OT: Laptop Monitor is flickering, why?

I have a 1 year old laptop from Dell, and for some reason, the monitor/screen seems to be flickering like a strobe light now. Does anyone know how to fix that or why it is all of the sudden doing this? Now whenever I am on my computer I feel like I am having an X Flashback.

Try to plug a regular monitor into your laptop to see if it is your video card or your LCD. If the monitor works (assuming your laptop isn't still under warranty, if it is call Dell asap to make sure it doesn't go out of warranty) you can try to push down just to the left of the power button, this should be where the lcd connects to your motherboard.

If that doesn't work break out the screw driver and try to reseat the cable. Chances are your LCD is probably shot, in which case I bought a new LCD for a Toshiba from IDparts.com and they have lots of other LCDs if you're comfortable with replacing it yourself.

One more thing you can try is to unplug the power supply and take your laptop to a place with very few magnetic/electric things, anything that may interfere with the video, and see if it does it continues to flicker even without the interference.
