For my cup run - Help me spend 4M
OK, I just sold a brilliant PMer for 3M + another guy for 250 and add my current account, I have 4M (+200k debt) in the bank.
I now, only have 9 trainable PMers. So I would need a trainee, but not necessarily an expensive one (I'd rather not spend over 1 Mill). And the extra 3M are to be spent immediatey for team upgrade. Evident area is on the forwards, but I don't know market prices these days. Here is my squad.
-------- Here is a typical home game played at normal Alf Trickers Player rating and Team formation
------ I have a solid chance of moving to next round of French National Cup (I am playing my A team in normal mode at home). I am not afraid of playing my A team in the Cup as I am nearly assured of making the 5th or 6th spot (currently 2nd). ----- 1 - What kind of PM trainee can I buy with 1M ? 2 - What kind of forward can I buy with 3M ? 3 - Any other advice will be listened carefully. Well, it only took me 30 minutes to spend my money....
I have a new forward (though in weak form) purchased for 3.2M. He can even play defensive forward. Now I need a PM trainee. Only 800k + 200k debt available. ----
Has wretched experience and weak leadership abilities.

huh? how would a guy with weak playmaking and poor stamina help your midfield?
I don't follow too well... That being said, I'm not a big fan of defensive forwards... FM

I really, really, really don't think you need more help on your midfield. You badly need to focus on your offense (did that). And a keeper upgrade wouldn't hurt at some point. If you really want to bump that midfield another point or two, forget hurting your attack- you're running a 3-5-2 and can't afford that. Sell Stary or put him at defensive wingback. Then go get a formidable defender with pass+ stamina and playmaking and play him at offensive central defender. One of the best moves I ever made. Lenaour is getting long in the tooth so maybe just put Stary there in his place at defense and see how he does.

What sterling said. Except I would upgrade your defense first, before your goalkeeper. A couple of opinions besides . . .
1) Given that you train playmaking, I would have a pure offensive winger on one side since it doesn't seem like you're desperately in need of midfield assistance. Di Pierdomenico has mediocre winger skill and Janytis is only acceptable. And both have hideous passing skills. I would look for a pure winger with at least weak or, even better, inadequate playmaking skill at 22 or under. Play them offensive and, when they pop passable playmaking, they're a bonus moneymaker for you. If you feel you want that extra midfield, you can go with sterling's suggestion and grab an offensive centreback. 2) I wouldn't bother with Lenaour as an offensive wingback. His defense isn't good enough to take the penalty and his winger isn't good enough to make a major contribution to the attack. His passing is also wasted at wingback. I would sell Starý and go for somebody slightly older (22-24 range) to save some money since he still has a market. Then I would look at an outstanding defender to play as the wingback on the naked side (no centreback) and go with Hogerwerf as the opposing side wingback with Laukkunen protecting him at centreback. At least until you get the offensive centreback that sterling mentioned. |

Thanks for the advice guys. I only carry 9 trainable guys at the moment, that's why I am first looking at filling that 10th trainee spot. I will look at pure winger market now and will look to upgrade my defenders with guys that can pass after my next pop (Ivarsson at brilliant), I should have 2.5-3M to play with then.
Interesting posts so far ! |

dola about the wingers & defense
Di Pierdomenico was my first winger upgrade (purchased when I was poor) and Janytis was my first real investment at winger. This year in the Cup I play Putlich and Effernelli as wingers TM (both get 3*). About the defense, I started playing the 3 real defenders in the Cup with Hogerwerf as defensive wingback on the blank-spot , Stary as the opposite defensive wingback & Laukunnen at CD (same side as Stary) |

There you go. I spent 739k on this guy (saw a similar one go for 150k more 2 minutes before). The thing is now : should I play him as offensive winger or winger TM.
Assen Petrov (19972916) 20 years, passable form, healthy A sympathetic guy who is balanced and honest. Has disastrous experience and passable leadership abilities.

My 3M man just scored 2 goals before halftime. I am leading 2-0. Posession is 50/50. The other guys put his A team too (worst midfelder/winger is 4.5*)

Uh, yeah, Shakespearean, that's it. Basically, he is a highly talented team. But I didn't think there would be any bad or even mediocre teams left in a large country's cup.SI

I have been following Meseriashi stats for a while and he always appeared at the top of the Hatstats ratings (francestats-ht ratings actually).
He scored two on me. 3-2. 8 minutes left. Me thinks I am doomed Last edited by Alf : 08-11-2004 at 09:37 AM. |

83 minutes: In the 83rd minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Peter Nisstĺl dashed through, knocking home 4 - 2 for Trickers.
A bit of relief ! |

85 minutes: A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area, but at last Meseriashii´s Patrice Damlamian was able to shove the ball in. 4-3.
Damn it. Leave me alone. |
