In this league, we got to keep up to 3 players. If you keep less you pick an extra round before. Yardage & TD points (usual performance scoring league).

I am the Bordeaux Vineyards there. So far only 1 team has kept 2 guys, most of the others appear to keep 3.

QB Manning, RB McAllister are no brainers for me. The 3rd spot is going to be used by RB Rudi Johnson or RB Marshall Faulk. Or I could be skipping the 2rd spot and retain only 2. Or is even Manning consiedred a top 3 round pick ?

Any advice appreciated here.

edit : I pick second in every round (after the Ultimate Destroyers), so if Ultimate Destroyers keeps 3 and I keep 2, I have the first & 3rd pick in the draft.

So, assuming this is true... is there any downside to only keeping two players? It sounds like the worst case scenario is that you get back the player you were considering for your third keeper spot.

QS : that is the option I am envisonning the most now. The only thing is I don't don't know if I will be the only one keeping 2 (apart from Veggies) or if others will completely dump their roster (it happened in the past).

So far, I have received no offers for Rudi Johnson or Marshall Faulk...

Johnson is coming off the field on 3rd downs... so those are carries/catches that Chris Perry is going to steal from him.

However, he is the obvious goal-line back there... so you probably won't miss out on any TDs.

I'm not nuts about Johnson or Faulk, but they're both seeming "solid" backs to have.

My advice would be to keep Rudi, he's going into the season with a solid starting job and I'm doubtful Chris Perry is going to take that many carries away. Rudi looked good last year and should be somewhere in the top 10-15 this year which makes him a solid keeper pick.

IMO Faulk is going to drop off this year, it's an opinion I've seen elsewhere a lot but some people are still very high on him. It's a tough call as you can't argue with his production in the past but he's now entering the "old" category for running backs and his team drafted the most ready to start back in the draft. It's a combination that means I won't go near him this year.

What kinds of keeper picks are people making? You may well be able to get a better RB at #1 which would leave you open to take a top WR at #3 if somebody slips up and let's someone go.

Oh, and Manning is definitely a keeper pick. No brainer.

Oops forgot to mention : We use a lex lineup where we can play up to 3RB-2WR/TE or 0RB-5WR/TE. And usually people tend to keep RBs in this league (as most of the leagues I have been involved in).

I am leaning on keeping Rudi Johnson so far because of him being younger than Faulk.

Only keeping two (Deuce and Manning) is a perfectly valid strategy. I'm not big on either Faulk or Johnson so I think you're on the right track.

Realistically the only way to know for sure is to make a list of players who won't be kept (including this year's rookies) and see if any of them are better the Rudi.

Right now, one team is keeping 2 guys and RB Curtis Martin is available plus my RB Rudi Johnson or RB Marshall Faulk.

I need to cut today, so who would you keep : Johnson, Faulk or none...

Most of the teams have cut their guys, I am one of the last. Only RB Martin is on the same level as my guys.

The RB list is here : http://football11.myfantasyleague.co...AY=points&TEAM=*

The WR list is here : http://football11.myfantasyleague.co...AY=points&TEAM=*

And here is the current teams

Note that there are still some teams (me including) needing to drop guys. Maybe Brian Westbrook or Michael Bennett will come on the same level of my guys.

RB Barber, Bennett & WR Boldin have been released too. Another guy (brigantine Beaches has kept 2 only => the barber drop).

Still undecided on what to do.
