FGT Season 1
I'm glad to have you all assembled here today. I think that what we are about to present(on a conference call) will be exciting not only for our players, but for the fans and host cities of golf's newest mini tour.
Before I announce the schedule, I'd like to review the rules thus far, and if you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to say so. --10 Tournaments, 3 Triple Crown 72-hole majors, 7 regular 54 hole events --Players will have fifteen points to distribute among five categories, --Driving Length --Driving Accuracy --Iron Play --Sand Game --Putting Players will have a minimum of 1 point in each area, and a maximum of 6 points in each area. 6 is the limit, you can't go any higher then that. --Weather will be built into each round. Rainy days will shorten length off the tee and make putting easier, while baked out greens will do the reverse. Windy days can downgrade Iron Play, et cetera. --Players will be able to improve in a number of ways. They may get into a hot or cold mode. Hot mode would give a one point skill increase for that tournament in an area that they choose. On the other hand, they can get cold and lose a point in an area that they chose as well. Players that win the week before will also get a one point boost. --Before the start of the tournament, each player will have a 20 sided dice rolled. If it lands on a 1, then you take your chances on the rare play chart. Rare plays could range from a DQ, to getting poker tips from Foz or Quiksand and a temporary loss of ability, or a magical conversation with Tiger Woods that could bump you from one point to a five point permanent jump across the board. If a player rolls a 2, then they are considered hot for the week, a 20 roll means cold. --The purpose of this is to be an ongoing dynasty, meaning anybody can sign up at anytime and take part in next week's action. In the event that we get more than 24 players active, an 18-hole Monday qualifier will take place to set the field. --Players may earn exemption from qualifing if: 1. Finish in the top 12 the week before 2. Won an event from the last three weeks 3. Won the Coors Light/Shane Kormelink Players Championship or the Open Championship within the last six weeks. 4. Won The FOFC Masters or Q-school in the last year. 5. Have not used their sponsor's exemption. Sponsor's exemptions are awarded by winning tournaments. 6. Top five in points without an exemption. --Regular tournaments will be 24 entries and 54 holes. The cut will come after 36 holes with the top 12 and ties playing the final round. Points will be awarded like in F1 with the top 6 getting points and top 12 getting paid. Sudden death playoff. --Each Major has different rules: The CL-SK Players Championship is open to everyone, regardless of skill, points, exemptions, or ragweed allergy. The cut will come after 54 holes and will be like a regular tournament and that only top 12 and ties play Sunday. The winner will decide where he or she will defend their title. The Open Championship will be just that, open to everybody. The 36 hole cut will be anyone within ten shots or 24, whichever is greater. After 54 holes, it will be within ten or 16, which ever is greater. In the event of a tie, anybody within ten shots will play in a nine hole mini round. After nine holes, sudden death for those tied. If the CL-SK Players is for everybody, then the FOFC Masters are reserved for the "fucking elitests" on tour. This is an invite only championship with a minimum of 12 spots. Win a tournament, finish top 3 in a major or be in the top 5 in points to earn your shot at the Solesmic Yellow jacket. Winning the FOFC Masters earns you a full one year exemption on tour, and a LIFETIME exemption in the FOFC Masters and a permanent one point skill upgrade. (Imagine Jim Nantz breathlessly shouting as Shorty sinks the winning putt at 18, "Shane Kormelink, FUCKING ELITEST.") --Q-School will start next season. 36 holes. Winner gets a full year exemption. 2nd thru 5th get a 3 week exemption, 6th thru 8th pick up a sponsor's exemption. --Purses will be small, $10,000 for winning a regular week, $25,000 for the first two majors, and $50,000 for the Gindin Cup. Prize money is important because you will be able to purchase skill improvement points with it. Tournament ponts can be used for temporary improvements as well. Cost to be determined. --Any thoughts on how to age or train us would be appreciated. --Tournaments will be played on a weekly basis. Qualifiers and/or hot and cold rolls will be Wednesday while the first two rounds will be done Thursday and conclude Saturday/Sunday. |

Season One Schedule
Our ten week journey starts in the wee north of Scotland. All tours need to start somewhere, so we start at the birthplace of golf. The Old Course at St. Andrews hosts the Founder's Championship. The winner gets the McKee/Merriman Cup and of course defends next season at Pebble Beach, the other home to the Commissioner's home championship.
After that, we stroll down into the English countryside to Royal Saint George's for the Sports Interactive Open. Be immeresd in the auora of Europe's hottest sports sim development as they show you thousands upon thousands of screen shots from upcoming releases. Not to be out done, the Hattricker's will hold their event at Wentworth for the Inagural Hattricker's Golden Putt for week three. Not a links course, but still a firm test of gokf hosted by one of the largest on-line communities in sport. We leave the UK for the first major on the European Mainland. France's Le Golf Nacional hosts the Coors Light-Shane Kormerlink Players Championship. This noveau course features plenty of water and the winner of the FGT's first major will have earned it. After 4 gruling days in Paris, the tour shifts stateside, California in fact, as the California FOFC Society hosts the Golden State Open at Riveria in Los Angeles. The best in the game attack one of the west coast's oldest and treasured layouts. A short flight to Tuscon for the first ever championship under the lights as Omni-National hosts the Tar-get Practice Open. Good times and low scores should be had under the pleasant night time conditions in the desert. You'll need the relaxation as the tour then travels to the Monterrey Bay and the nasty par 70 version of Pebble Beach GC for the Open Championship. Even score should win this nasty title on a beautiful course. Trust me, when the Founder's is played there next season, it will play much easier. We say good-bye to the west coast and hello to Florida as the inagural FGT season comes to a close. Arnold Palmer's playground at BayHill will host the Breezy Open. Low scores and hot sun will be a nice break for the players. Vacation time ends as the tour hits Atlanta for the last full field event. The SKYDOG Open at Atlanta Athletic Club gives players one last shot at the FOFC Masters at a course that hosted the '76 US Open and '02 PGA. Then finally, the FOFC Masters, The Gindin Cup, The Solesmic Jacket, played with limited commercial interuption by our sponsors at Cadillac and Traveler's Insurance, at the ultimate home for elite golf, Augusta National. I hope you know how to putt. And there you have it, Season One's Itinerary. |

I have company from Florida in tomorrow afternoon, and then prepare for my FOF MP debut, so look for the first thread for Saint Andrews Friday Afternoon. First round either Friday night or Saturday afternoon, rounds 2 and 3 Sunday.
