An interesting Poll on Bush/Kerry

We all understand the bias in the media. This polled, that is featured on Yahoo! News headlines and written by the AP shows how the media works.

Poll: More Believe Bush Behind Attack Ads
By WILL LESTER, Associated Press Writer

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...ietnam_opinion

The article is to bring the suggestion that Bush is behind the Swift Boat for Truth advertisements. There does not need to be any truth to the matter at all. There has never been any truth to the issue at all. But it was completely contrived by the news media.

The poll is created by the Annenberg Publci Policy Center of the University of ennsylvania (http://www.annenbergpublicpolicycenter.org/naes/) and in it's poll that creates the suggestion of Bush being behind the ads they have this to say...

Quote:
"Putting those with opposing views on a topic on television invites frequent viewers to conclude that the matter is not settled," Jamieson said. "Feature those who disagree about whether Kerry earned his medals and you raise the possibility that he did not. Feature a controversy over whether the Bush campaign is behind the SwiftVets ads and those who had assumed no co-ordination now begin to wonder. In general the side put on the defensive by an extended discussion, loses ground until the charge is decisively rebutted or shown to be untrue by journalists." - Talia Stroud, Senior Research Analyst.

Basically, in a nut shell, the media is changing the way the masses feel about an issue by attacking the stance the do not like. And they seem to be using this tactic on a constant basis now. They are basically creating their own news story to swing public opinion. Interesting.

The SwiftBoat Ads make up 10% or less of the overall funding of 3rd part ads. MoveOn.Org and Fahrenheit 9/11 have been equally controversial or more so than the SwiftBoat Ads, but because they are not "put on the defensive" by the media, they are more likely to be believed.

So, going back to the headline, there was no news here. Other than a poll that was generated to show that the media was swaying the way people thought. But it was used to further put the SwiftVets Ads on the "defensive".
