For Pearl Jam Fans - A Bit of PJ-Related News
Although I haven't been a fan of PJ for years, it's well known that a couple of the guys are huge King's X fans (they pimped KX on SNL and in the movie Singles, and toured with them around '94, I think). I've been hearing about this side project between Jeff Ament and Doug Pinnick of King's X for years, and it looks like it is finally coming to fruition. Mike McCready and Richard Stuverud are the other guys involved. Sounds pretty cool.
"The project with (Jeff, Mike and Richard) sort of has a southern rock classic sound, a bit of the rolling stones vibe, a little jam band vibe on some songs..some groovy funky tunes, A few beautiful ballads.. about 14 songs.. Jeff on bass, Richard on drums and me on guitar on half of it..then Mike showed up and we rocked out about 7 more with him on guitar also..15 songs...Richard and I do all the vocals..I got to play a little slide guitar also...there is one song has a stones vibe with African drums made out of tree trunks..Jeff lives on the side of a mountain overlooking a valley, it was so peaceful there and the love was awesome...we have to do a final tweak before it gets mixed.. we have no name yet or a release date...hopefully with all the PJ fans on line, it will help promote the KX stuff and get a few folks to check out the KX web site......tentatively called (Montana) maybe.......its all good! dUg
