Doom 3
Just received my PC Gamer in the mail today and they actually have a review of Doom III in it. Drool. I am reluctant to read it being that they have SPOILER ALERT on the first page as I want to experience it all for myself when it hits the shelves on August 3rd.
Now, if Gabe can just get off his ass and release Half Life 2... |

.....Doomed!
I probably won't be picking up that title for awhile. Don't know why, but I think the $53-54 price tag is a bit too hefty for me. I'll probably wait until it goes down a bit in price (many months from now, I'm sure).

Id is still my all time favorite dev house. Carmack is a freak of nature.
Ever since Dec 9th 1997, he has earned my cash on release day for any title bearing his touch. Last edited by Bonegavel : 07-20-2004 at 08:15 AM. |

I've never particular cared for any of the ID games, but yes Carmack is a freak of nature..and I look forward to the release of Doom3 because then people can start making good games using the engine.

Good point. Just as with the new half-life engine, DOOM III Engine games will, at the very least, look great. When id started down the quake route (quakes 1-III) they seemed to be establishing themselves as a company that made an engine that was both great looking with great net-code but fugettabout single player. It almost appeared that they simply built the engine of engines and then would simply rely on the mod community to create the content. Don't get me wrong, I've played countless hours of id games online (mods and original id style play), but the original half-life reminded me that I do like to slog through single player content. Here's to hoping that Doom III will force me to encourage my 4 year old leave the hall light on instead of making her shut it off. ![]() |

PC Gamer said Doom 3 has quite a good story with those good graphics. Hopefully they are correct.
