reserves. I faced his A-team on the road. Close call.
Next up: Terps at home. I've been averaging +20 over this guy thus far this year, plus I have him at home. Depending on how I approach my Sunday match, I should be able to beat this guy. |

Got robbed and as if it wasn't bad enough that I lost but it went into PKs and instead of the end result being 2-3 it was 2-7, so that really pissed off my supporters and dropped my confidence even more.
This week I lost a grand total of 30 supporters! Go me! |

I was handed my defeat by a SP trainer in III. . .my own SP guy (Utopian w. formidable exp) missed two SP events. Nice.
I had possession @55% both halves. He had marginally better attack on one wing, though my defense was better by and large. His defense was better than my attack. He CA'd, and scored one soul goal on a normal attack. I received ZERO scoring chances other than the two muffed SP events. I didn't get robbed, but I should've won, I think. |
