So, after a Week of ESPN NFL Football 2K5...

Funny thing.

I played the game and like it for about a half hour. Then the more I played it, the less I liked it. I kept finding problems with it (see the main thread) and just generally getting more and more annoyed.

And then the strangest thing. Once I got over the initial annoyance that my expectations of perfection weren't met, and just say down and played the thing... I had fun with it again. I like this game. It's not perfect, but then again Madden hasn't been perfect in a long time. And as much as there are plenty of problems, there's also quite a few things they've done absolutely right. Stuff that Madden had years to get right and never did.

So I think I might end up liking this game after all. And if I can really get into it over the next few weeks, I may just pass on Madden altogether.

I'm hoping (though not expecting) to have time to play NCAA, Madden and ESPN.......dreaming I guess. Not to mention FOF and OOTP. But the football titles are currently the only non-PC games I play.....till the newest GTA installment comes out in November.

I played it for 3 hours. Went back to NCAA. Haven't touched it since.

I believe that is the case, or around that time. I was told that today is 84 days from GTA release (I didn't get out the calendar but seem to remember that November is the release).

My plan was to pick up both this year, and even though I'm enjoying ESPN, I'm still a mark for Madden. Not to mention the fact that I enjoy the draft class feature from NCAA to Madden

I might pick up Madden, but I'm not sure. I was disappointed with the uber-defensive backs in NCAA and worry the same with be in Madden. I am disappointed with ESPN after getting over the initial awe of the gameplay and presentation. I'll probably give a long go over of the problems in the near future, but right now, I just want to get back to FFX.

that is eerie. I just started playing FFX this weekend, I had gotten it a couple weeks ago at Circuit City for $5. Given that it will take me 80 hours of gameplay, FFX-2 will be $5 by then.

I am really liking ESPN. There are some flaws of course but nothing as yet to seriously detract me from the game. It plays a good game of football for me, plus the VIP profiles will make it better.

I will get Madden if the defense is indeed improved and not by cheating (ie superman defensive backs)

FFX is very good. FFX-2 is still fun, but not as good. I beat FFX in about a week doing a tag team with a friend.

I'm getting it just to see what the franchise mode is all about. If it's a slider mess, ESPN will get the bulk of my playing time. I've enjoyed it, along with NCAA.

Well, since I have NCAA 2004 and never got Madden 2004, my plan is to pick up a used copy sometime in the near future. I figure they will be available (if they aren't already) as people start trading them in since they'll have the new Madden. So, to me, it will be like a new game, only not at the new game price. Also, I'll be able to utilize the draft class export from NCAA.

As a result, I'll be perfectly happy with my $20 purchase of ESPN, as I will be comparing it to Madden 2004 and anticipate it will be on par or better.

Then after I've played them out, I'll probably ask for NCAA and Madden 2005 for Christmas.

Although I will probably end up getting Madden, I voted that I won't. The only reason I'll get Madden is because I'll be able to get my roommates to pay for it. Without them, I'd be perfectly happy to use ESPN as my Football fix this year...for $20 it is an absolute steal.

I really enjoy ESPN despite the problems with the game. I'm accepting it for it's strengths and overlooking the flaws so it doesn't ruin my enjoyment of the game.

Despite how much fun I'm having with ESPN, I will certainly get Madden. I've had every version for one platform or the other since 1992, and I'm hoping this year will take another big leap in progress. However, despite the cool franchise implementations, if the gameplay isn't good ESPN will get more playtime from me.

I'm not happy with ESPN at all, and I'm not getting Madden untill some coach mode players review it and say it is playable. I really would have liked to enjoy ESPN esp. since NCAA 2005 sucked (and basically in the same way).

ESPN is the best football game ever to WATCH. I just think Madden will still be more fun to "play". ESPN presents the best football game I've ever seen.

The biggest reason I'm stopping my play of ESPN is the switch guy button on defense and speed burst. I also couldn't get a game going for the first 4 days online. I managed 1 game to start.

Needless to say, me and my football gaming buddy went back to NCAA, because its more fun to play.
