Economist making money when not in debt?
I've had 1 economist lately cause I was over -$200k in debt. Well I just had a sale that put me just on the good side of the magic -$200k figure.
BUT under Financial for this week it shows $4100 which is $100 MORE than last week when I was -$400k. So what gives??? I thought better than -$200k and it wasn't worth it (he'd mnake less than his $1500 salary)! |

It is good to hire 1 economist when below -200k or over +500k. In between, it costs you more than it saves.

dola : in the negatives, the economist should save you interests not increase your financials

Yes, but it shows up in the financials section. Probably just easier to code that way.
As far as why it seems like you have made more money, remember that the financial rate is taken at the moment in time that the economic updates occurred. Therefore, if you lost money last week and sold your player after the economic updates, it would show that you had more debt last week, so your economist can "save" you more in your interest rates. |

well last week the I was -$410,000 (-$195,000) at the end of the week. I made $4000 in financial (from the economist) ; in this week after the update I'm -$197,000 (-$150,000) yet my financial line says $4100!
Unless the "financial" line is based off of last week and not the current week, in which case I'll see it drop below $1500 this coming saturday. |

Yep, I guess they changed things. Or maybe they assumed that debt was a short term thing, and figured that you'd be firing the economist immediately, which would make the weekly cost $3000?
That would actually be pretty close - you'd be around $3000 in Financial at $200,000 debt, assuming that the percentage stays fairly stable. edit - meant Financial, not Interest Last edited by Brillig : 08-14-2004 at 07:27 PM. |

Nope, look at my interest. It's $6,509 when starting the week at -130,175, the weekly cost of the economist is $1,500 (and is included in staff) while he makes me $1,900 (listed in financial income). I'll be losing money this week as I play away but I should sell out the following week so I may drop below -$100k... |
