OT: Sick and tired of Amber Frey coverage

Every time I turn to Fox News or CNN, I see her coming down an escalator with Gloria Alredge and an entourage, with a glazed look in her eyes. Is anyone else getting sick and tired of this ad nauseum coverage?

FTR - I'm not being cute, I'm serious.

The name rings a vague bell somewhere or another, but if you asked me to connect it to something, I'd just be guessing from a list of a few things I've seen/heard in the past few weeks.

Thanks Steve -- I guess I'm pretty good at tuning out the stuff I really could care less about, and Peterson/Peterson/Frey is pretty much one of those things.

I'm sorry the lady is dead, it's a sad sad situation ... but the details?
I mean, how many murder trials are underway in this country right now?
What the heck makes this one any more important, or even interesting, than any of the others?

Yes, that's a rhetorical question, the businessey part of me understands why this thing pulls ratings -- I'm just explaining why I don't personally find it interesting.

Honestly.. do we need a trial to fry this guy?

His "Alibi" is he was going fishing... Now lets examine the other facts

1. His wife was 8 months pregnant and due to pop at any moment..
2. IT WAS CHRISTMAS EVE
3. Strangely enough, his wives body was found the lake he said he was going to.. (whoops)

THANK YOU. If the news media spent even a quarter of the time they spend on this case talking about unsolved cases, they would help accomplish much more than any Peterson coverage ever will. Wishful thinking, but it would be nice.

Based on the incredibly weak and incompetent case the prosecution is putting on, yes, we absolutely need a trial. And it is going to be a slam dunk acquittal if the prosecution doesn't have some better evidence to present that what it has presented so far.

I'm 180 degrees from you on that one -- I don't believe this guy has a hope in Hell of being acquitted, even if the prosecution doesn't present a single hard fact in their case.

I don't believe I've ever seen a situation where I thought an "impartial jury" was a more impossible dream than this one.

You have pretty much summed up the case the prosecution is submitting to the jury. Oh and don't forget #4. Petersen was a scum-bag. They have No physical evidence that he transported his wife in tool box of his pickup truck, which is about the only way this works. The only evidence his wife or her body was ever in his boat, was a single hair in his tool box.

Oh and the body washing up in the Ocean about 4 miles away from the Bay he was fishing in. Well the body was found close to four months after her disappearance, and EVERYONE who watched the news between Christmas and New Years, knew Scott Petersen had gone fishing and where. So this is far from a slam dunk case. I think some of his behavior indicates he might have done it, but I think I'd need the prosecution to actually prove it to me. Some jurors take that reasonable doubt thing to pretty much extremes.

Well, the prosecution has on numerous occasions violated the rules of discovery, and had the entire testimony of one witness thrown out by the judge because of it after repeated warnings, so the prosecutors have their own credibility problems with the jury.

I'm sick of the whole thing, not just the Amber chick. All I hear on the local news is what Peterson's expressions were in the courtroom. It really sucks because this trial is held in Redwood City, very close to where I reside. I have to hear this shit every day. Annoying. What is most sickening about this whole thing is that ALL news venues carry about 10-15 minutes of coverage on the Peterson trial and spend about 30 seconds talking about the genocide in Sudan. The world needs to get their fucking priorities straight.

Should they give us what we want, or what we need? Should they spend 15 minutes talking about Sudanese genocide, while viewers flock to the Friends reruns on channel 6, or cover a murder trial that some fat housewife is going to go read MORE about on the internet later that night?

This Amber Frey angle has potential....

Hustler Bidding for Nude Amber Frey Pics Friday, June 06, 2003

STORIES

Details Emerge About Scott Peterson's Calls

MODESTO, Calif. — People are seeing more of Amber Frey in the Scott Peterson murder case.

Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt says he has been approached by a man who says he owns the rights to about 27 pictures of Peterson's former girlfriend -- and most of them are nude.

This man, David Hans Schmidt, a broker who procures celebrity contracts for Playboy and Penthouse magazines, told Fox News he got the shots through "connections."

"I was able to get at them through connections of mine, in the international press corps -- the photographer himself," Schmidt said.

Schmidt told Fox that Frey signed away her rights to the photos to the photographer, who has now signed them over to Schmidt.

"She signed away any personal rights that she might have. He [the photographer] has assigned those rights to me and my attorneys," Schmidt said.

But Frey's attorney, Gloria Allred, said Friday that she has informed Flynt that Frey, a single mother, has not authorized anyone to publish the photos.

On Wednesday, the adult content publisher and free-speech advocate told Fox News he hopes to own photos of Frey, a massage therapist, within the next couple of days.

Frey is expected to be one of the key witnesses in the trial of Peterson, accused of killing his 8-months pregnant wife Laci.

Frey filed court papers Wednesday opposing a gag order that she contends would prevent her from defending herself from personal attacks.

Allred said her client has been humiliated by intense news media coverage of her affair with Peterson and needs to protect herself.

Allred filed the motion before a Friday hearing in Stanislaus County Superior Court to discuss a possible order barring lawyers and others from talking about the case.

"A gag order against Ms. Frey would render her helpless in the face of a continued onslaught of rumor and innuendo," Allred said.

Even without a gag order, Frey has remained tightlipped despite many attempts by reporters to interview her, Allred said.

Peterson, 30, of Modesto, was arrested in April on charges of murdering Laci and their unborn son after their remains washed ashore in San Francisco Bay. The bodies were found near where Peterson said he had been Dec. 24, the day he reported his wife missing.

Frey said Peterson told her he was single when they began dating. She contacted police after news stories reported that he was married and his wife was missing.

Fox News' Adam Housley and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Is the usage of "fat" the insult, or the usage of "housewife"? Or both. Just curious.

Both. Neither. Your choice. Just trying to capture the soap opera/Oprah/National Enquirer crowd. I'm sure that there is some fat housewife out there that fits in the category. All I was trying to get at.

Gotcha. As you know, I'm a fat housewife, so I'm a bit sensitive about things of this nature.

What I can't stand is Gloria Allred's "garbage" speech in front of the courthouse yesterday. The judge should have put a gag order on Gloria too. She sounds like the mouthpiece for the defense. Also, why does Amber have a lawyer in the first place? Seems pretty fishy to me.

My guess is because Allred's working Pro-Bono or very cheap so she can get her ugly face in front of every camera possible. Isn't there another high-profile female lawyer in this country? It doesn't seem like it.
