Ok Miami, what's next???
Friday, August 6, 2004
ESPN.com news services The Miami Dolphins' David Boston suffered an injury to the left patella tendon in his knee during the team's practice Friday in Houston, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports. Boston will have an MRI late Friday night to determine the severity of the injury. If the patella tendon is torn, it is typically a season-ending injury. Preparing for a scrimmage Saturday against the Texans, Boston's left knee appeared to buckle from under him without contact. With his knee heavily wrapped, he was taken off the field on a cart.

Wanny to Florida State would be nothing but great news for both the Dolphin and Hurricane fan in me.

Bout the only thing left the Phins could do to make things worse is announce Wanny's new contract for life. What really sucks is now they have tons of excuses already set for Wanny's impending lousy season. So Huizenga can keep his drinking buddy around another season or two while the team really goes for the basement.

Cmon now I am not a crack smoker. Pete Carroll, Al Groh to name a few of those not so good college coaches who are turning their respective programs into powerhouses... I take it you want a college guy to coach after Bobby is gone correct? Who is there to chose from? Jeff? Mickey? Steele? Sexton? I would rather have a guy with NFL exp although I said Wanny if others are out there that are better I would gladly want them a board.

(If I believed in karma) I would say all this is karma for how the city crapped all over Shula to get that wanker Jimmy Johnson as coach a few years back. I'm just glad it didn't happen while Marino was still around. All that whining about how Shula wasn't getting us to the big game; any more we're lucky to get into the playoffs.
Not the least bit bitter... |

Yep, it's confirmed that Boston will miss the season:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...len&id=1853849 Man, no fans should have to go through what Miami fans are right now. |

Watch them pull a rabbit out of their hat and have a great year. Not that I'm predicting that, mind, but stranger things have happened.

All they need to do now is wear the orange jerseys for every home game and the transformation into the Bucs will be complete...

Bad things happen in 3's.. 2 skill posistion players gone.. so alls that needs to happen now is surtain or feeley get hurt for a long period
and the ewing theory really doesn't apply.. considering towards the end the offense really didn't revolve around.. as it did with ricky williams (ewing that is) Last edited by Ragone : 08-07-2004 at 06:47 AM. |

At this point, an injury on defense would kill them. Up until now, they've just lost offense, but the D will still be very good. One of those guys goes down, and it'll REALLY be over.

Shaq comes to town, Rickey Williams leaves, couldn't share the same spotlight as Shaq.
David Boston, OFTY, buckled under the pressure of replacing Rickey in the spotlight and having to share with Shaq. ![]() |

I'm always amused about the "Hurricanes could play at the NFL level" talk. I'm for it if just to see them try to cut down to a 46-man roster ![]()

In all likelihood, when Bobby retires, Mickey Andrews will take over and coach for a few years, and then the actual hard job of picking a real replacement will come in.

This is David Boston we are talking about, by the way. Pj, have you finished crying in your room all alone for the last week or so? I heard that if Miami could just get a couple of better gunners on special teams, they would be just as good as the Pats. ![]() |

In all honesty I wouldn't even wish any of these things on any team, not even the Pats. I know things need to be kept in perspective, but man I'm soooooo bummed out by everything that has occured this offseason, especially the last couple of weeks. I been looking forward to football season since the Dolphins we're officially eliminated last year, and now I'm not excited at all. Maybe it's time for the Dolphins to actually have a losing season.
I find it a little laughable that you and rksmuf would take so much joy in the Fins demise. Isn't winning two super bowls enough? Must you also take joy in watching another fans team ripped to shreads? I guess years of losing to a certain team truly make you bitter. Buit I don't want to be a fair weather fan so I will continue to support the Dolphins with 100% enthusiasim and hope they can throw together a decent season. P.S.: If the Dolphins ever beat the Pats this year you will be eating the biggest serving of crow pie known to man. |

I will say I am 90 % sure Mickey will leave when Bobby retires I doubt he would want to baby sit for two-four years while Florida State searchs for the man to take his job plus he is rather old and not to much of a people person.

I'm predicting 4 wins, but if they come out of the gates slow - watch out! They could do even worse.
![]() The bad part is, I still like players like Zach Thomas and Chris Chambers. It's hard to see them lose... ![]() |

Zach Thomas might not even be on the field for the losses. Isn't he still hurt or recovering from surgery?

Hmm. I figured that being promised a few years at the head was the reason he would stick around and turn down the half-dozen head coach job offers he got earlier in the 90's. He definitely is *not* a people person. I am going to fly down there and arbitrarily burn buildings down if Bobby turns the job over to anyone with the last name of "Bowden", though. I'd like to see Amato come back, personally. |

I have seen incompetent boobs quicky drive their teams down to the 3-5 win range and keep them there. (See Cincy, San Diego, and Arizona.) Miami is not in bad shape at all.

Give Wannstedt time and he will. The only reason his teams have been decent is the talented defense that Johnson constructed.
