Can anyone answer me this?

Why is Kordell Stewart still in the NFL? And why did the Steelers waste like 6 years on him?

As a Steeler fan, my best guess is because they sold a lot of Kordell Stewart jerseys.

Then again, I own a Mark Malone jersey, so I may know less than the average guy.

Cause Cowher said he was a good kisser.

I think I was the last Steeler fan/Kordell supporter left on earth. WAS, I tell you.

Considering Miami has been going to Jay Fiedler about the same length of time I think this discussion is pretty lame. In other words, bad as Stewart is, there are some starting QBs in the NFL even worse.

Yeah, that 5 first down game against the Skins this weekend showed the way. Marty Booker will turn that around right as rain.

Since he is now an ex-Bear, he will need to play for either Miami or San Diego to make his career complete. Until then, he will float around the league until he ends up in one of those two places.

LOL, I remember Kordell Stewart saying early in in his career after "one" good year that he was going to make the Hall of Fame.

...
no comment.

What if he floats around the league until he's 38 and then ends up in Oakland? That's a good way to cap off a career too.

I think it's because he still has good running abilities. Teams are trying him out, hoping that he will somehow learn to be a solid passing QB, and still keep his running skills. With Vick, McNabb, Culpepper... I think teams will still try out Kordell.

It's a shame because Kordell could have had very successful career as slash.

Yeah, but in that case he'd have to be good and I just don't see Kordell as being good. Its not like the raiders sign all these older guys who are has-beens, all of them can still play.

Fixed it for you. I'm a Raiders fan, but the term many is more appropriate.

Good point EagleEye11, I forgot the whole Trace Armstrong debacle for one. I was just alittle miffed as to why a thread about Kordell Stewart took a turn to bash the Raiders.

that's exactly what I wanted to post. Not sure if you're serious or not, but I wonder what other people's opinion was on this. Do you think if he'd just stayed at doing the Slash thing, he'd have failed as badly as he did just as a QB?

I was serious. I think that if Kordell could have kept his ego in check that he could of been very successful as slash. He was a solid receiver option and incredible in short yardage situations from the QB position. If he would have been happy with that role and worked on improving his receiving skills, he would have been someone defenses would need to key on when in the game opening up opportunities for himself and the rest of the Steelers offense.

I would be dissapointed if this forum ever missed a chance to take a shot at the Raiders or the Cowboys.
