FOFC Cup VII Offical Rules

We are going with the same format as last year. We will be having groups of 6 and we will play 5 matches to determine who advances into the next phase. The top 16 teams will advance to the elimination stages. Seeds 17-32 will advance to the consolation elimination stage.

Cup play will start on week 8 and end on week 16. Signups will most likely close around week 6. We will use your ranking for week 7 to determine the seeding for the cup.

The winners of each group will be guaranteed a better spot in the playoffs. Depending on how many people signup, we could have extra spots open for the teams. The rest of the teams advancing to elimination will be determined by the following.

1. Total number of points
2. Head-to-head
3. Goal differential
4. Total goals scored
5. Original Seed

Let me clarify how head-to-head will work. It will determine which team in a group would finish 1,2,3,4,5. It will also determine seeding, but only when applicable. The teams will need to be ranked next to each other in order for this to apply. This shouldnt be an issue, except for those few teams tied for the last spot in the playoffs, and to determine which team wins their group and gets a coveted top seed.

The teams that wintheir group will be guaranteed a seed no lower than the number of groups in group play. If we have 8 groups and you win your group, you will not be seeded lower than 8th. If you do not win your group but do well enough to advance, you can be seeded no higher than 9th.

You must accept your challenge no later than 12:01AM monday morning. This is to ensure that your opponent has a fair chance to book another match for training. Teams that fail to book their match by this time will be award a loss, and the opponent will be award a win and 2 points. It is important that you post in your group thread stating that you have sent the challenge. This way I will know who to award the win and points too. If you do not post in the thread that you have done so, both teams will be awarded a loss.

All matches in the group stage should be played with cup rules ooff, and the bold team will be at home.
