Football Manager 2005

There hasn't been enough discussion of this new game from SI, due in the fourth quarter.

Beyond the usual quality we expect from SI, some of the new features sound intriguing. For example, apparently agents will send you 2D-video clips in an attempt to promote transfer. You will also be able to engage in mind games with other managers. The interface looks to be greatly improved with a split-screen view and the ability for the user to save various configurations that they find useful.

And this screenshot is mouth watering...

Is this the 5th incarnation of SI's football management game? I think we have to realize this and both hockey and baseball fans need to be patient. There will be great things in store down the road.

I'm wondering if they have decided to release it via download like EHM. This will dictate how fast I get it

Should be available at retail in America incidentally (although it'll be called MLS Manager not Football Manager in America).

Yes it should be available at retail in America - at the moment however I'm not aware of which distributors will be used for this (sorry - just a humble coder me ).

I am VERY excited about some of the new features being discussed for FM, especially some of the new media/player interaction.

Yeah the the 'media corner' have been working really hard to improve the media aspects of the game and I am very excitied/proud about what the new game has in terms of media.
Already I am more hooked at playing FM2005 than cm03/04.. and FM isn't even finished yet!

looking forward to MLS Manager

i am wondering how the transfers are going to work for the MLS, as it is different than every other league i know of. I follow the league and not sure exactly how it works...I do know that teams don't own player rights but the league does. Then players are drafted but not sure exactly how signings work etc i know teams can sign players but it goes through the league

Hey Francis,

The last FM magazine had a feature in it talking about a media comment editor. Is that still in the works for FM2005? For anyone that may have complained about getting the same comments from the media over and over, that would be a great way to shut them up!

The mag also mentions coach reports on squads. Is that your own squads? I would love to see reports from my assistant manager about youngsters that are playing well in the reserves, etc.

And to whomever is designing the interface, keep up the good work. I like it very much. The subdued colors will make those 8 hour marathon games much easier to sit through!
