So what do we think about enforcing the 5 yard rule?

I agree that it got ridiculous last year in the playoffs, but a a defensive guy I really don't like seeing the corners having to play timid and afraid to sneeze withing a yard of a reciever. It's what Tags wants, a league full of 4,000 yard passers...

I say defenses will have to adjust by taking more chances. Hit those recievers immediatly at the line. Blitz your ass off. Knock the QB out of the game. The lines aren't as consistent at blocking thanks to free agency. If the reciever is knocked off his route and the QB has no time to throw it...

I like it as long as it stays consistent and the d-backs learn to play that way. The problem is going to be way too many flags for a while, and an automatic first down is a huge hit.

It will really make the Lions change their defensive gameplan.

It means teams can't run the Bump and Hold and actually have to come up with defensive schemes. If the Patriots hadn't bragged about how physical they were with the Indy receivers and how they bumped them off their routes they probably wouldn't have questioned the officials in the 1st place.

Passing numbers may be up a bit this season, but teams will adjust. It was only recently (last 2-3 years) that teams have been able to get away with the grabbing and holding, so I don't think its that big of a deal.

If its a rule it should be enforced. YOu shouldnt have rules that you choose not to enforce, either do it or get rid of the rule.
